The goblin warily looks at the two of you, and slowly moves his hands away from Tess in a non-threatening manner.
"Yeah, yeah I get it, I get it. Streak of bad luck for me saved your purses today, hope that good luck doesn't abandon you anytime soon ya bastards." The goblin suddenly scampers away from your arm lengths with the grace of years out on the streets, but before he sprints away at a speed that you all could tell would be hard to keep up with, with your bulky equipment, he gets one last verbal jest in your way. "I 'ope tin can there goes "combat mode" on yous in your sleeps! If you ladies want a good time, look for the Tin Street Dodgers! Heh heh!"
The people on the street beside you barely spare a glance at the encounter you just had, attempted street muggins are common here, but usually the offended party doesn't find out until minutes after the fact.
As you all head down Tin Street, further away from Nivix, you notice the surrounding buildings and housing getting taller and less grandiose. The familiar red and blues in clothing quickly become red and whites, as Boros guards patrol the streets of the Bulwark, the predominately Boros inhabitied low rent neighborhoods that separate the Smelting Quarter from Wayport and Golgari infested areas. Kamen Fortress stands high in the air, and it's gleaming archways is the barrier between Wayport and you.
Two human male's stand guard at the archway, looking about the same age as the group. Both are dressed in Boros Colors, one being gangly, and all together awkward with hair that's slightly too long for his facial features, and the other looking overweight for such a militaristic occupation. Both are bored, and obviously commenting under their breaths to each other on the people who pass under the archway.
Secret DM roll: 46
The overweight one nudges his companion when he see's you all approaching, and mutters something with a rather lecherous grin. The one who looks more like a beanpole with armor rather then a Boros legionnaire snickers, and is obviously eyeing Tess, Belit, Eck's bodies in a way that couldn't be more obvious even if he attached laser pointers to his eyes. You're all about 100 feet away at this point, and it looks like his companion is trying to egg him on to do something at this point, if the several nudges and whispered conversations are anything to go by.
Bêlit looks at the guards eyeing the ladies and then says under her breath to the others "I think the thieving Tin Street Dodger had more charm and a clearer sense of how he should act compared to those two."
"I agree Ethan. You both handled that little incident very well."
Tess's face is completely calm as Nam reprimands her, she looks as though she is thoughtfully listening to a lecture. Similarly, she remains expressionless through the whole encounter with the strange goblin fellow. She doesn't make an effort to wave him off or stand up for herself, the whole situation just seems like a strange new experience for her. She does, however, check to make sure all of her things are where she left them. After the goblin runs off she turns to her companions and her voice is utterly calm "Apologies, I was trying to learn my way. I will keep the map stowed until we need it. Thank you," she nods at Ethan and Strank"for helping me."
Unwanted stares and lust are things that Tess is familiar with, and her disappointment at their behavior is legible in her expression, but her voice remains monotone. "Are we are going through there?" She gestures toward the archway.
"I bet you could have done the same Belit. You know what life on the street is like, probably better then I do, certainly more recently anyway."
Ethaneye's the two guards,
"Heh, I have an idea, if you think they are going to try and hit on you. It involves a little tinkering and some nasty smells, but they may think twice about getting close to you."
Ethanpulls out his strange little pocket-watch-like device, playing with the dials and buttons, again releasing a little magic into the device.
Opening the device, Ethanreaches in and pulls out a small transparent disc and places it on his Izzet insignia.
The disc melds into the insignia, and anyone within 10ft of Ethanstarts to notice the nasty smell of sewage, coming from him.
"So if you like I can give you this, to get them to leave you alone, and then remove it once we are past them."
Ethan's smile is now, a much more sinister smirk, Ethantaps the insignia, releasing the magic, and stopping the smell.
Action: Use Magical Tinkering on his Izzet insignia: creating the nasty smell of sewage, before releasing the magic, to stop the smell.
"AAHA HA HA HA! oh that's funny, yeah, I will have to remember that, if or when we run into the Golgari!"
Ethan's smile, is once again a broad happy smile. Ethen grouches down, pantomiming talking/playing with a pet.
"Hey! Who's a good Golgari, ah? Who's a good Golgari, you want the sewage? Here fetch!"
Ethan pantomimes, throwing something off into the distance.
Smiling, Ethan stands back upright and wipes a tear from his eye.
"You have a great sense of humour Belit."
Turning back to the archway, Ethan asks the group,
"Of course we do need to get passed that check point, do we just head over and see how it goes? They do kind of look like trouble, but I don't think they would attack us, or try to rob us or anything, I mean they are Boros after all."
Nam watches the situation with the goblin with amusement then turns his attention momentarily back to Tess, “It’s ok, just stay close to the group”
As the group comes to the archway ponders the situation with the guards while covering his nose from Ethan’s smell spell. “I could just light them on fire” he suggest “otherwise we could just walk up and let them know we have work to do in the sewers below Wayport?” With a chuckle, “I like the fire idea more” as flame erupt in his eyes.
Nam is itching to burn something but also can’t stand the thought of those creeps ‘flirting’ with the women in his group.
