Ok. This creature is unlike anything you've ever encountered before, and you just aren't sure where particular vulnerabilities might be. But you guess that the knee might be one, and it's closest to your height, so you go for it. Unfortunately, your careful aiming backfires, and you simply miss.
Hmmm, next time if you include yourself as one of the targets of the bless spell, you will get to use it on your concentration checks. I have a cleric who also does not include herself in her bless spell, but seeing this, maybe she will from now on.
Barnaby will launch a firebolt at the demon and then step behind the boxes out of site. 14 to hit for 2 damage.
Aha. The 2 damage was so slight that I did not appreciate that your turn was over.
The shadow creature turns and looks at Felix, and then it turns back to Barnaby. With a shriek it almost disappears into wisps, racing straight at Barnaby's pocket.
Barnaby, make a Charisma save. Kif and Fope, you may take leaving engagement attacks against it, if you wish. Lucento, you do not get a leaving engagement attack, because you do not have a handheld weapon for attacking it.
You feel a darkness swirl inside of you and bang around in your guts. Your vision clouds and your mouth fills with smoke, but the moment passes, the darkness does not find purchase, and you are unharmed.
The shadow creature screams in frustration and pain, and descends through the trap door. Barnaby can still see it through the opening; it didn't get far. But it's on the second floor now.
Also, that would have been a veeeeery good time to remember you had inspiration. Don't forget, people!

Lucento staggers to his feet with a wince and casts cure wounds on himself as a second level spell to heal for 6. (Includes 4 for disciple of life).
As a bonus action, he whips his hand through the air and the golden mace flies toward the shadow creature: 19 (to hit) 9
Edit: Way to go, disciple of life *facepalm*
Thanks to Josh, Lucento now has a proper avatar! Thanks, Josh!

Waiting for Barnaby.

And congrats Dov
