(OOC: I think Eilikasys is coming on the boat and the boat is stopping in Waterdeep to drop her there first, and then the boat is going to the island?)
Erric , smiling, weighs in mid-banter with their new companions, "Maldorn I think you mean 'Zapato' not Sagitta, don't you?"
The ride to Mantrelle is overcast and a bit chilly, but very comfortable. Nothing of great import occurs on the trip.
Jambiya and Jarvis exchange small talk. Jarvis explains he owns the coach and is hired by travelers for a living. That he knows of, he's never transported anyone of any import. Jambiya occasionally attempts to engage Olexis and Sephra as well, but the two horses do not reply back. Jarvis tells her in an apologetic way that they're probably just too busy to talk.
Jarvis lives in a small community north of Seldom Spring, about half way to Luskan. His three brothers also live there. One is a traveling merchant, one runs the livery (and provides free room and board to Olexis and Sephra), one owns a tavern, and one is a librarian. The traveling merchant knows Eilikasys, and that's how Jarvis got the job transporting them from Mantrelle to Seldom Spring and now everyone back to Mantrelle.
Maldorn and mainly Erric entertain Eilikasys and Ebokk inside the coach while Anafrey snoozes. Ebokk is amped, and makes regular jovial interjections. Maldorn cat naps and Sagitta crawls about the interior of the carriage, investigating, but avoiding getting too near any of the passengers except Maldorn.
During a quiet moment when the others seemed like they could use a break from conversation, Erric was going to pull out some string and a small piece of wood and ritually cast unseen servant inside the carriage. Very slowly, the burrs and small bits of grass would be gently combed out of and removed from Anafrey's locks. Dirt smudges slowly disappear. She begins to smell a bit more like a wildflower meadow than a musty culvert. Any unwanted parts of the woodlands that made their way into Jarvis' carriage subtly exit through the windows.
He gives the others a bit of an apologetic look, and a small smile, then looks out the window for any sign of Mantrelle.
As they pass by different trees and bushes, Erric will lean out of the carriage and grab any flowering buds and begin to weave together a circlet crown of the best flowers he can find, humming to himself or telling short jokes and riddles to anyone who's interested in talking.
Maldorn wakes up suddenly, slightly choking on his own drool. “Are we there yet?” he asks, even before remembering who is supposed to be in the coach with him and where they are going. His facial expression changes to one of calm as his memory catches up to him.
As the time passes and the travelers get closer to the coast, the cloud cover thickens, and the wind picks up. After about three hours, Jarvis says to Jambiya, "It looks like we might get rained on, Miss. I wanted to warn you in case you want to join the others inside." [I'll let you say whether she does or not.] Three and a half hours into the ride, the sky opens up in a deluge. The heavy rain doesn't do anything to halt their forward progress, but it's loud, the excitement of the trip gets dampened, and Jarvis (and Jambiya, if she stayed outside) is immediately a drowned and cold rat.
Eilikasys, Ebokk and Maldorn don't look at all surprised by the rain. Shortly before midday, Ebokk, who's been watching out the window for a little while, says, "I think we're getting close to Mantrelle." Anyone else who looks out sees the road is passing a farm. Due to the rain, it's hard to make out, but the Sea of Swords is starting to appear at the horizon.
"It's been a long time since I last visited Mantrelle" Maldron says. "It is bringing back memories of backward-thinking halflings and bad hospitality. Don't expect much from these folk."
Erric will try to shift his unseen servant from cleaning off Anafrey to sitting on the top of the carriage with an empty sack Erric has, holding it up and shielding Jarvis from the worst of the rain when the skies start to open up....
After passing a few farms, the carriage enters Mantrelle proper. It consists of about 10 buildings, some commercial, most houses. The road continues toward the docks, which stretch like fingers out into the Sea of Swords. Despite the rain, those looking out the windows of the carriage see about eight halflings slogging through the puddles. All of them are looking with scowls at the passing coach. Jarvis, somewhat protected from the rain by Erric's unseen servant, is singing out a pleasant greeting to each.
The carriage pulls up in front of one of the largest buildings, a one-and-a-half-story building. A halfling is standing on the covered porch, arms crossed.
