"Hox we will watch the doorway and try to stay out of sight." Gruun will try to find a low traffic area where he and Hox have a view of the entrance to keep watch.
As she enter, Killian will fiddle with the monocle and try to put it on her face so she can use its diminishing magic to see who is a frog demon and who is not.

Killian and Zane enter the Hall of Vigilance. Where once the grandiose temple surely held revelers and worshipers of Helm, tables now cover the floor, seating people of various humanoid races, arguing and debating fiercely. All of them wear monocles themselves, and Killian's monocle reveals that none of them are slaadi in disguise. A few bits and pieces of arguments can be heard even from the entrance.
"We do not have time for that, if the slums are gone then so is our only chance!" "--wait for Ser Mary Glendale--" "--probably a slaad herself!"

Outside, Gruun and Hox's watch is interrupted by a familiar voice. "Glad to see you made it out alive."Fumbles approaches, the rock gnome looking quite bedraggled, but still wearing a monocle and in good shape.
"And just in time, too. Quickly now, join me inside with the others. We are out of time."
Killian turns to see a horrifying sight. Gruun and Hox approach the door with Fumbles, sweat practically pouring from his face. Behind them, marching through the streets, are hundred of Stone Shields heading for this building.
Fumbles grabs at Killian and Zane's arms, turning them to the back of the building, offering only, "They know. Follow me. We have to get out of here, now." Reaching the back of the building, he opens the door, pointing the party to an open tunnel entrance a short distance away. He turns to scream, "Pack it up!" but his words catch in his throat as windows smash, and a wave of crossbow bolts fly through the front of the building, dropping a half dozen members of his resistance to the ground. "To the tunnel, go! I'm right behind you!"
Tortured screams fill the Hall of Vigilance behind you as you flee with Fumbles as the Stone Shields enter, slaughtering the men and women within. Only a couple of them are able to escape out the back of the hall, but quickly fall to crossbow bolts when the Stone Shields follow them into the courtyard, and give chase to you through the tunnels.
"Damn it! They were commoners, not warriors, you cowards!" Fumbles shouts through his teeth as you run. He grips a necklace around his neck and snaps it, holding it in his grip. "This will buy us time," he says as he tosses it behind him. "Keep running!" A few seconds pass before a huge explosion rocks the ground, hiding the screams of soldiers as they are ripped apart, and the tunnel collapses behind you. After a few hundred yards, the sounds settle behind you, and Fumbles finally slows to a walk, catching his breath.
"That's it. Sundabar is lost. My workshop is gone, and so is the entire society I formed to fight back. Please, let's walk for a time. We can catch our breath, and I owe you an explanation,"he says.
"Yes, I would have an explanation," she says, as she catches her breath against the wall. "The actions of these creatures have piqued my interest, too many innocents have died today at their hands... claws... flippers."

"Would questioning one of the Stone Shields be helpful? I might be able to achieve that even if they have passed away. If we deem it necessary we can head back and see if any of them were blown to this side of the tunnel.." (offering to cast Speak with Dead essentially)
"Claws," Fumbles nods to Killian. Despite the grim events of the day, the gnome still manages a sad smile at Hox. "Ah, Rupipedor, my halfling alias. Yet another casualty of the day."
Fumbles stops walking, looking behind him for just a moment when Zane suggests questioning a Stone Shield, but shakes his head and continues forward. "It is a good thought, but the reward would not be worth the risk, I'm afraid. The Stone Shields are either brainwashed by Slaadi or are Slaadi themselves, and won't yield any more information than we already know."
"I should start with the basics. I don't know that I can fully trust you all, but you're not Slaadi, and that's enough for me right now. You still have the monocoles I gave you, yes?" he asks, looking again through his own monocle at the party.
"I have been investigating the plans of a halfling named Doramor with my companion Roccar, under the employ of the wizard Denorian. Doramor has been using these..."brain gems"...large, red gems easily mistakable for a ruby. With these, he controls the Slaadi, and has been using them to steal powerful weapons called Staffs of the Magi. There is a war coming. Denorian needs these Staffs to prevent the Elder Evil from winning this war, and it cannot be coincidence that Doramor is trying to collect them himself."
"In recent months I infiltrated a wizard's tower - The Lonely Tower - with a group of trusted adventurers. I used arcana from this tower to craft the monocles and rings that you now carry. Unfortunately it seems that we will only have the aid of the monocles for a few more hours, now that the Poetry Society workshop is gone. Turn here, quickly now," he explains, turning into an intersecting passage.
"You speak a lot without saying much. I need only know how to prevent these... Slaadi, and perhaps now this Doramor, from slaughtering more innocents, preferably permanently." The handsome young woman in armor blinks. "By killing them," she says by way of explanation.

"Where are we heading to? It is starting to seem that we are more entangled in these events than it seems. We've seen one of those rubies in use and encounter a slaadi before coming here."

Zane will follow Killian in there, saying "I'll accompany you, but you should do all the talking. I'm just curious"
Hox hides behind Gruun, keeping his hood on. "Hox no like Helm's people, no like Hox taking things."

She will turn to go get the others. "It seems we have found the resistance. Let us get the others," she says to Zane, "And find this Ritzka."

Zane picks up the pace as well, mumbling to himself something about not being left alone in the last couple of days.. or centuries, not sure which.
Gruun quickly packs his bulk into the tunnel pushing Hox ahead of him.
