PIRATE CREW LOOKING FOR FILL THESE POSITIONS BELOW:
Boatswain
Hello everyone!
I'm Crispy! Some of you may have seen me around the forums and/or have adventured with me in the past. Some of you may have been in one of my games! If so, it's good to see you again! I'm starting a recruitment thread for D&D's GHOST OF SALTMARSH, coming in MAY. We're looking to fill the last few position on our Pirate Galley!
HOW TO APPLY:
Feel free to post your application in this thread. Here are the things I will be looking for, as we have some time before the adventure begins and you have time to brainstorm. Take this seriously. I am very picky about who I choose. I WILL CONSIDER VERY SERIOUS AND WELL THOUGHT OUT APPLICATIONS ONLY. If you blitz through this without much thought, I can tell, and you will most likely be overlooked. I'm looking for players who post regularly, have interesting concepts, make an effort, and who are quality players. But most of all, we're gonna have some fun. This is what i'd like to know:
- NAME (Your characters name) - CLASS (Lets keep it PHB and any official sourcebook choices for now) - BACKGROUND (Tell me about your character - remember, we're you're part of a PIRATE CREW) - POSITION (What position are you applying for?) - YOUR TIME ZONE (Where you from?) - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE (Got experience?) - YOURSELF (Tell me something interesting about YOU, not your character.) - VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS (YES/NO) - GIMME YOUR BEST PIRATE QUOTE (Why? Cuz we're pirates!)
QUESTIONS?
Got questions? I've got answers! Go ahead and send me a PM, i'll get back to you ASAP. I know there's probably things I didn't cover, but we'll get to it as we near the release date of the campaign. Thanks so much, and good luck!
- NAME: Anion Dorovar (Link to D&DB Character Sheet) - CLASS: Sorcerer (Storm Sorcery) - BACKGROUND: Anion is an aquatic half-elf who struggled to find purpose in his life. Regardless of his efforts, he wasn't welcomed among his peers due to his heritage. The only time he felt appreciated was when he would be at the harbor assisting the sailors with their boats, or perhaps taking fishing lessons. He knew from a young age that the sea soothed him, and nothing would excite him more than to one day have a ship of his own to sail the ocean. Unfortunately, his upbringing resulted in him being mistreated by his peers, ultimately becoming a delinquent as a form of revenge. Anion had a thing for breaking into homes and stealing possessions.
This life lead him to joining a crew by the time he was 18, and was practically driven out from society due to his mischievous behavior. He admired the captain's ability to maintain a well-kept ship & crew and Anion inspired to become a captain of his own crew one day. Although his ideology was slightly different. Whenever possible, Anion would steal from the ship's inventory and whenever they made their shipments, he'd attempt to steal from the customers. Anion was inevitably caught, and had been discharged from the crew. At this point, Anion acquired the knowledge of navigating the sea and knew what his destiny was. - POSITION: Navigator. Storm Sorcerer's are adept navigator's. - YOUR TIME ZONE: Eastern Timezone. Kentucky. - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: I'm in two campaigns with my friends in real life, running a Storm King's Thunder campaign and a Ravnica campaign. We finished a campaign of Curse of Strahd. I joined a PbP campaign for Tomb of Annihilation but it was ended abruptly as the DM had issues. This campaign would be my second PbP campaign. - YOURSELF: I work at a call center during the night. Weds-Sun 10 pm to 7 am is my work schedule. Call volume is low at night and I do have access to D&DB at work. This past January I decided to become a New Years Resolution'er via joining a local gym to lose weight. I've lost 12 pounds, and have been heavily considering the Keto diet. I love playing video games, as I've been playing Resident Evil 2 quite frequently, and I also play World of Warcraft. My username, Ryno is a childhood nickname from when I wanted to be a wrestler and wanted to have a badass name. It's a play on my name Ryan, and I came up with Ryno because I was as big as a rhino and used the spear as my finisher. 628 is my birthdate, June 28th (06/28). I'm still an avid wrestling/MMA fan, not much into any other sports. - VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS: I use discord quite frequently with my other D&D friends, as well with my WoW guild, so I wouldn't mind a discord chatroom for the campaign. - GIMME YOUR BEST PIRATE QUOTE: “Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.” - Jack Sparrow.
- NAME: Anthony "North" Zeak - CLASS: Rogue (Scout) - BACKGROUND: Born a nobody from nowhere, North, as he went by, always had to stick out for himself. however, one day, he hit the jackpot. A man who was traveling through, found him, took in interest in how a boy his age, was able to survive all alone, and took him under his wing. The bounty hunter, an aged man by the name of Lucias Zeak, trained North how to make a living hunting other people. They were "talented problem solvers" as it were. however, there came the time when time finally caught up with old Lucias and he passed own his own wishes to the boy he raised. men like them, were destined to be alone. They were born alone, survived alone and often, more times than not, died alone. The path they took was a good path, a path of self challenge and questing, but ultimately, a man needed a family, a place to call home. So, after burying the man who was both a mentor and a father to him for many years of his life, Anthony Zeak, looked for his own "home". But, he found out a sad truth. There wasn't any. He didn't fit in really anywhere. Everyone was always so satisfied with living quiet, peaceful lives, regardless of their circumstance....but that wasn't him. So, one day, he met up with some "privateers" and they offered him a job, and a place to, at the very least, find what he was looking for. So off into the seas he went. - POSITION: Master Gunner - YOUR TIME ZONE: PST - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: I've been playing for a relatively long time now, I always try to find something about myself in the characters I play, but also find that it is in the characters I simply try to enjoy, that I find the most XP - YOURSELF: I lived on a boat for 2 years, so I always have a soft spot for games that take place by the ocean or on a boat ^w^ Aside from that, I'm a athletic nerd, who likes to imagine the possibility of the improbable.
- VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS: I'm a big Discord user, so yah, I'd be down for it - GIMME YOUR BEST PIRATE QUOTE: “in a world without gold, we might 'ave been heroes!" - Edward Thatch "Blackbeard" (AC 4 - Blackflag)
NAME: Meh'gurd Diamondbane aka: Salty Joe CLASS: Bard BACKGROUND: Salty Joe is a cook and is most comfortable in the kitchen on any seafaring vessel. Born a drow in the underdark, Meh'gurd was rescued and adopted by seafaring adventurers. He has spent his entire life on the sea and one day hopes to be the captain of his own ship. POSITION: Cook YOUR TIME ZONE: EST YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: I have a ton of expereince in the PBP forums as well as table top. I have many characters with convoluted backstories. YOURSELF: I have seen Phantom of the Opera on Broadway over three hundred times. VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS : No? GIMME YOUR BEST PIRATE QUOTE: "What's the best way to enjoy my grool? Shut the hell up."
- NAME: Indigo - CLASS: Tortle / Cleric (Tempest Domain) - BACKGROUND : Indigo (Indigo is her nickname, her given name being Sooka) grew up with her brethren on the continent of Chult. Like all Tortles she was raised to be religious and worships the Ocean, the Earth, the Moon, but most of all, the Sun. Indigo's worship of the sun god Oota instilled in her an immense wanderlust, and from a young age she began crafting a plan that would allow her to follow the Sun around the world. Her friends and family teased her constantly, but she persisted never paying them much heed. She got a reputation for being a bit addled, and the other tortles started to avoid her and her obsession with sailing and travelling to new lands.
