Erric is gasping and coughing on the slanted deck, in a way that might seem overdramatic, but the poor boy did almost just drowned in a shark feeding frenzy along with his friends.
Once he's caught his breath, he rolls over on his back and looks at the sky, still rejoicing in the ability to breathe air, and wipes his eyes and face with trembling hands.
"Why," he asks no one in particular, "would anyone ever spend time on, in, or around the ocean? That was TERRIBLE!" His head lolls over to where the bundle is. "That thing had better have been worth it and not just be some old shoes or a chain or some dissolved papers or something."
He makes a sound that's supposed to be a sigh, but comes out as the kind of sound a deflating waterskin would make.
"Ebokk's really bleeding, can someone help him with that? Maldorn thank you for not jumping in the water like we fools. Wait why are you all wet? Anafrey, thanks for jumping in, but maybe take a bit of a break from the booze while we try to stay alive. You're acting weird. Jambiya, I thought I'd lost you. Please don't do that again. And maybe think about tying a rope to yourself when you swim somewhere scary so we can pull you back?"
He starts catching his breath again and just sort of quietly groans to himself, going fetal.
Breathing hard from helping everyone out of the water, Maldorn answers the question posed to him: "I'm afraid my knees aren't what they used to be, young Teric. I should be embarrassed to admit I fell into the water more than once while trying to keep my balance on the deck and grip on the rope. I can swear Sagitta was laughing at me too..."
He looks at the snake as if he had the intention to catch the animal grinning right then and there. Then, he looks at the bundle he helped bring onto the deck: "Care to open that there, Outlook? Also, here, why don't you eat one of these berries Ms. Jambiya gave me yesterday. It'll help."
Jambiya crawls over to Ebokk and feeds him her two berries as well. Then she lays down quietly next to Eric, and pats him.
“Thank you, Eric. I think maybe I am done with danger. Maybe with adventure. Twice in two days we have nearly died. Let’s finish what we set out to do for Master Ebokk, and go home.”
"So it is weird to try to save ya from sharks... Fine then." Anafrey would say as she struggles to get to her feet as blood drips down her arm where the shard had bit her, pooling at her feet. "If anything, you are going to drive me to drink more...." She would grumble as she wipes some of the white hair from her face, leaving red streaks in her hair from the blood dripping off of her fingertips. A moment later, Anafrey would draw her flask and take a hard swig while glaring at Erric.
Anafrey would let our a loud belch after her swig from her flask before looking to Jambiya. "That isn't the only thing that might escape..." she would say with her hand on her chest, trying to hold back a grin.
Okay if no one else is looking into the bundle, Erric will open it and see what's inside.
(How long has passed since they first stepped foot on the deck of the ship? Erric's unseen servant lasts for an hour, and I don't think he took any damage from the sharks but may have broken concentration by almost drowning.)
“Oh! That’s right!” Jambiya will sit up and join Erric at the bundle. Standing up she’s a little woozy from blood loss, but she totters over and sits down next to Erric and the item.
OOC: We're in a land of magic. What's a little almost losing a limb to a shark when you can just sleep eight hours and be completely fine? :)
Ebokk eats the three berries and waves off anymore concern. He then motions toward the bundle, encouraging its opening. As they begin to open it, he answers Jambiya, "That's all I saw in the short time we were down there."
Erric has to work to get the fibers to release enough to look inside the ... you guess it was a sack. Inside the cocoon are three rolls of wet linen that look to still be in good shape, despite the condition of the container.
Maldorn:
I can't remember if I told you this already, but the effects of your tobacco have worn off.
It's probably right at an hour since first stepped on the ship. But I'd say it's pretty definite that Erric would have stopped concentrating on Gill when he was desperate to save Jambiya.
Erric will unroll the linen and see what might be inside. More as a thing to focus his mind than to actually try to find something of value. "Ebokk was the pirate into textiles?" he says without looking up.
He'll then try to dry off a bit and gather himself (short rest anyone?), and ask, at some point, "What are we doing here? Ebokk, this place has been picked clean. We can go look on the island for some sign that a person brought the beard ring ashore and then left it there. Seems that's the only thing to do, if we're in shape enough to try it again. Otherwise we can go home. We've kept you alive in the search so far. Does your research give you any other insights on our current predicament?"
I don't think you had, so thanks for the letting me know.
Maldorn will try to light the one torch he brought by asking Jambiya to help him with her magic. If it takes a few tries, he is happy to wait. The goal is to help dry everyone up, and he makes it obvious it is so. "I hope it is not wet beyond use," he says.
Jambiya looks over at Maldorn. "Is that safe on a wooden boat? I guess there's a lot of water around..." She will attempt to help Maldorn light the torch with her fire conjuring!

