The two guards seem to be very surprised that the two girls came over, and initiated conversation with them. While technically they do have the authority to stop passerby's, especially those they consider suspicious, they don't exercise this too often to avoid awkward situations just like the one they currently find themselves in.
The intimidation attempt from the demon-like the girl seems to have the opposite intended effect, on the guards. The larger folk has a look on his face that say's he doesn't like the attitude she's putting in her speech, and before Tess can come to sooth the troubles he gets out an "Just what "important work" are you talking about? Golgari murderers? I think you and your friends will have to come with us."
Tess's introduction and calming words seem to have abated his aggression somewhat, but he still looks at the party with a somewhat sour frown that accentuates the rolls on his neck. "Do you all have some sort of proof for your "big, important" claims? We haven't heard anything about letting any Izzet through today."
Strank walks forward and shows his special insignia showing that this is official business. “I am STK 056, built by Velek of the Izzet league. Any further setbacks are high treason”

Are we ever sure that we exist? Do we have feelings? Or are we just NPC's designed to think highly? If so what is our purpose? Why are we here? Who are the players? Or are there Players?
"Now now sir, while we all know that these..." Tess gives the guards a pitying glance, "guards are often referred (and derogatorily at that I'm sure you don't deserve it) to as 'Deadmen Standing' I don't think we need to have any further threats. As my colleague presents, our badge of office. Now if you would kindly step aside, we'd be most appreciative." Tess walks through as if her business here is done.
The guards look at the badge being presented, and then at the masses of people currently passing through the gate without being checked over by the guards. All sorts of laughing goblins, humans with bulky trench coats, mercenaries with visible weapons poking through their clothing, those types of low lives. He scowls at the robot, and then at Tess. "Just get out of our sights. When I talk to my superiors during shift rotation, if they don't know about any Izzet's passing through, I'll make sure your faces are on every wanted poster the entire district over!" They wave you through, and return to their original positions of trying to look intimidating either end of the gate. Now that they have returned to work, the inflow of suspicious individuals seems to have stemmed somewhat, with lots of people hanging around inconspicuously nearby as if waiting for the next time the guards get distracted to head through the gates.
Once you pass through the Angel's Collar, you are confronted with a long, long series of stairs downwards that lead into the beginnings of Wayport. Wayport is a sort of open air market, and is known for being the biggest place for non-guild affiliated businesses and services to be run through the city. The Guildless have become almost a sort of unofficial 11th guild in recent times, with big mercenary and bounty hunter groups collating together to scrounge up work for their members in the face of tighter and tighter rules and regulations from the Azorious and Boros. If the top half of Tin-Street was the biggest blackmarket for material goods, Wayport is the biggest destination for services and the like, with non-affiliated apothecaries, enchanters, clergymen, prostitutes, sooth-sayers, and all other sorts of professions having some sort of hangout in this part of town.
There are a few routes you could go in terms of trying to find an entrance to the underground. You could try to roll history, although I would require a very big number to pass, maybe like a 21 or something. You could try asking passing locales, or try to get the information off of a store owner or tavern place.
To lay out the scene, imagine you have passed the main gates leading into Wayport. There is an area of about 100 feet or so in an semi-circle for passerby's to pick which street they would like to head down, and the streets veer off from this semi circle like the spokes of a wheel. The buildings themselves are tall, minimum of four stories, with stores at the bottom floors and second floors, and apartments on the top floors. The streets have rather bland names that don't seem to reflect what you would find in them, such as one of the streets having the name plate "Gharti Avanue" or "Agustin Plaza." The few stores you can immediately see seem to be a variety of restaurants, bakeries, and other food related businesses. Two bars, one looking particularly scuzzy and having it's name be in entirely goblin script, and the other one named "The Winking Owl", somewhat nicer then the goblin bar but easily lower-class then the pubs you all are used to in the fourth Precinct by Nivix. There also seems to be a number of magic related shops like apothecaries, enchantress shops, a fortune teller who runs her business from her apartment on the top of one of the buildings, and an second hand junk store.
The people around you are from all walks of life and species, but there actually seems to be few people actively sporting guild garbs. Instead you see a lot of earthy tones, browns, grays, and blacks, mixed in with a few colorful outfits, but specifically in non-guild related colors. The only person's around you can see seem to be some Rakdos hooligans who are walking around the semi circle in, well circles, drunkenly singing some indistinguishable song very off beat. The rest of the folk ignore them, though a few are shooting you all weird looks, that is until, one of the four hooligans reaches into his pocket, and lights a nearby fallen tree branch on fire. He picks it up, and seems to be going through some dance routine of his, still very very drunk. The town's people are now giving him and his group who are staring transfix-idly at the fire, a wide berth.
"Well we made it... one way or another. Maybe not as smooth as it played out in my head but we got here. Thanks for the help Tess and STK56...we really need to call you something easier than that. With more personality."
She looks around at the others. "Ideas...and where to from here? Maybe ask at the tavern?"

