OK, minor illusion doesn't allow you to make the image appear to be moving (silent image specifically says you can use your action to make the image appear to move). It only takes six seconds to cast, so you could recast the image every six seconds, causing a kind of jumpy movement. But it is also silent. Or you can have a sound with no image. Are you wanting to create a silent bird that moves a little every six seconds so it appears to be moving, however jerkily 10 feet up the incline?
I wasn't even thinking of having it move, but having it jerkily move from time to time, perhaps every other round, alternating with vicious mockery, would work. The hope was that the sound of the mockery through the horn would suffice for sounds the bird would be making.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sorry. Read and promptly forgot about the horn.

Maldorn sets up his tent near the base of the second incline. Erric and Anafrey enter the tent and prepare their ambush. Maldorn, Jambiya and Ebokk hunker down behind the tent, hoping the temporary structure will provide cover. When everyone is ready, Erric conjures the image of a large, gangly bird in mid posture 10 feet up the incline and 20 feet north. He then takes a deep breath and blows a very strange tone, calling upon his memory of the sounds he has heard birds all over the Sword Coast make.
Everyone is looking up to see if the ruse works. Currently, the group can see three birds circling the peak. All three begin to squawk angrily, but only one flies down toward Erric's image.

Before the plan really gets underway, Erric says, partially to himself and partially to his friends nearby, "we keep getting attacked by nature here. Never really happened to me before. Least not like this. First a house full of ghosts with a pair of murderous kenku outside. Now When Animals Attack."
He blinks, and says a bit louder, "Wonder if the crabs, sharks, and birds are following someone's orders."
OOC: You have seen more than three. Only only see three now.
OOC2: Rereading the posts, I'm getting mixed messages. The plan specifically says you're only attacking birds that threaten you. But the plan also says to try to distract the birds with a decoy 30 feet away. Two birds are still flying around above (at least right now) and one is flying toward the decoy. Are you attacking or what?
(ooc: I thought we were attacking the ones that come after the decoy, hoping to only attack a couple at a time and not the whole flock.. but I might have been confused too lol.)
OOC: I think that is correct - we are starting by attacking the birds that get close to attack us (first self-defense priority) and then attack the ones that get close to the decoy.

Jambiya INT: 9
Maldorn INT: 14+3=17

Round 2 (for lack of a better way to explain this — Maldorn, Jambiya and Anafrey have readied attacks; Erric created his illusion; Ebokk is dodging with his shield ready between Maldorn and Jambiya): Maldorn, birds, Ebokk, Erric & Jambiya, Anafrey
Before we jump into this, I need to clarify one thing. Did the second tent get set up or are Maldorn, Jambiya and Ebokk hiding behind the tent Erric and Anafrey are inside of?
Jambiya: 11 to hit, for 10 force dmg (copied and pasted)
Anafrey: 10 Damage: 7 (copied and pasted)
Maldorn's arrow hits first, altering the trajectory of the bird. Subsequently, Jambiya's and Anafrey's attacks miss. The hawk hits the ground and rolls the 15 feet or so to the bottom of the incline. It is dead.
Now begins Round 2.
Maldorn searches for the other hawks. (Investigation: 20) Maldorn, you can still see the two circling, but the noise has risen to include more voices. You deduce that the others must have landed either on the peak or somewhere else somewhat nearby.
For their turn, the two birds you can see are circling, but you aren't sure what the others are doing.
For his turn, Ebokk continues to wait patiently to see what is going to happen next.
Erric and Jambiya, you're up!
Maybe having this done in rounds doesn't make sense. We'll keep it up for a little while and see what happens.

Jambiya grumbles at having missed her target, then eyes the dead bird with a little guilt, then Readies another blast for the next one that comes within range (which is 120' so if the circling ones are within that range, she will shoot one).

OOC: Are there only 3 Blood Hawks in total?
Jambiya waits to see what transpires, her left hand crackling with white and green energy.
Action: Ready Eldritch Blast to trigger if the bird(s) attack us.

Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands.
Anafrey would stick the tip of an arrow out from the tent as she readies her shortbow. "Come a little closer ya winged rat..." She would grumble..

OOC: I’m not sure if I should roll for anything, even attacks, since I already rolled those four d20s in the spoiler boxes...
Jambiya doesn’t take her eyes off the birds. “I think nature is just meaner than we thought.”

"Fine," Maldorn says somewhat reluctantly. "But we are eating every bird we kill. No waste. I'm sure the crew can enjoy hawk stew tonight."

OOC: The latter. Maldorn did not set up the second tent.
OOC: I wasn't sure if I was supposed to post my turn just yet, so I'll do it in the spoiler box below:
Maldorn begins by performing a search action, hoping to deduce where the other hawks might be.
@DDP: I'll assume you'll use one of my previously rolled d20s, right?
OOC > So, Readied attack! (Right?) Here are some rolls for that, in case it happens now:
11 to hit, for 10 force dmg.

As soon as the creature swoops down as it about to make contact with Erric's minor image, Maldorn, Jambiya and Anafrey pounce.
OOC: I'm throwing out the rest of the spoiled d20s. They won't work for damage rolls anyway.
