Syna passes his tankard off to Beetle, "I am pleased to introduce Brots. He is a pupil of my former master and has brought a message which does not bode well. We can speak of it when we are all together. Brot, this is BeetleJuice, our valiant Paladin I just mentioned. Brots hopes to join us, and I am of the opinion that we can use another hand apt at life in the wilds."
Brots and his squirrel Iris look up at Beetle. Brots gives off a hearty wave and greets him. "Hello BeetleJuice! Syna informs me you four have had a rough couple-a-days. How bout' you let me get you a drink?" Brots looks over at the bartender and calls over another drink.

Serak:
Giving a slight nod to Sildar, the bard says, "A simple story about opportunistic thugs making life miserable for a peace-loving populace and the plucky adventurers determined to return freedom to the land. It'll be quite the epic once I'm finished, I assure you. Enjoy your meal and rest, sir. Barkeep, might you direct me to Halia's home? Or will she still be at the Mining Exchange at this hour? With that Serak leaves the Inn.
The cool night air and the embrace of darkness greet Serak like old friends. Making sure he's not seen, he takes back alleys as he approaches the Mining Exchange.

If no one is at the Exchange, he'll try her home next. Approaching the door, Serak puts on his best smile and knocks gingerly, awaiting an answer.

The echo of Seraks knock reverberates around the mostly empty mining exchange. No noise comes from within, although in a window, the faint flicker of firelight. Suddenly a loud clank as a key turns in the door lock. The door opens slightly and a lone eye pokes through the crack.
"What do you want elf?" A womans voice calls out. Something about her delivery tells Serak to be wary. "What business do you have here?"
Beetle, Syna, Zyltris and Brots:
Sildar approaches the table, tankard of ale in hand. Speaking to the party he says, "My friends, I am going to call it a night. Tomorrow I will investigate the disappearance of Iarno, as well as this interesting business involving the Redbrands? Serak has been filling me in." Suddenly noticing the gnome also sitting at the table, the elderly warrior looks slightly embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I am Sildar Hallwinter. I am sure we will meet again soon. Come find me tomorrow, I am sure I will have some information for you then. Until tomorrow then!"
Sildar downs his ale and removes himself from the table. He limps slightly as he walks away, off to find his bed for the night.
Brots nods then finishes his drink. "Well on that note, I think I'm going to hit the hay too. Have to sleep off this drink. I'll meet you fine folk out front in the morning. Goodnight all!" Brots stands up, gives the group a jokerous bow and heads to his room.

Serak:
Giving the woman a snide glare, Serak says sharply, "Half-Elf. I am a Half-Elf! Why is this so hard for you country hicks to tell the difference?"
In an arrogant tone, he continues, "What business I have here is entirely up to you... Ma'am?" Bowing gracefully, he says, " Mask and blade, heel-toe at five fists bein' deadwood, me lovely?"
Waiting for the inevitable blank stare, he continues, "The level of professionalism among the criminal element out here is really just unacceptable. Just tell your friends the Redbrands I want to talk to them about a... business proposition. I represent a group who believe this town will be growing rapidly, and soon. They want in and the offer is generous. Do you understand?"

Serak: Serak wakes before dawn and sits down in the common room. He orders a modest breakfast of eggs and hash while he awaits the party.
Upon meeting Brots, Serak bows deeply and with a sincere smile says, "Serak The Skald, at your service. A pleasure to meet you."
In a jovial mood, he asks, "Have you ever heard the one about the gnomish tinkerer and the mechanical chastity belt? Alright, alright so picture a duchess in stirrups and... " Looking at the others doubtfully, "Actually, I think I'll tell it to you later..."
"Shall we go see Sildar? He said we should speak to him this morning."
Zyltris: "Yes, I think we should find Sildar soon. The talk I had heard of the Redbrands before our little adventure and the apparent concern Sildar has for the town lead me to believe there is work to be done here. Anything we can do that will bolster our reputation in town can only help in our efforts to find and save Gundren. Plus the possibility of coin and fighting practice goes a long way towards lifting my spirits. And to you, Brots, welcome! I am Zyltris, oft unlucky elf, and am glad to have you join us!"
The four companions sit about the inns main room waiting for the others to arrive, sharing tales and making light of their adventures thus far. With a good rest and hearty breakfast in them they feel prepared for the day that lies ahead. The barmaid Elsa, working early as usual, approaches the table, a huge perfect smile breaks across her already cheery face.
"Good morning there gentlemen. And to you my little lord, we don't get many gnomes around here. Well not since Erky Fabblestabble tried to rob this place a few years ago! He was a nasty piece of work though. Glad those wolves got him in the end. Never trust a gnome thats what my mother always said, but I've never had any trouble with them myself. After all we're all just trying to get along 'int we?"
Suddenly she realises she might be offending the short statured guest.
"I'm so sorry dear. Sometimes I can't stop meself from blurting stuff out. I do hope you enoyed your stay here last night. We're always happy to see a fresh face! That Mr Hallwinter you were all with must have some connections though! Lords Alliance? Toblen n me thought he was a beggar when he came in all ragged and wearing that goblin armour, we was expecting trouble. But when he said he was in the alliance well... looks can be deceiving I guess".
Elsa lets out a little giggle, hoping thats rectified the situation a little bit. She so desperately wants to be liked by her customers. For a barmaid in a small town such as Phandalin, keeping the better clients coming back is part of the job. After all, the Sleeping Giant Inn only fell into such a sorry state because it attracted the wrong crowd. She starts to pile the finished plates high on one arm, absent mindedly cleaning up as she goes.
"Anyway, he's already left this morning. Said he was going to sort out this towns mess. Eager to get started I suspect, we've got so many problems here. He's paid for your rooms and breakfasts already so don't worry about any payments today. Said it was the least he could do! If you wanted to thank him he's probably made his way over to see Harbin Wester at the Townmasters Hall by now. It's just across the square, opposite Linenes place. But, I best be off, still plenty to do before Toblen gets here, Oghma knows he'll want this place ready for the lunch time rush before breakfasts even over! See you later!"
Elsa scurries off. Having struggled to get a word in edgeways the companions sit blank faced. Awkstruck at the mix of the whirlwind of words that has just hit them without warning and the barmaids undeniable beauty. To top it all off, they hadn't even finished their breakfasts before Elsa had cleared the table.
Zyltris heads to the Stonehill Inn to track down the group. While waiting he is going to have an ale and relax a bit.
Syna passes his tankard off to Beetle, "I am pleased to introduce Brots. He is a pupil of my former master and has brought a message which does not bode well.