Eventually, she set off to wander Chult on her own, learning of its perils first hand and having a few close calls along the way. She made her way to a port town where she hired herself out as a guide or mercenary whatever paid good coin all in the hopes of buying her own small vessel and pursuing her childhood dream. And then one fateful day it finally happened.
She saved up enough gold to buy a sloop and pay a crew and one dawn she set sail to the east to meet the rising sun. She found that with her lack of experience, she was a terrible captain and a worse navigator, and after months at sea with no promise of land or pay her crew began to talk of mutiny against her. She obliviously went about her days and, as luck would have it, on the night of the planned mutiny there was a massive storm that destroyed the ship and scattered the crew sending many to their watery graves. Indigo was lucky enough to be washed ashore in a strange foreign land, and nevermore dreamed of being captain.
Instead, she has hired herself out as a cook focusing on feeding her new crew and teaching her sous chefs how to pull their weight and how to fight on a ship. Over her time as the ships cook she's honed culinary skills as well as her navigation and watercraft skills and is no longer the clueless vagabond that she once was. She has abandoned the tortle gods whom she feels betrayed her and embraces her new life as a pirate, now worshiping the tentacled lord of the deep, the mighty Kraken. - POSITION: Cook - YOUR TIME ZONE: PST, California - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: I've been playing D&D since the 90s and P&P RPGs since before that. Relatively new to PbP, probably about a month of experience there. - YOURSELF: I once rode my bike from California to Brazil taking 13 months to travel through Central and South America. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I hope to repeat it or do something similar. - VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS: I'm fine either way!
- GIMME YOUR BEST PIRATE QUOTE: "Too late I realize that me children are me only real treasures..." Emperor Grog, Futurama
- NAME (Tempest) - CLASS (Tabaxi, Ranger favored foe monstrosity) - BACKGROUND (Tempest grew up loving to hear stories of far off lands and adventures. While his people aren't normally drawn to the open seas, that's where the best adventure stories happen! His curiosity got the best of him and he has spent the last few years chasing the stories of legend and the monsters that inhabit them. Every time so far these dangers have largely been embellished by the local lore but just maybe...the next adventure will be the real deal. They say cats have 9 lives and intend to use them all. - POSITION (Navigator) - YOUR TIME ZONE (Washington PST) - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE (Been playing DnD since the 2000's but have never done pbp) - YOURSELF (Married with twins and love gaming. I love rich stories and looking forward to trying something new) - VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS (YES/NO) yes - GIMME YOUR BEST PIRATE QUOTE (Not all treasure is silver and gold)
- NAME : Whisper - CLASS: Warlock (Great Old One) - BACKGROUND: Whisper had a name at one time and place that meant something. At that time, he was also arrested and charged with banditry and murder. Around that same time, he also broke out of jail and hopped on the nearest ship leaving in the shortest time. Once on the water, he quickly realized his fellow crew was a gang of pirates. The transition from land to sea was relatively easy, and the job was mostly the same except for one little detail: the ship's navigator was a damned haruspex of Dagon. After a nasty squall and three days of almost no wind, he thought his master had forsaken them and demanded a show of fealty rather than the usual extra hostage. As he prepared the former land-bandit for sacrifice (albeit not really willingly), the ship was attacked and boarded by a navy frigate. The crew was rounded up, including the screaming haruspex and his sacrifice. The crazed cultist managed to break free of his captors and lunged for his prepared subject. Within a moment, the unfortunate target was gurgling on a throat full of blood and falling overboard with a laughing haruspex above.
It seemed to be the end and death made him delirious. He imagined sinking into encroaching darkness, as though hands were closing in around the fleeting light in front of him. When he closed his eyes and waited for the end, a rumble shook into his core. A voice called from the depths below him, asking if death was really what he wanted. It wasn't. Instead, it offered a chance at life, but regular tribute was demanded. The now-former servant of this voice did well enough sacrificing lives to the depths, but that's what a host of demons and monstrosities of the sea were for. What was truly desired were secrets held deep within the hearts and minds of every creature. Souls could be tormented and never break, but discover secrets over them, and they are powerless. All these truths were revealed, but the decision was already decided.
Washing up ashore days later, the former bandit-turned-pirate found his neck healed, but his voice limited. If he spoke too much each day, his patron would chuckle at his folly and lecture him about the foolishness of letting too much be shared. The few times he was allowed to speak without restriction was while laying bare and offering the secrets of someone's mind to Dagon. - POSITION: Carpenter, because no one seems to want it and its a very unassuming job. Alternatively, Navigator as having a connection with the biggest fish in the sea tends to have perks. - YOUR TIME ZONE: EST - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: Not that I like being "that guy" to play the buddy card, but I've got 2 names to ring a bell: Grishkar Darkmoor (Ravenloft 1983) and Shariel (Tomb of Annihiliation). Player for almost 20 years now with a long hiatus in the middle of that, and a DM for the past few years. I truly love the game and am actively engaged in a few campaigns currently - one of which is a totally open-ended, zero ties, sandbox intended to allow new players total sovereignty to explore the game. - YOURSELF: When I'm not working 50-60 hours a week, I am a Historical Fencer by hobby with 10 years of on-and-off experience. I've trained to varying degrees in German Longsword, Poleaxe/Spear, Rapier, English Sword, and wrestling. My interests are ever-expanding in this field and I would make a career out of it if it paid enough to be a trainer. For longer than I've been a fencer, I also study military history, specifically European and Asian history from Egyptian to European Renaissance. The blending of these two scholarly hobbies have, unfortunately and fortunately, blended into my love of tabletop gaming. In many of my games, I work with DMs to develop realistic alternatives to rules which encompass real world dynamics without bogging down rules with excess details. - VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS: All the time, YES!!! - GIMME YOUR BEST PIRATE QUOTE: "You cheated!"....enemy smiles "Pirate..."
So just to elaborate on the backstory above: Whisper has a "conditional effect" of his pact with the Demon Prince Dagon. Seeing as how Dagon is a master and hoarder of secrets (and a plethora of other reasons I'd rather leave out for brevity), Whisper has an actual limit on the number of words he can speak per day. This doesn't hinder him since he is free to use his pact-granted telepathy at will, but the idea of someone talking in your head tends to turn off the commonfolk. Consequently, Whisper does do well in friendly social settings. The exception to this rule comes in the form of Verbal components for spells, which are decidedly nefarious in nature. Part of this inclusion is simply because I honestly don't know how many words are used in various spells (lol). However, it's also because Dagon loves his secrets and it seems to make very good sense that he would want to give his minions free reign to use his gifted powers for the purpose of extracting secrets (torture, interrogation, espionage, etc.)
Let me know what you think, Crispy. If this one doesn't seem a 100% fit, I've got several others who would love to take a ride on a ship. Maybe a Navigator candidate in the form of a spatially-flexible archer who had too close of a brush with a master lich? Or I've got someone who's particularly intimate with the minutiae of life and death that would make an excellent doctor. I hear he's been cooped up and wanting to stretch his legs again...

