As the birds fly away, Maldorn swings his bow at one, but is unable to make contact.
Erric attempts to shoot an arrow, but fumbles. (Yes, dropping your bow and drawing a dagger is easily done. In fact, that could be your free action and bonus action for the round in which you fumbled, leaving you with all options the next round.)
Jambiya, on the other hand, fires off a perfectly-aimed shot. Her blast, once again, sends feathers flying. The creature, after a short boost upward, falls back to the incline and rolls down to the bottom dead.
Anafrey fires at the other retreating bird, shooting the arrow through the creature. It also falls and rolls down the incline dead.
Two birds are still visible circling. But it sounds like there are probably more than that.
Jambiya looks distraught, but also determined. "These birds are bad news when they get close, we gotta finish this before they come at us all at once." With that she will close one eye and point a finger, her tongue sticking out slightly as she concentrates, and squeeze off another crackling line of green and white power.
(If they are within 120 ft) 20 to hit, for 10 magical force damage

"Agreed, Jambiya," Erric says, only getting off three questions in one round. "How many do you see up there? Do we have to kill all of them? Maldorn, is this what these kinds of hawks normally act like?"
Erric will readyvicious mockery for when he sees a bird come back within 60 feet for 4 psychic damage and disadvantage on their next attack if it fails a WIS 13 save.

Jambiya's magic projectile slams into one of the two circling birds. Once again, feathers fly, and the body of the bird disappears behind the peak. Three more birds rise to start circling, their angry calls getting even louder. There are now four birds circling the peak.

Erric makes a magical snide remark and one of the birds jerks in the air, its wings seeming to hitch, but it then recovers.
Maldorn, you know birds can be very territorial. As far as you're concerned, they're not acting much out of the ordinary.
(OOC: I'm not sure if it is my turn but here we go. I'll place my attack inside a spoiler box just in case.)
Maldorn repeats himself: "These birds can get quite aggressive when defending their perches. Like I mentioned earlier, I think they are just acting like normal, territorial birds."
He then shoots an arrow and answers Jambiya's question: "We are far too committed to this to pull back now."
(In case you were wondering, and I know you were, the snide comment was, "Toucan play at that game!")
Erric looks around and tries to see if anything else is moving around the plateau, or off in the forest, or in the sky. He's tired of being taken by surprise. Perception: 20
He'll ready another vicious mockery for if another bird flies at them (3 psychic damage.
Anafrey would smile a bit. "Just think of how well we will be eating after collecting all these birds." He would say as she launches another arrow towards the angry birds...
Maldorn watches the flight patterns of the birds for a few seconds before releasing another arrow. The arrow pierces the chest of one of the blood hawks, then, still moving upward, the projectile pierces the neck of a second bird. Both birds fall to the incline and roll down lifeless.
Erric looks around the plateau again, and again, nothing to worry about catches his eye.
Anafrey releases her own arrow skyward and takes down another bird.
A single blood hawk still circles the peak, its cry now sounding more sad than angry in it solitude.

"Not too old after all!" Maldorn nudges Erric. He grabs another arrow and aims at the lone bird. "I am one with the wood... May you join your fellows in the after life. Know that you will not die in vain."
-> Longbow vs. Blood Hawk: Attack: 9 Damage: 7 piercing.
Maldorn pulls his arrow to the side a bit before releasing it...
Erric tries to grab for Maldorn before the arrow looses but is too late, looking around for things he had missed. He was fine defending the group from bird attacks that nearly killed Anafrey, but he is starting to feel guilt now that they are looking at the last one. He didn't want to come to the island and de-crab and de-bird it. For once he doesn't have words, he just grabs hold of Maldorn's spindly leg, and reaches his hand out toward Jambiya with a sorrowful look.
Jambiya shares Eric’s glance, her eyes troubled for a moment. “I’m trying to think of them as very dangerous chickens.” But she won’t shoot the last one, either.

Anafrey would turn to Maldorn and give a quick nod as the arrow flies through the air. If the arrow was enough to take the last bird out, she would simply place her bow on her back and look to the others after moving the white hair from her face. "That'll teach those birds!" She would say excitedly.
If the arrow is not enough to finish it off, she would draw another arrow and launch it towards the last bird. Attack: 18 Damage: 6
Anafrey would collect any birds and arrows she could from their ledge before attempting another climb. "I think a little help might be needed. The last time didnt go so well" Anafrey would reply wwhile rubbing her sore ribs.
"You are right, Veric. I was lost in the thrill of the hunt." Maldorn says apologetically. He then helps Anafrey collect the dead birds and spare arrows. Finally, he gestures for the group to begin climbing but will wait until Anafrey has placed a rope and some pitons in the rock before trying the climb himself.
Anafrey would place her hands and feet on the rock face and attempt to climb up to the peak once again. She would look up the wall nervously, remembering what happened last time before taking a deep breath and pushing forward.
