OOC: No probs Beetle. Doubt you'll need it for these guys anyway! Still waiting for Zyltris so I'll take his move for now.
Clambering over its burning ally, the second flanking blight charges forwards. With his morningstar drawn, Zyltris steps forwards to defend the maiden druid. Tightening his grip he readies himself for the inevitable attack.
ROUND 2
Eager to prevent these plant creatures from reaching his master, Brots takes another step forward (5ft SE). Aiming his bow at the charging blight (B3) he looses an arrow.
Brots Attack Roll: 22 Damage: 11
With a deathly thump, the gnomes arrow smashes through the blights wooden chest, smashing a hole cleanly through the middle. With an unnatural screech, the creature bursts into two pieces, falling dead into a pile between the two cottages, indistinguishable from the weeds.
OOC: B3 is dead now as well. Just the others on the right hand side to deal with - Beetle and Serak, your turns.

Beetle now close enough to strike with his sword casts green-flame blade and strikes B6
Attack: 17 Damage: 6 on a hit Green Flame jumps to B4 for 3 damage. Beetle then swings at the next closest standing with the staff Attack: 19 Damage: 3
A flash of green light fills the air as Beetle swings his flaming sword at the nearby blight.
Attack: 21 Damage: 7
Inside the blazing bonfire, the creature screams out wordlessly as it is overcome by flame. An explosion of green fire spreads outwards from the burning dead blight, landing on the beast behind.
Green Flame Damage on B4: 3
Green embers quickly catch on the dried wooden body of the blight, spreading through its body, building in intensity. In seconds the creatures body is a raging inferno. Limbs blacken and burn, before falling to the ground. The blight falling melting away into a pile of glowing green ash.
Sensing the fight is almost over, Serak steadies himself and draws an arrow. In a single motion the bard pulls back the bowstring, aims at the final blight, and loosens an arrow.
Attack: 18 Damage: 9
Planting itself into the blights wooden skull, the arrow delivers a quick death to the animated plant-like creature. Lumbering about clumsily for a second, the beast threatens to fight on, before falling backwards into the fire with a heavy thump.
As the final blight falls, a small flock of blackbirds takes flight from the young oak trees nearby. Silence once more descends onto the ruined town as the party regroup to plan their next move.
OOC: Beetle, I can't take your staff attack as you lack Dual Wielding. Until then you can only attack with two light weapons at a time.
Only 29XP for each of you this time - Blights aren't exactly full of experience.
A litter of dead leaves and branches crunch beneath the paladins feet as he ventures into the nearest cottage. Any of the original growth that once burst through the stone floor, long dead. Its lush green overgrowth blackened by years of evil magic. A few young trees have sprouted up inside the ruin, now hollowed and dry. In the centre of the room an old gnarled oak leans heavily to one side. It’s bark, withered in such a way that it looks like the face of an enraged orc.
As he approaches, Beetle tenses, instinctively resting a hand on his longsword, half expecting the face to come alive. Carefully he circles around the trunk, noticing the aged tangle of roots, hauled out from the tiled floor. Buried in the ground, a rotting wooden chest, banded in steel.
With a strong tug, the paladin pulls the chest free and to one side as the tree lists, threatening to collapse through the cottages western wall. Only when the branches fall silent does Beetle turn his attention back to the chest. Despite his soft approach, the mud caked chest crumbles away in his hands. Years of rot and decay have taken its toll on the soft wood. Inside, amongst clumps of mud and dismembered roots, rotting cloth pouches filled with coins. Carefully counting out the treasure Beetle finds 90 gold, 160 silver and 700 copper coins in total.
“Hmm... tempting....” a dark familiar voice speaks out in the paladins mind, “.... such a fortunate find, and plate is soooo expensive!”
Serak: Serak quickly wraps his bow over his shoulder and draws his crossbow. Silently, he approaches the structure to the northeast, circling around to the northern door. He creeps forward, attempting to peek through any keyhole or cracks while listening closely for signs of danger.