-RACE & CLASS (Human Rogue with Swashbuckler Archetype)
-BACKGROUND (Pirate)
"I can't remember my birth. All I know is I was kidnapped by a dread pirate who taught me the seafaring life. His true name was Galleus Monty, but he went by the nefarious nickname of Dead-eye Robertson. I learned how to handle a flintlock, the sword, and how to rig effectively. He trained me to become his progeny, for he knew one day he had a daunting quest to tackle: The Kraken of Balamyn Coast. He sailed off on his private ship with most of his crew, but left me with his primary ship, and hired a crew to serve me in his absence. Needless to say, he never returned. So I took on the role of Captain, and sailed many coasts, earning the nickname Jawbreaker Jones, known for pillaging port towns for ale, gold and wenches. There was a time we were cheated out of a big deal. We had a trade agreement with another pirating crew who belonged to the Minotaur Scarhide. We dropped off a load of weapons, ammunition and supplies at an undisclosed location in exchange for gold. We never even saw a copper piece from that horned bastard! We were set up by that heap of cow shite! The minotaurs were able to take over my ship and claim my entire crew! The mutinous bastards left me for dead by the coast, but ol' Raazba knows how to get back up with a taste of ale in my flask! Now I'm in search of that pig-nosed **** who stole all I ever had! IF I GET A HOLD OF THAT **** SMOTHERING PIECE OF WHALE SHIT I...pardon my common, I have a bit of a sailor's tongue." If I can find another crew to join, then perhaps I can resurface the once feared name of Jawbreaker Jones!"

