Hah! Get your bad rolls out of the way on such a stupid Perception check. If you're very lucky and very nice to Fope, he may tell you what he perceived. :)
So, Blinki, this Izek Strazni, who is having you make the dolls, does he say why, is it for him or someone else, like the Burgomaster, for example? And what is this Burgomaster like, seems like you have a lot of festivals around here? oh and what's up with the gentleman in the pillory, what was his offense?
Izek Strazni! He is the right hand man of the burgomaster, Baron Vargas Vallakovich. But Izek wants these for himself. I can tell. (t-yel). He wants her! She is not safe.
The man in the stocks? In a hood? Yes, yes. Baron Vallakovich knows that the way to keep the Devil Strahd at bay is to make everyone hyappy! So we have festivals! And I make toys! People who will not be hyappy and speak against the festivals must go to the stocks. That is Vinton Yombetno in the stocks now. He dropped his pike in the parade. I think on purpose! The head of the wolf fell down in the dust. Now he must be in the stocks for two days. Maybe three days. I think two days. He is learning.
Why don't we pause the in-character action and you guys take a minute to brainstorm about (1) goals and (2) plans. Things are pretty wide open right here; you aren't in Death House anymore. Review and decide. You don't have to talk in character to communicate player-to-player.
Blue: Excellent suggestion. Thank you DM. Barnaby will definitely want to look into seeing if there’s a shop where they sell scrolls. With Ireena in danger we should make some attempt to disguise her. I don’t think we have a magical way of doing that, so perhaps we get some makeup and a hooded cloak as well as looking into where we might go next to get her to safety.
We could look into the politics of the town a little more as it seems they are not fans of Strahd. I don’t see any clues to follow further in the case of the missing girl. It would be great to find someone we can trust as an ally, but I think that’s just something to keep an eye out for.
I'd like to get back on the road moving Ireena toward the monastery. I'm concerned this town may be more dangerous than it lets on. After that last conversation, it feels a bit totalitarian.
I’m okay with that. It does seem it will be hard to keep Ireena under wraps. I don’t think any place we go here will be super comfortable for us, but at least we can be somewhere where Ireena doesn’t have an active stalker. Barnaby still asks the doll maker about the existence of a shop in town that might sell scrolls.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Insight: 6 Does it look like about three days journey to Krezk on the map? Barnaby will ask the shopkeep if he knows anything about the road to Krezk. We will also get information on local shopping so that we can pick up at least food for the journey (swimming that others agree to go).
KREZK???!!! Blinsky looks around, embarrassed at having talked so loud. Road to Krezk very dangerous. Very. Dangerous. He looks at each of you, studying your equipment and assessing your strength, as a group.
Nyo, nyo. You should not go to Krezk at this time. Very dangerous. You wish to hide the lady? Maybe the temple, past the Inn?
Visiting the temple is on my list of to-dos, and maybe get more info from a better source. Priests are usually good sources of town/local history
Beyond that, Look into the Berdermeister a little, See if we find clues to Gertruda's disappearance (I don't hold out much hope of that) I'm pretty sure we aren't ready to visit the count directly
It really felt like getting Ireena to safety was our mission at this point, so what am I missing

We're supposed to find the body of some wizard that raised an army against Strad. I think the vampire priest son fought in that army. He might know where the body is. This would mean going back to the Village of Barovia.
Føpé would like to revisit the encampment we started in to try to get someone to bring his brother to Barovia.
Also, forgot to roll a training die for Revenge this morning: 10
Well, I'm thinking it sounds like Krezk is not an option. We should see if we can get shelter for Ireena at the local god spot. Fope, I appreciate your intense devotion to a cause, and when next we find ourselves in the area of the gypsies, I will help you get to them and make your request, but meanwhile, that's back where we came from, soooooo...maybe not right now. That leaves us with seeing what we learn from the priests, and possibly looking into the anti-Strahd wizard body.
With your Insight check, you are pretty confident that the toymaker is being sincere.

So, you guys got some information from Blinsky. You can press him for more, if you want. Or you can talk among yourselves about what to do next.
There are lots of loose threads here, and Vallaki is very much a sandbox. Talk among yourselves. (Or with Blinsky. I don't care.)

I give myself inspiration.

Blinsky stares into space for a moment.
Nyo, nyo. . . No magic shops in Vallaki.
Roll an Insight check. On a 12 or higher, read this:
It looks like he thought of something but didn't say it. For some reason.

Where you met Madam Eva? That would be back toward Barovia, and take almost as long to reach as going back to Barovia itself.

Who knows, maybe there are some Visanti around here, Fope