“Hey Belit, how long would it take to find your friend and would they help us?” Nam’s logic side says less attention they attract, the better. His fire side says ‘Burn baby,Burn!’
She runs her fingers along one horn, pushing a lock of hair from her face. "I know some of the inns she frequents, some of which are around here but it would be the luck of the draw. She had helped me a lot in the past when things where...dire, but I have not seen her as much since I joined the League because I have been more inclined to stick to my studies than go on inn crawls with the Rakdos. You think I am a devil..." she says with a crooked smile.
Her golden eyes wonder over to the two Boros guards. "But those to chumps. I don't think they stand a chance against my silver tongue. I say we walk right through them and make them whimper."
Bêlit points a taloned finger at Nam. "Note Nam I did not say we burn the guards, the gate or anything around us. In fact you an forget about fire for the next ten minutes unless I let you know that it is a necessity. I will talk to them and let them know that we are to passe. Do we agree?" she says, looking at the others.
As the group turns away from incident, and heads south, Ethanapproaches Strank,
"Hey, thank for the backup, nice work. You cant back down from petty thieves like that, or they walk all over you."
"I...a, I still don't know what to call you. Any chance I could get your name?"

Bêlit strides confidently towards to the two Boros guards, pulling up just short of them. Looking intently from the awkward man to the plump man, she locks eye with each in turn, her tail swishing with annoyance. The tiefling keeps her voice brisk and sharp, her words punchy. As she approaches she takes out her Izzet League badge and flashes it quickly before tacking it back away, as if they should recognize the symbols authority.
"Gentlemen, gentlemen, we must past with some haste. We have been sent by the Izzet League on a mission of some importance and simply do not have the time to be held up. We must make it through to Wayport without delay, lives could depend on it, many lives. We have been given clearance to proceed."
She steps forward, waving for the others to follow. "Don't just stand there, hurry up and move it. You all know how important it is. Do I need to remind you who gave us the order to investigate... no I would think not"
As soon as one of the guards opens his mouth to comment or to stop her, Bêlit shoots him an intense look.
"Do you know who I am? Who you are stopping here? Who sent me to Wayport on this mission" her voice laced with intense indignation. "I suggest you let us pass before your superiors hear how it was you, yes you both, that lead to the deaths in Wayport." She points her taloned finger from one man to the next. "How the actions of two gate guards let the Golgari escape with murder. Why that could raise all kinds of questions...like who has been taking money from whom? Who could be a Golgari Swarm sympathizer. I suggest you just thank your lucky stars that trouble passed you by today and it called you friend rather than foe. Step aside and let me and my company pass" she hisses.
Tess motions to Bêlit as if asking her permission and steps in front of her without waiting for her response. She steps confidently and pulls her clothing straight, standing stiff backed with an air of authority.
"I think what the young miss is trying to say is, that our mission is of great import to the combined efforts of the illustrious Boros Legion and our humble League. If you delay us, it will come at great cost to both of our guilds. What say you let us pass in peace hmm?"
This is the first time any of team five has heard Tess put any modulation of pitch or inflection in her voice, she sounds pleasant but determined.

Kamen Foretress is a large, multi-tiered, concrete structure thats serves almost as important as a function for the Boros Legion as their guildhall, Sunhome. Back in the days early days of the warring factions, before the guildpact forced an uneasy alliance between the ten, Kamen was the Theater of Order, a place where angels would commune with the lowly citizens of Ravnica and pass wisdom and judgment for those under their steed. In modern times, now that angels have become more integrated into the guild and politically powerful in Sunhome, Kamen's main purpose is as a tertiary asset, a relic of the past, mostly kept around for a symbol of power keeping the Rakdos, Golgari, and to some extent Orzhov rabble makers in check.
Due to the Izzet's thorough testing on the structure and inner workings of how other guilds work, most of you recall some important facts about the structure and the Boros legion itself. The fortress itself is near impregnable, even if the fortress only had half the amount of soldiers it was built to house. The archway you are all under is near to the front of the fortress, but not quite. The original function of this arch was more of a tactical choke-point to cut tinstreet in half in times of emergency, this, combined with it's rather odd stylistic architecture, that makes it look almost like a giant stylized Omega shape with a large pillar in the middle of it, gaining it the name of Angel's Collar or "Angel's Shackle" if your talking to a rather Anti-Boros individual. Due to the original function of this archway, and some Izzet engineering that was originally a gesture of goodwill between your two factions, you know it can effectively shutdown the entire road and send alarm bells blaring within minutes, even minimally staffed. Therefore the archway is minimally staffed on most days, with a majority of the guards inside the inner-workings of the arch, listening for the sounds of a fight from the outside.
These two guards function as more of forward scouts for trouble, giant pincushions that's purpose is more to shout then effectively fight back against threats. The position itself is often referred to as some form of either "Screamer's Watch", "BabyFace Nursery", "Deadmen Standing". Usually reserved for the lowest common denominator for Boros recruits, those that get by from being some current members children, or have medical conditions, or are just generally incompetent, but not bad enough to be fully kicked out the guild.