-DND/PbP EXPERIENCE (I learned how to play this wonderful table-top game in 2016 while at basic training. Ever since, I've learned how to DM and ran 12 homebrew campaigns, and only played in 2 games when first starting out. It would be awesome to get the chance to play with another experienced DM and see how other's do, since now I just keep teaching my friends who come and go how to play. I've never done PbP before, so I think it would be an awesome experience! Ultimately, I'm just looking for a group who wants to have a great time where everyone shares the spotlight and makes an incredible adventure!)
-PERSONAL INFO (Now that I've told you about my DND experience, I'll tell you some fun facts! I am a heavy metal nerd, and play the drums and saxophone [that's why I love bards]. I've been in the AF for 3 years and going, and have played in a bunch of different campaigns since joining. I love the outdoors and anything relating to it, but do hibernate when it comes to gaming! I have two kitties named Kylo and Bubbles who love to cuddle.)

Once again, I thank you for considering my application! It would be an honor to sail the seas of Saltmarsh with you and your crew! Here's to long life, treasure, and adventure!
Wolf had a fairly odd life. He never knew his parents. They died before he was born. He never knew them nor does he really care. He had a wonderful time growing up.
Wolf grew up in a small shady tavern, called the Golden Whale, in the Dock Ward within Waterdeep. It was owned by an older male Dwarf named Brottor Holderhek. Brottor is a bit gruff and only speaks when he absolutely has to. However, he is also full of compassion for those he considers his family and his favorite customers. Brottor found and raised Wolf from a young age.
Wolf had a fun and wonderful time growing up in the tavern. As a toddler he would run around the bar, howling and chewing on whatever he could find. All the sailors that came in would laugh at Wolf and his little antics. Wolf loved making everyone laugh and be happy.
As he grew up Wolf began to help out more and more at the tavern. Brottor taught him how to cook and brew. Brottor himself was a master dwarven chief and brewer. However, he had never taken on a apprentice before Wolf but did his best to teach the shifter everything he knew. Wolf loved to cook and brew. Wolf also loved to fight and was excited whenever a brawl broke out at the tavern.
As a shifter Wolf grew up much faster than most other races. He was a young adult by 10 and was already on his way to be drunk. Wolf loved to drink whatever he brewed. When he was drunk Wolf would make a fool of himself. Dancing, acrobatics, juggling, whatever he could do to make people laugh. He also loved to fight while drunk. The drunkenness made it less painful and his movements sporadic. People have a hard time hitting him as he lashes back out with fists, kicks, and sometimes even a bite of two. When he's not fighting Wolf is a little bit of a flirt. He cannot help it. Growing up in a tavern that sailors often visited its easy for him to find a guy for a night or two. Though he has nothing more serious than that.
Though Wolf loves to have his fun there are some things he's very serious about. Well, really only two things, cooking and brewing. Whenever he cooks or brews Wolf's entire demeanor changes to that of a master. His years of training come into play and he is solely focused on making the best meal or the best drink possible. Sometimes, when he was cooking, Wolf felt a great power inside of himself that helped. He was all set to inherit the tavern and have a great life. Until he made a drunken mistake.
Wolf was 16 and being his normal drunken goofy self. It was like any other normal night until a group of men came in and started roughing the joint up. They had never been there before but were demanding free food and drinks. Wolf had dealt with people like this before and normally they are easy to kick out. However, these individuals would not move and when Wolf insisted things turned violent. It didn't take long for Wolf, Brottor, and the rest of the loyal patrons of the tavern to join in and help kick those guys out. It wasn't until the next day that Wolf understand who he was messing with.
Wolf, who had gone out to buy some ingredients, come back to see the tavern vandalized and Brottor beaten to a pulp. The individuals we kicked out yesterday were part of the Xanathar's Guild. They were looking for Wolf; they wanted to kill him for what he did. Knowing they would stop at nothing to accomplish Brottor told Wolf to flee. Fearing for his life he did. Wolf gathered what little he had, said goodbye to Brottor and got on a ship out of Waterdeep.
When that ship docked Wolf jumped on a new different ship. It was this ship that he has been sailing on for about a year. He got a job immediately as a cook on this vessel when he won it in a cooking match against the previous ship cook. He quickly gained a reputation on board as a fun loving guy who makes people laugh as well as good food and drinks. He is happy to make the crew laugh and enjoyable food and drink for them. He is also excited to visit a variety of places and expand his culinary views. He still enjoys to fight as well and will happily go along on an adventure. And a pretty face can also get him to do about anything as well.

