OOC: No illusion. Jambiya stood at one end and looked. The walls are rough. From her vantage point, it looked like a dead end.
Three passages converge here to form a small nondescript cave. No one hears anything, but looking to the left, you can see the soft glow of the myconid spores. That way leads out. To the right, those that can see in the dark can see a fairly long hallway that fades to black.
"We could bring Thrakk over to the myconids to watch over him, whatever he is, while we check out the other passageway,"Erric says, still listening for any clacking noise.
He offers to help carry Thrakk's form into the myconid cave.
"Honestly, Erric, I'm rethinking my earlier suggestion of bringing the orc to the mushrooms. They might decide that binding someone securely counts as violence and release him."
Jack carries the torch north through the tunnel. Twenty to 30 feet away, the torch illuminates something about the size of a melon that doesn't look quite like a rock.
"Found something. Maldorn, is this what you heard clanging? I can have Jack pick it up, not sure what it is..."Erric stays put, looking up, down, all around, for anything else in the tunnel. "Skadoula said there is a magic item, that can help Anafrey, and help Flindbar, that can be carried out of here. Maybe that's it?"
The torch continues to float as the melon thing rises into the air as if being picked up. The two objects float back south toward the party. It being illuminated brightly by the very close torch, when it is about 15 feet away, the party realizes it is a head. At 10 feet, they can see it is a grimlock's head. The head and torch pause five feet away from Erric.

The head is not bleeding, nor does it respond to Erric's greeting. If you want to analyze the state of the head, roll a medicine check.
You all are moving north? The tunnel is five feet wide for 20 feet and then 10 feet wide after that. What's the order? And is Jack's torch still the only light source?

Jambiya watches as the boys wander around, bumping in to things and craning their ears for soft noises. "What are you listening for?"

EDIT: Well, I guess she deserved that for being snotty. :)

“Good Boy, Sagitta! Finding our path when your blind old master can barely see in front of him!”
OOC: was it really a Dead end + illusion or has it always been a T-junction + misinterpretation deal?
OOC: Does Maldorn continue to hear the strange noise?
OOC: We are really roleplaying not knowing what we're doing well.
OOC > We might be the most incompetent party ever.

Erric nods, semi-thoughtfully at Maldorn. No orc-moving, but he still wants to go explore. He sends Jack with the torch ahead down the path.
Jack carries the torch north through the tunnel. Twenty to 30 feet away, the torch illuminates something about the size of a melon that doesn't look quite like a rock.

I'm assuming you all are still standing in or very near the T junction, and Erric is motioning toward the melon-thing from there.
Yes, that's where Erric is...
“Maybe...” Maldorn responds. “We’ve been cautious in our approach so far, so no reason to stop now. Yes, see if Back can pick it up.”
Jambiya is peeking around the corner, probably from behind Maldorn. Her dancing lights are off right now, so Jack’s torch is the only light.

Is it bloody? Recently removed? Moving? Marked in some way?
"Um, hello?" Erric asks, a bit credulously.
"Ew," Jambiya says, no longer feeling bloodthirsty.

“That’s... disturbing. Let’s keep moving cautiously.”
Anafrey would keep her eyes peeled.. looking slightly concerned at the grimlock head as she follows the group.