While Syna and the others stand guard along the road, Serak circles the old decrepit bar. The road remains quiet, with little signs of any recent activity.
Circling around the bar, Serak carefully attempts to peer in through a grimy window in the north-western corner. Years of dust and a layer of ash have rendered the glass largely useless, the rooms contents almost completely obscured. Following the wall northwards, he finds a firmly shut, heavy wooden door. Lightly he presses his hand against it, testing its strength. The door doesn't budge. A small keyhole gives him a chance to peer inside, the room barely lit by the trickle of light managing to penetrate the window. Through the thick dust hanging in the air, the features of the room are barely distinguishable. Squinting slightly, Serak make out the familiar shape of a few barrels lining the eastern wall, beside which stands a second door. On the opposite wall, a line of dust covered crates surround an old fashioned range, complete with discarded pots and pans. As he stares into the darkness, the bards nose fills with a strange odour, dominated by the familiar scent of burnt ashes.

Serak: Leaving the rear door for now, Serak circles back around and checks the front door as well, listening carefully while attempting to peek inside where possible.

Turning to the party, he says quietly, "The rear door to this building is secure. Shall we breach the front door together?"

Serak checks over the front of the bar while the others consider his plan. Time has not been kind to this side of the building. The tired stone walls, blackened by fire at some point in time, sag dangerously as if to collapse at any moment. The bars front door hangs loosely on a set of badly broken and rusted hinges which groan loudly in the gentle breeze. Serak s only real chance to glimpse inside comes from a dirty, cracked window, caked in grey ash, to the right of the door.
The story inside is much the same as the neighbouring room. A thick smell of ash hangs in the air, mixed with the scent of stale yeast and beer. As the dwindling light catches in the swirling dust, an old grey rat scuttles across the floor with a loud squeak, before disappearing into silence. Faint silhouettes of broken wooden tables and stools apparently litter the floor of the otherwise dark and silent room.

As Beetle pushes the door slowly open, the hinges give way, sending it falling heavily to the floor. A thick layer of ash swirls upwards from the impact, sending a thick cloud of dust out of the open doorway. In the gloom, Beetle hears a low grumbled groan. a scrape of sharp nails on the dried wooden floor, a sharp intake of breath. To the right of the fallen door, a zombie hunched over in the shadows, awakens from a long slumber and begins to rise. Further into the room, sounds of others stirring in the dark.

Syna sees the Zombie and falls back on reliable fire, wondering if he take on some fire oriented sobriquet or epithet, casts Create Bonfire at Z1. "Block the door and let it burn," he calls to his companions.

With an unnatural screech the zombie bursts into flames, lighting up the room. Through the flames, two further zombies can clearly be seen, slowly rising to their feet.
The zombies body burns easily. It’s charring body releases a strange black ashen cloud into the air which tumbled out of the open doorway. The mixture of smoke and ash, burns Beetles eyes as he reaches for his sword.

Beetle feeling his sword hit, stands his ground hoping to keep any more creatures from coming through the doorway...still choking on the smoke from the bonfire
From within the flames, the zombie gasps with pain as Talon finds its mark. Sharply withdrawing his sword, Beetle holds his ground, blocking the doorway. As tears fill the paladins eyes, a reassuring call comes from behind.
"Hold on Beetle! Bolaer!" Jelenneths voice rings clearly over the ragin bonfire beside him. A sudden explosion rumbles through the cabin as a tangle of vines rips through the wooden floor. Within seconds, the entire floor is covered in a carpet of vines and thorns, wrapping its way around the undead creatures.
The writhing vines ensnare the zombies inside. Tied firmly to the floor by their arms and ankles, the undead fail to break themselves free, rasping and groaning loudly in frustration.
Following Synas guidance, Zyltris dashes around to the northern side of the bar, eager to block the only other exit to the bar.