D&D/PBP Experience: I've been playing D&D for about four years now. I've only played 5e but I love it. I have played in person and over voice and video chat. I curently play on twitch as well (shameless plug of ThePlasteredDragon) I also have a lot of experience playing PBPs. I have played a variety of games on these forums but have shifted to playing more and more on Discord. I am just now shifting back to playing on the forums in order to expand who I play with.
Yourself: I've never been good talking about myself. I'm a gay man from Michigan who is hoping to go into Law School within the next year. I want to study legislations and help queer individuals know and fight for their rights. When I'm not playing D&D I am normally hanging out/cuddling/spoiling my Corgi. His name is Cade and he is only a year old and the cutest thing ever. I am also an avid fan of anime, tv, video games, reading, and Drag Queens. Currently I'm replaying Kingdom Hearts 3 because I love that series. You'll also see my active rather late in the day becaue I work midnights shifts as a security guard for an apartment complex right now. Not my dream job but it pays the bills. It was already mentioned above but I'm also a member of a twitch channel called The Plastered Dragon. We play a variety of gaming content including 3 D&D campaigns: one in eberron and two in modern day USA. I play in one of the modern day games. If you're interested check us out.
Discord Chatroom: Yes I love Discord
Pirate Quotes: I can't help but put two of my favorite quotes. "But why is the rum gone?" - Jonny Deep and "Good night Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning." - Dread Pirate Roberts
Thank you for considering my applications. Obviously there is a ton of time before the module comes out. And I'm willing to work on and keep tweaking Wolf until then. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions feel free to PM me. :D
Background: Laurens was a laborer working odd construction jobs around Waterdeep. One evening after drinking in the Dock Ward he found himself press ganged into a ship and out at sea. Here his skills were put to use keeping the ship in good repair. When he failed to salute with proper enthusiasm one day he was flogged quite hard as "Dwarves are a stubborn lot."This started his disdain for absolute authority of the ship's officers. As the voyage went on more grumblings began amongst the crew, rumors that their destination was unknown, or some where far to the east and they would never return home began to circulate. Laurens fell in quickly with the mutineers. They were successful and took the ship turning to piracy to support themselves.
Now Laurens has found his back to the Sword Coast, and is running out of money. He looks to the sea and a return to piracy to fill his pockets again.
I took the Background Folk Hero and some appropriate Flaws, Bonds, etc, that should match this story reasonably.

