After researching the captives, Rycider will speak to each of the party members as they attend the fifth floor. The members will note that her accent is gone and replaced with something akin to that of the travelling merchants of this city. She will call each member by a different name and with her back turned to the captives will give a little wink. She will then discuss the method of entry, resistance and positioning of opposition forces. This will be conducted as though she was talking about Tax Law. She will scribble all answers down whether or not her colleagues are truthful.
When she has completed her research she will sit down at a table and begin on The Report itself and accompanying documents.
OOC: Each character has gained the benefits of a short rest. If you would like to roll hit dice, please do so in your next post. Wes and Tanakir's inventories have been updated with their identified items.
Rycider has gained Inspiration for her great plan to cover the party's identity. Remember that Inspiration grants advantage to a roll, so it must be called out before a roll is made; it cannot be used to reroll a bad roll.
Two sheets of parchment have been removed from Rycider's inventory.
For Tanakir:
The yellow potion is a potion of speed. Drinking it grants its user the effects of the haste spell for a short time.
For Wes:
The first potion you study, the yellow potion streaked with black, is a potion of speed. Drinking it grants its user the effects of the haste spell for a short time.
Hours pass in silence while Fumbles works hard to crack the vault, more serious and determined than Aradurk has ever seen the gnome. His complete focus finally breaks for a moment when the red sending stones light up for the first time. "Biz oltinchi qavatdan tutunni ko'ramiz. U erda nima sodir bo'ladi?"
For Aradurk:
In Orc, "We see smoke from the sixth floor. What is going on in there?"
Fumbles' voice soon says from the green sending stones, "You hear that? The orc army is saying there is smoke coming from the sixth floor. Somebody get up there and check it out."
OOC: This is a unique "social encounter" mechanic in this campaign, where your individual character responses can greatly influence the direction the story takes. How does each character respond to this situation, in either first or third person?
Aradurk speaks into the red stone in Orc, "We 're looking into it - someone forgot to put out their pipe when they emptied the trash."
Aradurk puts the red stone away then pulls out the green one, "Gang - quick - gimme a name from one of the Orc's IDs in case they check. Keep the guests guarded. I need eyes and hands on 6 to clear the actual issue ASAP. Clear and hide."

Tanakir gets up, beginning to lumber towards the elevator. "I trust that Miss Rycider can take care of the employees, I will go. Although my specialty is not putting out fires."
OOC: Character sheets have been updated with the benefits of a short rest, and Wes's spell slots have been updated.
Aradurk's voice comes through the red sending stones, "Biz uni qidiramiz - kimdir axlatni bo'shatganda quvurini chiqarib qo'yishni unutgan." Then, through the green sending stones, he requests a name from one of the orc IDs - Rycider checks, but none of the IDs include any names, only "Temporary Employee".
Wes and Tanakir ascend the stairway together, arriving in a similar area; a circular room with the spiraling stairway in the center, and a set of double doors closed in front of them.

Tanakir sniffs the air, searching for the smell of smoke. ”Let’s get this over with quickly. We’d have some explaining to do if someone was sent here to investigate.”
Opening the doors in front of them, he steps into the next room to try and figure out what the source of the problem could be.
On the fifth floor, the goblins shake their heads, not willing to do anything to anger Karst or his axe. The few orcs who are conscious simply glare in anger, some shouting mumbles against their gags.
Tanakir opens the door on the sixth floor. The smell of smoke hits him and Wes clearly. The room ahead is full of clutter; clothing, red jumpsuits, masks of human faces, empty boxes, iron ingots, rations, and boxes of empty potion bottles, vials and other glassware cover just the surface of the piles of storage in this room. A hallway continues ahead, and another lies to the left.
If the smoke is clearly coming from one point, Wes will follow Tanakir there. If not Wes will suggest to split up. “I’ll take the left hall, call each other once we’ve found something.” Wes will run with his hand in his breast coat pocket, holding his wand so it’s ready but hidden as well.
Wes and Tanakir take separate paths through the floor. Wes passes through a half dozen similar rooms, all covered with boxes of storage. Tanakir crosses through a similar large room and a long, narrow hallway. Having all but completed a lap around the floor, both Wes and Tanakir emerge in a room opposite each other.
There is a third door in the room, ahead of Tanakir and across from the door that Wes entered through. The smell of smoke is much stronger now, though no smoke is visible.
This room is much less cluttered than the rest of the floor. There is a door along the left wall, and an opening on the right wall. The curtain surrounding the opening has caught fire from a candle that lays on its side on the floor, still burning. Smoke pours out of the window from the thick curtain, which looks to be half burned at this point. A picture frame next to the window has been smashed, but the frame is empty of all but a skull with an inverted triangle carved into it.
Wes attempts to knock the curtains down and stomp out the flame. If it is too big and Tanakir doesn’t have an easy solution he will send and ice knife to stop the flames.
Later to investigate the lack of painting before exploring the room to the left.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tanakir steps forward as Wes puts out the fire, “It seems someone really wanted that painting. I wonder what this is...”
He takes a moment to try and identity the symbol of the skull before heading through the previously burning opening. Religion (subtract 3 for Arcana): 16
“Whoever caused this mess either had to leave in a hurry or were creating a distraction for something, I’m not sure which one. If the former, perhaps they caught wind of us and are looking to warn those outside.”
“That’s possible, I wonder if someone knew of our plans and set in motion a heist of their own?”
Wes gets on the green stone to update Fumbles and the crew. “Looks like someone else here has sticky fingers. They stole a painting and left stmbols of the occult. We are investigating this further. Over.”
