Nate also doesn't notice anything different about Ophirinn - he's always seemed reserved since he joined the party so Nate doesn't seem to notice this difference. (No Insight prof.)
Leo will attempt to subtly approach Ophirinn during the downtime.
Speaking in a stilted, hushed voice, "Hey Oph... I can call you Oph, right? Uhhh. Are you feeling okay friend? You seem to have been a little 'off' since we left the Red Brand's place."
Leo, Ophirinn isn't very talkative, and seems just to want to go to bed, which isn't very surprising given how busy the day has been.
One by one, you all head off to sleep in separate rooms, too tired to do much except nod at the others and at Toblen. You all sleep well, and wake up in the morning feeling refreshed.
You all gain the benefit of a long rest, and have all reached level three.
In the morning, you all come down together, but Ophirinn pulls Omnia, Brom and Nate aside and talks to you briefly. He speaks of a strange sense that he has had for the last day or so that he is needed elsewhere, and he asks you to take care of each other and stick together, as he leaves. He promises to return if and when he is able, and to look for you in Neverwinter if he can.
You all make your goodbyes (feel free to role play if you wish), and the dragonborn heads off, taking the road north and back towards Neverwinter.
Otherwise, the day is yours. What would you like to do?
"Ophirinn - it has been a pleasure adventuring with you. I had never met a Dragonborn before you, and I will never forget our brief time together. I wish you all the best on your adventures elsewhere and hopefully our paths will cross again."
Nate thinks back for a moment on the recent adventures he's just been through and remembers some of the people who've come and gone (Quinn, Idalie, Ophirinn). He's made some great friends along the way and looks over at Omnia and Brom with a smile "I'm glad you guys are still here! We've been through a lot in a short time and I'm excited to see what is next for us."
Nate looks to Delmon and Leo next, even more happy that they've recently joined this little crusade given that Ophirinn has left: "I think I'm going to head to the shop first to get rid of this loot and then split up the totals. Did you guys want to come with me? Either way I think we need to find Sildar and the townsmaster after that to inform them about the Redbrand falling. And also about the traitor Iarno."
Leo waits respectfully for the others to say their goodbyes to Ophirinn.
"Sure Nate. I believe it is of the utmost importance to inform Sildar of developments straight away. We do not know how deep Iarno's taint run's, others may be compromised."
I believe, the innkeeper says slowly, that your friend Sildar is now with the townmaster; he mentioned that he planned to meet with him today. I hope I did the right thing, but I did inform Master Sildar that you had returned, and he seemed pleased enough. He asked me to let you know that he would be happy to meet with you, and you should interrupt him at the Townmaster's Hall if necessary.
OOC: sorry about the radio silence everyone been busy with life but I'm back I've read that we leveled up to level 3 and that Oph left us which is sad to hear. But your Tank is back and beefier than ever.
Instead of joining everyone to see Sildar Brom walked amongst the town asking around to see who was still missing if any and he also wanted to check on the family they saved. Brom felt invested in this town not only did they clear up trade routes they're also helping with the Red Brand that no doubt made more than a few enemies of the towns people so with that general loathing for the RB Brom wants to start gathering those who wish to protect their loved ones and homes and form a militia so they can protect themselves. Since Brom is a fighter and know how to weild mostly any weapon he can surely teach the basics to some people.
Nate, Toblen refuses to take your money. We can talk of that another time. You need to go and see your friend. And the Townmaster - well, this is important stuff, and you'd best get to it.
Brom, you walk through the small town, speaking to passers by. You tell them of the defeat of the Redbrands, and they are shocked, disbelieving at first. But word of the rescue of Mirna, Nilsa and Nars from the Redbrands' hideout starts to spread; the family speak to their neighbours of their ordeal, of the place where they were held prisoner, of what the Redbrands had done to others and planned to do to them. There is anger, fear, but then hope and relief as people realise that their ordeal seems to be over.
You talk to farmers, to traders, and speak of fighting, of protection and defense. You explain your idea of a militia, and some seem skeptical; they tell you to speak to the Townmaster. Others take your side, dismissing the Townmaster as a coward. People talk in groups, gathered on the village green, trying to understand what has happened and to think of the future.
Nate, Leo, Delmon and Omnia, you make your way to the Townmaster's hall. Inside, you find the halfling townmaster, Harbin Wester, in conversation with Sildar. The veteran fighter stands as you enter. I heard you were back. Toblen told me. There's been no sighting of the Redbrands this morning, none of their patrols. What happened?
Nate waves to Brom as he heads off into the town for his investigations. "See you in a little while Brom"
Nate and the others head to the townhall and Nate responds to Sildar, kind of in a bragging tone:
"That's because they're all dead. We stormed their hideout last night, and managed to defeat most of them. They were hostile immediately and also had prisoners who we rescued and returned home last night. Mirna and her kids. The Redbrands also had some goblin thugs fighting with them... bugbears actually.
And Sildar... it looks like your trusted friend Iarno seems to be on the wrong side. Take a look at this." Nate hands the letter they found to Sildar, the one with the black spider on it. "What do you make of this?"
"Also... we met this... creature, or something down in the redbrand hideout and it's still living there. I don't recommend going back in there unless you take a few solid fighters. We'd be happy to go kill it for you if need be... right guys?"
Nate hopes the party says no. He doesn't want to interact with that thing ever again. But feels it's the right thing to do.
Nate would've said to Droop once we exited the hideout "You're free to go Droop! Just remember what we did for you back in there, and don't get yourself into any more trouble!"
A goblin would probably cause a commotion in town so setting him free is for the best, Brom would have gave Droop 2 food rations though the little goblin was helpful and mistreated so the burly goliath felt bad for him. "Be safe" is all he says to the goblin.
Brom, the townsfolk seem interested in your words at first, but the mood grows steadily more negative:
What if they come back?
What if there are more of them?
The leader is still at large. If he comes back...
We don't know how to fight. How can we learn?
There are a few voices resisting, but after a time the mood has soured and people break up, returning to their homes.
Three people remain standing before you. One is Nilsa, the daughter of the family you rescued. Another looks to be a female halfling farmer, and the last is a man in his early thirties. The last two introduce themselves as Qelline and Artur respectively. Nilsa says They just need time. I don't think your plan is a bad one, it's just too soon for them after everything. But I want to learn to fight. Nars is too young, but mama can't stop me. We need to protect this town. The halfling woman, who looks to be in her mid-forties, nods in agreement.
Dead...dead? sputters the halfling. Nonsense, they are...
If these folks say they are dead, then they are dead, Sildar interjects firmly. Show me what you have.
He takes the note from Nate, and reads it. His face grows dark, his expression murderous, and you see his other hand, the one not holding the letter, close into a tight fist. However, he calmly hands the letter back to you, Nate. Thank you. I do not know the writer of this letter, but the meaning is clear. I take it you did not find any sign of Iarno in the Redbrands' hideout?
Did you say... bug... bugbears? The halfling has slumped down in his chair and looks ready to faint. Creature? What creature?
"The idea will spread this is a big endeavor i didn't expect it to kick off over night. I will teach you what i know to the best of my abilities luckily we arm you two with spears" he pointed at Nilsa and Artur "I believe you have one from when we rescued you Nilsa. Qelline you can have one of my hand axes." Brom had his spear still and he remember Nilsa and her brother both was armed with one as well during the escape. "and spears is the rather easiest weapon to learn, its a few points short of a pitchfork." He joked before asking Nilsa to get the other two spears and asked Qelline if it was possible to practice in any open fields she had.

Okay, so Nate's going straight to bed. How about everyone else?