DnD/PbP Expierence: I have been playing DnD since 3.5ed. This would be my 3rd 5e campaign, and first play-by-post. I'm currently running a 5e game on Monday nights. I want to find a good PbP campaign because posting once or twice a day is very friendly to my schedule and will scratch that "be a player" itch I have.
Vote for OOC: Discord would be great.
Quote:
Heaven you fool? Did you ever hear of any pirates going thither? Give me hell, it's a merrier place. I'll give Roberts a salute of 13 guns at the enterence.
Myself: I work in IT, and run a minor league soccer team in Alabama. I love TTRPGs and exploring worlds within them. I'm excited for this campaign and Ghost of Saltmarsh in general because I like sailing and anything that let's me mix piracy and DnD is good in my book. I have plans to build a small sail boat and take it around the bay and barrier islands where I live one day.
BACKGROUND: It takes a village to raise a child, and in Sana's case, that village was the ship The Devil's Luck, a pirate ship whose captain was devoted to Tymora. The changeling never learned how she wound up on The Devil's Luck as a baby, but the whole crew treated her like family. Sana spent her youth learning to tie knots, take loot, and-of course-venerate Tymora. But nobody, not even Captain Resslemore, could have predicted how well she'd take to religion. Sana began having dreams every now and then when she spoke with a woman with eyes like coins and silver hair who said she was a luckbringer. Sana became adept at making her own luck, whether it was using her shapechanging abilities to get out of tricky situations or just knowing if the ship neared sacred (or desecrated) ground. She even figured out how to transfer a little of that luck onto others, closing wounds a little faster than usual and intuitively understanding how injuries worked. When she was twenty, the woman in Sana's dreams told her it was time to bring her luck to others in the world. She bid a fond farewell to the crew of The Devil's Luck, and set off into the world to make her own luck. Knowing what she loved, she joined another pirate ship, where she quickly gained a reputation for being willing to go into the midst of a battle to keep her patients safe. Outside of combat, Sana is easygoing and loves some good gambling, maybe a little too much-her natural luck doesn't always extend to dice or cards.

YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: I've been playing D&D for nearly 4 years, both on on an actual table and online. My dad actually originally introduced me to 3.5, but I converted mostly over to 5e after about a year, although I've still got one game IRL in 3.5. Due to my schedule, most of my games these days are online, but I still try to get a group together once or twice a month in real life.
YOURSELF: I'm a student in North Carolina who uses she/her pronouns. My two passions are genetics and game design, and I'm planning on getting my degree in one of those two. I usually split my downtime between reading, D&D and researching random topics that pique my interest. I also fence epee once a week, and participate in speech events at my school (humorous interpretation, which is essentially a ten minute long one-act).
VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS: Yes, I'm a big fan of Discord
GIMME YOUR BEST PIRATE QUOTE: "Always be yourself, unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate."
Name: Syltra (her given name, Síanwydni, is unpronounceable by the people of Saltmarsh) Class: Cleric (Tempest Domain) Background: Urchin.
Syltra was a wee young firbolg when disaster struck her home. Lightning it was, that started the fires. And when she prayed for rain, it came in bitter torrents and floods. Her family and her home were wiped out entire...what weren't burned up in forest fires was washed away in the flood. Destitute she was; but by some miracle, still whole. Syltra soon found herself traveling to Saltmarsh for food and shelter. She found neither goodwill nor charity there, but eventually was taken up by a small urchin gang—an extension of the local cult o' Umberlee.
After spending several years in the port city, and falling in with the likes of us who are taken to sailing and plundering, Syltra hardened herself to adapt to life's harsh realities. She learned to revere both Talos and Umberlee, the gods who wrought the devastation on her home. But, rather than blame them, she works now to appease them, as she wouldn't wish her misfortunes on anyone else—she has a soft spot for the children. But I suspect that Syltra might have some darker motivations. Feeling helpless can have a way of making ye want to take certain types of action, so that ye never have to feel helpless again. And the power that a true tempest devotee can wield is, in a word, terrible.
Position: Rigger, though Syltra is convinced that she would make an excellent Boatswain. She would also make a good doctor, but she would never think to apply for it herself.