Tess actually not only knows one of the entrances to the underground in Wayport, she also personally the owner of the business above the entrance. Although locales only know the individual who runs a local book shop as an eccentric gossiper monger-er, who works part time as a private investigator named "Libs", Tess knows her as a sister, one of the run-away experiments from Izzet that tried living her own life with her unique set of skills. No one expects the old man or young child who sits down next to them on the bus or park bench as a private investigator fishing for juicy affairs or other secrets, but that's what happening. The underground entrance is actually a semi-private one that Libs personally uses to pop around major activity hubs in the city.
Tess, you think she would be agreeable to let you use it, but you can't be 100%. Libs was always the black sheep of the family, who argued publicly that all the brothers and sisters to leave Izzet and strike it big as their own independent faction in the city. Although she never insulted you directly, she has made it clear that she hates Izzet, and thinks the changelings that stuck around to be cowardly.
The rest of you can't seem to muster much information yourselves. Bars and Taverns are traditionally good places to gather information, Deadbridge is practically overrun by Golgari and their fungus at this point, only the bravest merchants, or those in the Golgari's pockets transverse the bridge, which ultimately leads to a small forested area outside the district limits that provides a portion of the cities lumber and other forest-y goods.
As Nam starts to speak, Tess is already wandering over towards her the private investigator's office, sighing audibly. She was hoping to keep her heritage under wraps for at least the first few missions, maybe she still could, but Libs was always so... proud of their abilities. She pauses as she notices the others lingering and rolls her eyes. Her voice remains low, measured. "Come on, as luck would have it I recognize someone. She's as likely to call the guard on us as she is to help; so be on your best behavior, I implore you."
Tess, ever proper and well mannered, knocks on the door prior to entering, she leaves it ajar for her companions to follow. She smiles slightly, her big blue eyes shimmering, and looks around for her sister. "Hello? Anybody home?"
Nam sees Tess yell at them to follow so he shrugs his shoulders and follows. When they reach the door, he will go inside then step to the side to allow the others to enter but doesn’t go any further himself.

The shop doesn't stick out from much of it's surroundings. Located near the middle of a long avenue in a building that houses a multitude of other shops, the only real distinguishing feature is that there is a multitude of popular fiction and non fiction books displayed proudly in the window's, and a stylized sign that has a large rainbow iris'd eye in middle of an open book with blank pages.
The minute you shout, a large crash sounding suspiciously like a multitude of books falling, echos from somewhere in the back of the shop. The shop is somewhat claustrophobic, with shelves filled with all sorts of books presses against the lot of you in every direction, making a single filed line the only viable way to navigate through this store. Despite how tiny the shop is, it has many many books, just short of a library in fact, and all of them seem to be neatly sorted, with genres easily visible through the use of que cards with hand illustrated pictures, such as a magnifying glass for mystery, a dragon looking suspiciously like Niv Mizzet for fantasy, and so on.
A beautiful girl, with an unnatural red shade of hair, skin that nearly more freckles then actual skin, and eyes that change colors rapidly based off the light they catch. Wait, you swore you saw them change color from blue to green without the light changing, weird, anyways, wide, playful eyes that seem to hold the room hostage and scream "pay attention to me", scan the guests before falling on Tess. She gasps, and seemingly seems happy based off the tone of said gasp paired with the pleased squeal she lets out-
"Tess?!? Oh my god, it's little baby Tess! Sister, how are you doing! I see you're still running with the Izzet dogs, unless you've finally decided to ditch these losers, and be my assistant. You know your "assets" would make you just as good as me in this business." The red headed girl seems to be much more open with her emotions then Tess, letting her radiant joy at seeing Tess show easily on her face, and her detest of Izzet to also show as she practically spits out the word.
