"Offended? You damn dear blasted a hole in the street!" The guard searching you says as hey empties your pocket onto the ground a couple feet away from you. Not finding anything alarming he nods to the other guard.
"Well.. what have you to say for him?" He asks Grom again.
OOC - it's a cantrip, just 1d10 damage - I wouldn't think it would do any real damage
DM response: I don't think so either, but the guards are just simple veterans.. they've seen some stuff.. but it was axe and hammer crushing goblins most likely.
excuse my friends they can be rather harsh at times... they are not accustom to our culture or ways of doing things...

The guards look at you and the leader says, "You ought to instruct them in our ways if yer bringing them to this part of the city.. you should know better.. perhaps you've been amongst them to long," he says somewhat disgustedly. "Very well. Carry on.. but, you're responsible for anything or anyone they upset. Remember that."
Alten stands up and lines up behind Grom, ready to follow.
Again, master dwarves, I apologize for alarming you. I was just trying to make a small point in a humorous way. I guess inter-species humor isn't quite as advanced as I thought.

The guards simply shake their head at you and open the door. Once inside you find a well decorated entryway that leads into a lobby of sorts. An older dwarf sits at an oaken desk in the center of the hall. As you approach you notice multiple doors to the left and right of the desk. The dwarf wears a thick pair of glasses and does not look up from his writing as you enter, but says with a raspy voice, "How may I help?"

My deepest Apologies but i do not, i know the Captain is a Busy man these days, Could you just pass along a message to him. Grom pulls from his pocket a small scroll. its sealed with his family crest in Red Wax. He hands it to the older dwarf. *As the gentleman receives the scroll a few gold pieces will fall out of it into his hand aswell*
Grom will take a look around the room does he see a door or any markings on the walls as to which way the Capt might be? Perception: 17
The guards leap forward in outrage...
"Put your hands in the air right now! Down on your knees!" one scream as they both brandish their long axes at you with determined grimaces.
Alten complies

To Grom, "What is the meaning of this? Why is this outsider shooting off spells outside of the Hall?"
The second guard begins patting down Alten. Investigation: 17
Edit: @SDC not a bad roll.. are you trying to conceal anything on your person?
Alten is not trying to hide anything or be threatening. That's why he deliberately shot away from anyone and into the ground.