My Experience: I cut my teeth on Star Wars Saga Edition over a decade ago, and have been rolling ever since. Currently I'm running two games here on DDB, one of which has been going strong since September 2017. One of my favorite hobbies is introducing new people to the game, so I end up GMing a lot more than I play :)
Something about me: I enjoy writing and recording music, playing different instruments, and regularly help out with the music in my home church.
Vote for Discord: It's a YES for me. Way easier to use than DDB messaging.
Pirate quote: "Oh, the stories I could tell. So many of them true!" –Hondo Ohnaka (Rebels) (since JacWalke took my first two favorites! lol)
“Why ‘The Gull?’ because she’s loud, bad tempered, and willing to eat out of the garbage.” If you ask her, Indonila will say the garbage part is NOT true.
...Okay okay maybe it is but only when she’s had enough rum to make it seem like a good idea.
Indonila’s been hopping ports and getting into trouble since she was ten years old. If there’s anything in life better then drinking, sailing, and brawling she’s yet to find it.
Her Ma, who beds folk of all kinds for money, has no idea who fathered her. You’d think he would have stood out considering Indronila has some kind of lineage that ain’t from this plane. She spent her early years in the dock ward of Waterdeep, learning to take care of herself with her fists since she didn’t inherit her Ma’s charm.
She gave up working on legitimate seafaring voyages years ago. Who wants to sail with a bunch of merchants who will go crying the town guard after the first punch? Paaaaathetic.
She took to pirating like a duck takes to water. Liberating goods and money from merchants and nobles who think their status protects them so far away from civilization is a joy beyond measure.
With no fear of heights and a keen eye, she spends most of her time at sea up in the rigging- keeping an eye out and mending the lines and sails.

Captain Arial Valariath, a name that surely everyone on the seas knew. Or, at least they did! The once proud owner of the Monkey’s Providence, Arial’s ship and crew were mercilessly attacked and destroyed by cultists out on the open sea. Thankfully, he was thrown from the ship in the chaos and sank down to the depths. It likely would have been a more precarious position if not for the fact that he had gills and such. In any case, he awoke on the shores of the coast and made his way to civilization. Now, he’s washed up (pardon the pun), drinking like a fish (not even sorry) and ready to get back out on a ship to reclaim the vengeance that he was denied! Seems like a couple of well-placed cannonballs into the hull of an enemy ship can make for some excellent therapy!

NAME: Dew - CLASS : Water Genasi Druid - BACKGROUND: Dew grew up on a small rocky island that served as nothing more than a landmark for most. The fishing village that inhabited the island made their living helping passers by whether they be officials or criminals. Dew loved the simplicity of the island and the beauty of the open ocean. Often he would swim down to the ocean floor and just observe the animals around him. As an adolescent he would sneak out for days riding on dolphins and whales for miles and miles. Once he rode a shark but quickly learned his place in the natural pecking order. Even now the jagged outline of a scar across his lower torso reminds him of the attack and his struggle to survive. Despite the dangers Dew continued exploring when his father wasn't hounding him to help repair the spears, nets and docks around the island.
As Dew grew into an adult he saw many pirates. Some inviting him to tag along, while others threatened his life. Dew disregarded their empty claims knowing they needed his or his father's help to make it out of the rocky shores and sand bars. Unfortunately for Dew he finally ran across a pirate who held up that threat. Dew had seen the ship approaching in the night and admired the deft maneuvering of the ship through the rocks. When the ship landed he watched in horror as his father went to greet them as the captain drew his sword and stabbed his father through the heart. The last thing he remembered was a thunderous boom of a cannon and being flipped end over end into the water. Waking the following day he found the island in complete disarray. The corpses of his family and friends lie scattered on the ground. (flash forward to present) Dew still remembers the face of the man who killed his father and has been hunting him ever since. Allying himself with the next ship that came past the island Dew has served with a formidable crew using his skills to repair their ship.

- NAME: Siren Vice (Tiefling) - CLASS: Warlock - Archfey Patron - BACKGROUND: Siren was born and raised on the sea. Her mother was the captain of her own ship and she trained Siren to become the caption herself one day. Siren grew to become a master navigator, able to chart the most accurate of courses when she was still but a teen and became the Navigator's assistant quite quickly. One day, as they were sailing the seas, Siren spots an island that wasn't marked on the map. Excited by the discovery, they head towards the island. As they approached, however, a heavy fog suddenly covered the ship and everything turned black. When she awakened, she found herself in the Feywild with a massive Fey entity stood before her. In their hands laid her unconscious mother. They proclaimed that the ship had trespassed onto their territory and, as Siren was the one who spotted and directed the ship to the island in the first place, the Fey entity decided to punish Siren, forcing her to do their bidding or the whole crew would die. A deal was struck where the crew would continue to live their lives as normal but without the memory of Siren. In return for their lives, Siren would have to plant one seed, given to her by the Fey entity, whenever she would arrive at a new place. They warned her to not try and find a loophole and just plant seeds where ever she wanted, or else the deal would be broken and the crew would die. Siren agreed and, with the deal stuck, the Fey entity gave her a bag of seeds. Once she has planted all the seeds, the deal will be complete and the crew will remember her again. They transport the crew back to the ship and Siren to the nearest town. She plants her first seed and begins her journey around the world.