"This is the general store," Ebokk says to the other occupants of the coach, talking over the sound of the pounding rain. "The tavern is across the street," he says, motioning toward a squat building. "The Nightshade is, of course, that way," he says, jerking his head toward the Sea.
"So, where are we bound now? Is your captain staying at the tavern?" Erric says. When he says "tavern" he pokes Anafrey not extraordinarily gently with the side of his foot. "Do you need anything from the store? That person over there doesn't look exceedingly friendly."
With his smile only wavering a bit, he looks to the sea, "Do you think they'll want to sail in this weather?"
(OOC: Erric knows halfling as a language -- is this it a language with a billion different dialects or is it pretty universal? Would he assume they can easily understand him as a dwarf speaking dwarvish would be understood halfway around the world?)
Jambiya will have stayed on top of the coach, though she did pass her bag down into the cabin. If Jarvis and the horses are expected to withstand it, so will she. Also, she's trying to commune with nature. Erric's magical tarp is much appreciated, but she still arrives a wet and cold mess, sniffling and grumpy (for her).
When the carriage stops, she will turn to Jarvis and say, "Master Jarvis, it was a pleasure to meet you, and I hope to see you on our way back. Take care."
Then she will hop down and visit with the horses, thanking them for pulling all through the rain. She will feed them each a Goodberry.
Then, finally, she will climb on to the porch with the grumpy Halfling, out of the rain. "Rainy," she says, shivering a little.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Ebokk gives Erric a sheepish look. "I'm, er, technically the captain," the dwarf says. "It's really more of a title than a position. Bosun Grout — he's the one who keeps the ship running — was told he and the crew needed to stay aboard while we were gone, so I imagine that's where he'll be." He briefly looks out the window at the store. "I've got everything I need waiting for me on the Nightshade. Are you all ready? We've got provisions for on the ship enough to cover you all ... probably," he says with a slightly thoughtful look. "The only thing you would need to be prepared for is the inevitable search of the island." Looking again at the rain, Ebokk hums a short sound of thinking. "I'm not sure if the rain will keep us from sailing or not. That's a question for Bosun Grout."
Jarvis returns Jambiya's salutations and helps her climb down as he does the same. He steps up onto the carriage's step and peers into the window. "Anyone want out?" he calls.
The horses relay to Jambiya that they are appreciative of her attentions and the goodberries. They are happy to stop for a while as the road is hard in the rain. When she steps up onto the porch out of the rain and greets the halfling, he continues to stand with his arms crossed, not speaking to the little goblin girl, but eyeing her unabashedly in a most disapproving way.
Anafrey sits up with a snort, patting herself down to make sure she is not wounded and no one has stolen any of her things. "What the... where are we?"
Once she's blinked a dozen times, Erric gives Anafrey a brief update on where they are and what's happened.
To Ebokk, he says, "You're the boss so we can do whatever you like. Whether that's the soggy ship, or the dry tavern, is totally up to you."
He jumps down from the carriage, nods at Jarvis, and recalls the unseen servant to move the now-sodden sack-umbrella to hover over Erric's head as he walks around in the rain. As Jambiya approaches the halfling on the porch of the general store, Erric gives a friendly wave, and says in halfing, "Hello friend, it's nice to visit your lovely town. We're just passing through to a ship from Seldom Spring. I wish I had news from there but there's not much to say. Any news from around these parts? Also I have a question for you: Have you seen Bosun Grout anywhere other than the Nightshade?"
The halfling on the porch grunts at Erric, looking more grumpy than suspicious. "They've stayed on their ship," he grumbles. He looks at Jambiya and back at Erric. "Why don't you join them?"

Maldorn laughs along: “How about I skin you instead, Neric? I am sure those huge feet of yours have quite the tough hide. Perfect for some Zapatos.”

Jambiya just enjoys being outside, and Jarvis is a delightful companion. She'll regale him with one of Dirk's stories to pass the time.

You all are on the Sword Coast. Accents wouldn't vary that much.
OOC: Good to know! Erric's still listening to Ebokk.
“I suggest we stay here as little as possible, but like Neric said, the weather may disagree...” Maldorn says, disappointed.