The linen unrolls a bit stubbornly, but from what you all can tell, it's still in good condition. The rolls are just that: rolls of linen.
Ebokk shrugs at Erric's question. "I didn't read anything about Flindbar and his crew being particularly fond of textiles, but I'm not that familiar with pirates in general. Perhaps they steal whatever they can get their hands on.
Jambiya helps Maldorn light a torch and Ebokk finds his second wind (7). The group decides to rest. (Hit the short rest button and use any hit dice you'd like to.)

While the group is taking a breather, Erric asks Ebokk at some point, "What are we doing here? Ebokk, this place has been picked clean. We can go look on the island for some sign that a person brought the beard ring ashore and then left it there. Seems that's the only thing to do, if we're in shape enough to try it again. Otherwise we can go home. We've kept you alive in the search so far. Does your research give you any other insights on our current predicament?"
Ebokk shakes his head a little. "Go home? We haven't searched the island at all. My father's beard ring must be there. It looks like Flindbar and his crew abandoned the Port Hand," he says, the name of the wreck sounding awkward as he says it for the first time. "They must have gone ashore. Surely my father's beard ring is there somewhere." He looks around at the group, his customary smile returning. "I have faith in you all. We've had some scrapes, but have come out alright each time. You're a fine team. Perhaps we should stick together in the future so that we can have each other's backs."
Jambiya, as the hour of rest is coming to a close, you judge the position of the sun and figure it must be directly overhead.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erric tries to dry off a bit in the sun, risking some sunburn. Eventually he starts to don his armor and personal effects, strumming his lute once the terror of the watery deep recedes from his brain. He'll start to compose a bit of a shanty involving dancing crabs, Bosun Grout, a lean-to shipwreck full of nothing interesting, and three sharks who fiercely guard the linen closet of a merman named Davijonz.
When he turns to Ebokk and asks his more existential questions and gets his response, he replies: "Sticking together is a good idea. Maybe you're right that they brought everything valuable or interesting ashore. To where, though?"
He turns to Maldorn: "What do your ranger eyes see? Any decent bets? Maybe that rocky crag to the west? Or the middle of the island? I don't fancy another donnybrook with the crabs, so maybe we row around to the west, getting a decent look at the bluff to see if we see anything, and try to land over on the west side of the island?"
He'll also check in with Jambiya to see if she's recovering okay. "Thought I'd lost you again. Maybe less with the jumping in headlong laughing at lifelines, mm? That's for me to do. How are you?
He asks Anafrey if he can have a swig from her flask. If she says no, he'll try to nab it when she's dozing or not paying attention (sleight of hand: 19) "Are you feeling alright? Getting a little worried about you. You don't seem yourself lately. Maybe dry land will help sort things out a bit? You're used to tromping through the woods. You and I might be able to put ourselves into the heads of pirates and scalawags... if you were to hole up after a shipwreck, where would you spend your time, and where would you hide your valuables and your beard rings?"
Maldorn lets the torch burn out during the rest, making good use of the fire to dry up. The water was all he had to worry about, and he considers himself lucky that he did not get in the way of danger this time, unlike his companions.
"My eyes can see as much as yours from this distance," he tells Erric. "I don't dislike the idea of exploring a differentportion of the island, but I still think the beach is the best area to land our vessel. Plenty of cliffs otherwise. With some luck, we killed all those crabs."

“Were there more than just this one bundle down there?” Maldorn asks as the group undoes the package.
"I... I think there was just the one," Jambiya responds, looking to Ebokk for confirmation.