- NAME (Your characters name)
- CLASS (Lets keep it PHB and any official sourcebook choices for now)
- BACKGROUND (Tell me about your character - remember, we're you're part of a PIRATE CREW)

- YOUR TIME ZONE (Where you from?)
- YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE (Got experience?)
- YOURSELF (Tell me something interesting about YOU, not your character.)

QUESTIONS?
Got questions? I've got answers! Go ahead and send me a PM, i'll get back to you ASAP. I know there's probably things I didn't cover, but we'll get to it as we near the release date of the campaign. Thanks so much, and good luck!
- NAME: Anion Dorovar (Link to D&DB Character Sheet)
- CLASS: Sorcerer (Storm Sorcery)
- BACKGROUND: Anion is an aquatic half-elf who struggled to find purpose in his life.

DM: Waterdeep: Dragon Heist
- NAME: Anthony "North" Zeak
- CLASS: Rogue (Scout)
- BACKGROUND: Born a nobody from nowhere, North, as he went by, always had to stick out for himself. however, one day, he hit the jackpot.

- NAME : Indigo
- CLASS : Tortle / Cleric (Tempest Domain)
- BACKGROUND : Indigo (Indigo is her nickname, her given name being Sooka) grew up with her brethren on the continent of Chult.
- POSITION : Cook
- YOUR TIME ZONE : PST, California
- YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE : I've been playing D&D since the 90s and P&P RPGs since before that. Relatively new to PbP, probably about a month of experience there.

- NAME : Whisper
- CLASS: Warlock (Great Old One)
- BACKGROUND: Whisper had a name at one time and place that meant something.
- YOUR TIME ZONE: EST
- YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: Not that I like being "that guy" to play the buddy card, but I've got 2 names to ring a bell: Grishkar Darkmoor (Ravenloft 1983) and Shariel (Tomb of Annihiliation).

Name: Wolf (Longtooth Shifter)
Class: Monk (eventual into a Drunken Master)
Background:

Character Sheet: https://ddb.ac/characters/9912534/dBISGd
Name: Laurens Wright
Class: Cleric of the Forge
Position: Ship's Carpenter
TimeZone: Central (-6:00)
DnD/PbP Expierence: I have been playing DnD since 3.5ed. This would be my 3rd 5e campaign, and first play-by-post. I'm currently running a 5e game on Monday nights. I want to find a good PbP campaign because posting once or twice a day is very friendly to my schedule and will scratch that "be a player" itch I have.
Vote for OOC: Discord would be great.
Quote:
Myself: I work in IT, and run a minor league soccer team in Alabama. I love TTRPGs and exploring worlds within them. I'm excited for this campaign and Ghost of Saltmarsh in general because I like sailing and anything that let's me mix piracy and DnD is good in my book. I have plans to build a small sail boat and take it around the bay and barrier islands where I live one day.
Sheet: https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/booksbooks3/characters/9896140
NAME: Sana
CLASS: Paladin
BACKGROUND:
It takes a village to raise a child, and in Sana's case, that village was the ship The Devil's Luck, a pirate ship whose captain was devoted to Tymora.
POSITION: Doctor
YOUR TIME ZONE: North Carolina, East Coast Time
YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: I've been playing D&D for nearly 4 years, both on on an actual table and online.

DM: Waterdeep: Dragon Heist
- NAME Indronila the Gull (Air Genasi)
- CLASS Monk
- BACKGROUND

- NAME: Arial Valariath
- RACE: Triton
- CLASS: Bard, Later Swords Bard
Link: https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/JcAndD/characters/9995285
- BACKGROUND:
- POSITION: Well, Captain would be lovely. Not an option? Bah. Master Gunner then! I’m good at ordering other people to do work! Hehe
- YOUR TIME ZONE: Good Ol’ Mountain Time
- YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: Well, I’ve been the DM for currently 2 Games, a player in numerous others, AND two of those were yours ;D.
- YOURSELF: In the debate between pirates versus ninjas, I am a firm proponent of the ‘Pirates are better’ position haha! I also enjoy watching a variety of Twitch streams when I’m not playing, working, or doing some hybrid of the two. Other than that, I also have played with a good number of other people also applying and I have nothing but positive things to say!

NAME: Dew
- CLASS : Water Genasi Druid
- BACKGROUND: Dew grew up on a small rocky island that served as nothing more than a landmark for most.

- NAME: Siren Vice (Tiefling)
- CLASS: Warlock - Archfey Patron
- BACKGROUND: Siren was born and raised on the sea.
