The church has yet to be attacked, as Father Petrovich comes towards you when you call him. "It seems you have one less, has the devil strahd claimed another victim?" he asks.
Roselina had heard Petrovich, nodding back to him. "Yes, unfortunately so. We were not prepared and ended up facing some of his vampire spawn, only managing to escape just barely. They were nesting there after Strahd tricked the coffin maker into helping him and getting the bones from here. He had bought the bones from the gardener who stole them. The coffin maker and one of our own are now dead and the vampire spawn along with the bones are still at the shop. Would you happen to know where one can obtain potions of healing and holy water?" she would quietly say back to him.
Sova silently hands over the bag of bones to Father Lucian. He then steps outside and finds a spot on the grounds behind the church and prays to Athena and Artemis for the soul of Ebur....
"I believe that traveler who came in has been seen selling such wares after some of his... less successful performances, "Rictavio the Magnificant," he calls himself, I believe. A little obnoxious if you ask me. Reminds me of the Vistani travelers that have made camp outside town recently," the priest answers. "I can also of course provide a more instant means of mending your wounds, should you need it," he adds as he takes over the bones. "It's the least I can offer for you returning this holy relic. The church is named after the person who's remains these are. St. Andral. His remains have kept us safe from the devil's influence since his death. An ultimate sacrifice that he made to provide a sanctuary from the dim world outside, even if only temporary." he reminices, as it begins to sound more like a sermon.
"Where did he go anyways? He was with us when we stopped here at the church." We were headed out of town, perhaps we should continue that way and see if we can find him." Vrak says
Roselina had heard the priest, very surprised to hear that and now annoyed at 'Rictavio'. Damn him, he knew that they would be dealing with vampires, yet he didn't even give them holy water before they left. "It looks like we'll have to go pay him a visit then." she said back to him with a nod, looking at the party. It was clear that she meant that they would need to go back and see Richard again to get those items. Then she had heard the priest talk about how he would give them instant means of healing if needed in thanks for getting the bones back and talking about St. Andral, nodding and following along. "While I do not need it, my companions would greatly appreciate the healing right now. Thank you very much. How unfortunate that he had to make such a noble sacrifice, he must have been so kind while he was alive." Roselina says back to the priest with a gentle smile, reassuring him.
Listening to the exchange, Quil turns to the priest, "Is there anything that needs to be done to ensure the bones are able to properly protect the church? Might there also be a way to further the enchantment so that more of he town could benefit from the protection, your gardener mentioned that many are left to fend for themselves as only a few can fit inside the church?" Quil looks to the priest hopefully, not liking the fact that it seems the poor of the town are left to the vampire attacks.
"Unfortunately, the church was blessed by St Andral himself, so unless you can raise these remains back to life that have been dead for three hundred years, there is no way to extend them - the remains must remain together for the protection to help." The priest says. "But the Burgomaster says all will be well."
"We should have burned the building with the vampire spawn. When it gets dark they will leave the building and attack. I'm not making good decisions right now."
OOC- clarification please. Did we return the bones?
"Of course in the rush to get out I didn't have times to torch the place. I usually carry a flask of oil just in case, perhaps we should get back to the tavern and speak to rictavio before we venture any further into this land"
The Priest thanks you once again for doing the town a service and keeping it safe, and offers you each healing to those that need it ((if anyone does)).
And then you return to the tavern, where Rictavio/Rudolph looks excited about your return. "So, did you find evidence that the Vistani are working in league with Strahd, do you have the proof?" he asks.
Roselina had heard Vrakvroth, sighing. "Don't blame yourself. We were just unprepared, but once we get the holy water, then we can go correct that. Alright?" she said back to him reassuringly. She nods and thanks the priest for healing the others, leaving with everyone to go back to the tavern. She hears Rictavio as she glares, going up to him. "No because apparently Strahd got the coffin maker to steal the bones from the church and nest some vampire spawn in his shop. We lost one of our own to the spawn and Strahd even appeared, killing the coffin maker and giving us a warning. Why did you not think to give us any holy water before we left, knowing that we're dealing with vampires?!" she quietly says to him, not happy.
"I'll have you know that though they work in league with the devil, the Vistani are still as alive as you or me, I didn't know about what happened at the church, but I am sorry to hear about your loss," Rictavio says, though the way he says it makes it hard to tell if he is showing real sympathy. "I get why you did it, but what I had you plan to do didn't involve bloodshed at all, just retrieval of information," he said. "Therefore, I didn't see a need for it at the time. Holy Water is hard to get around here these days, and you'll definitely find it useful when dealing with the devil himself. But we need to ensure that these Vistani, who were once his people, do indeed still work for Strahd. I can handle the rest," he exlplains.
Roselina glares at Rictavio as she listens to him, sighing. "You better be handling the rest. Once it gets dark, those spawn are going to come out and attack people. But fine, we'll continue on and get information on if those Vistani still work for Strahd. But you certainly owe us after this." she quietly says back to him, arms crossed before turning to the others. "Come on, let's get going." Roselina would tell the others, waiting for everyone to be ready to go again before leaving.
"I've been thinking, if vampires can't come during the day, how did Strahd get in and out of the coffin makers?" I'm not sure we're as safe as you may think during the day."
Quil looks at the rest of the party, they all seem down and dejected, and he turns to Rictavio
"Right, we will visit the Vistani and see what we can find, but we need to stock up on suplies, judging by what juts happened before we even made it out of the town! What have you got that might Aid us in this land, and don't assume that we won't encounter the evil things that lurk in this forsaken place, I've lost one of my new friends I don't intend to lose any more!"
You glares at Rictavio, waiting for hi to try and brush him off like Roselina.
((Just to let you all know that Barovia - even during the day - is rather dark - it's perpetually grey - so daytime and nighttime lighting isn't too much different, and things with sunlight sensitivity are not affected by the natural light produced here, thanks to the ever present mists.))
"Because your on his land," Rictavio replied to Quilrith. "He claims dominion over the whole of Barovia. The Vistani are his puppets," he says. "Some are unhappy about how he has changed, but others still follow blindly. The thing is, if your looking for Strahd, then you'll have my assistance. That's why I am here, after all. But first, we need to deal with his eyes. I'm not sure if the camp that is set up is of the group with Strahd or trying to stop him, but they should be alive. One thing that is definitely true is that Strahd doesn't seem to attack the Vistani, and they are the only people who can move freely through the mists," he explains.
"And I'm a storyteller, and there are many evil things in this place that I can offer nothing more than a sword for. However, should you need it, I have one vial of holy water left," Rudolph says "but it'll cost you 25 gold" he says. "As the Burgomaster here as banned the possession of holy water, it's important you tell nobody where it came from, as he feels it says you disagree with him that All will be well," he says. "And then I won't be able to help you," he sighs
"This is more information gathering, so having more people in the group may be less advantagous here," Rictavio says in response. "But if you want me to come with you to the Vistani Camp to the Southeast, then I will, but I will not be able to join you in the camp, as I have to get ready for when the evidence is found," he explains.
