You don’t see any more rats, but there is a big pile of debris near the south wall that would take a while to dig through, so you’re not completely convinced that this was the only one.
Idk why, but I was thinking changelings had darkvision too.. maybe because they’re so skulky, lol. Regardless, she would have disadvantage because of the lack of lighting, so now she has light its a straight roll.

You work at the mechanism and it doesn’t seem to want to give any ground. Normally you would hear a few clicks here and there throughout the process, but you don’t hear a single sound eminent from this lock. The mechanism doesn’t seem to turn, or budge in the slightest. Infuriated and unable to defeat the lock you give up after a good ten, or fifteen minutes. But, at least you can say you gave it your all.
DM Note: Your roll was correct. It’s just a really high DC.
Well, I'll go back and start unbarring the other door, unless someone has a better idea.
Absent another idea, Alten will go back to the circular tower room and remove all the stuff Talien used to block it off. But I'm not opening it until everyone is there and ready to proceed.

Alten slices the thing in half. He takes a couple of deep breaths and looks around the room rather franticly.
Any more of those gods damned things?

My vote is to go back and try the other door if Rees can't get it open.

Arxius retrieves her arrow, cleaning it and replacing it in her quiver. She squats while she does this examining the rat.
(Is it worth taking another look around the room?)

It’s up to you, but probably not.
(I'll leave it then)
Arxius moves to Alten's side, gently touching his arm. "Calm?" she asks quietly.

Talking will go over to Rees, light a torch and hold it while she attempts to pick the lock. (Helping)
Warforged Fighter Talien
Rees already has darkvision, so I can’t grant advantage for the assist.. sorry :/Edit: Changelings do not in fact have darkvision.
(nope, Arxius has darkvision, not Rees)

Alten brings his breathing under control.
I'm fine. Just hate those beedy-eyed litttle bastards. Always have for as long as I can remember.

They should have darkvision. *shakes fist*"It's going to be a long shot, this is a complicated lock, but I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work we can go try the other door."

"Well, you certainly showed it," Arxius says with a small smirk. She removes her hand.
After waiting for Rees to try her best with the lock, "I suppose we see what's behind door number two. Who knows, we may find a key."

Always a possibility.
