“Traps? I cannot do that but I can detect magic if I spend a few minutes casting.”
Alton begins the ritual detect magic, unless someone interrupts him. Weaving his hands in complex patterns, he strums his lute softly to seek out the spell from Mystra. While he casts, he focuses on the area around them.
Soar will also do divine sense and reach out through her connection to her god to feel whether there are fiends, undead, celestials, etc within 60 feet of them.
Renaer is with you, he has just been very quiet; you sense that he has done this kind of thing before.
Dwaye doesn't see anything through the arrow slits; Deryus however hears very faint snoring coming from the other side. Deryus also notices something... off about the wall south of the circle. On investigation, he discovers a hidden passage! There is another arrow slit in the passage, and he can see through it that the snoring is coming from a sleeping goblin, probably supposed to be on watch.
All through this Erik is looking for traps; he doesn't find any.
Meanwhile Alton casts Detect Magic; he senses something magic, something familiar but also something quite alien; he can't tell what they are though. Soar also senses something, but isn't quite sure what it is.
Dwaye walks into the secret passage, and after seeing the goblin, whispers to the rest of the group ”Do you think we should break down this wall?” Pointing to the arrow slit ”There's only one goblin, we can easily take it, so we can move forward and save Floon, what do you say?” He then waits to see if anyone’s on board with that plan, then tries to smash down the wall with the slit in it if most of the party seems to agree
Alton shines his lantern toward the source of the magic and tries to spot a telltale outline. “I sense something” he whispers and peers around from his vantage point on the platform.
Something alien? What could that mean? An intriguing puzzle!
Noticing the others at the hidden arrow slit, the hin is careful to avoid shining his light directly in so as to not accidentally wake the sleeping goblin. “Beautiful!” He hops from foot to foot, forgetting for a moment they are in the sewer. He asks quietly “Can you get it open?”

Busting down the wall won't be easy, it's made of cemented stone; but if you're going to try, it would be an Athletics (Strength) check. Or you could hit the arrow slit with your warhammer I suppose.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yeah, that's what I meant by ”Break it down”, swinging the Warhammer, not just using his hands. Seeing that at least one person is on board with the idea, he smashes his Warhammer against the arrow slit, attempting to break it down.
[What do I roll? Attack? Or athletics? 14 +3 if it's an attack roll, +5 if it's an athletics roll]

Dwaye's warhammer makes a lot of noise, chips the stone of the arrow slit but doesn't make a significant hole. The sleeping goblin is now awake, scared and scrambling for its bow and arrows!
(Goblin's initiative: 4)
It's taking it some time to find it's weaponry in the mess of the guard room.

[Thank you.]
Dwaye quickly loads another bolt while quickly looking around for an entrance into the guard room. Perception: 8. He then shoots another bolt through the slit Attack: 19 Damage: 8
Alton jumps across the river of filth to the now open secret door. Stepping inside, he sees Dwaye removing his crossbow from the arrow slit. “Wow, great job” he says.
He glances through the slit before moving toward the door. “Now is this where the magic could be?” He mutters. Lining up next to the portal, he listens and waits for the others.
”Well? What are we waiting for? Every moment we spend waiting is another moment Floon is in danger” Dwaye says as he walks towards the door, which hethen proceeds to open, with his Warhammer ready to strike whatever attacks him [Readied attack]
Dwaye opens the door. He finds before him stairs downward, leading to...
In the middle of this otherwise empty room is a stone pillar carved with a small symbol: a perfect circle with ten equidistant spokes radiating outward from its circumference. In the middle of this circle is a smaller circular indentation that bears a passing resemblance to a lidless eye.
There are two small doors leading off of this chamber, as well as a more significant double door to the east.
Soar is started by the sound of warhammer on stone. "I look away for TWO SECONDS and you guys are already attacking masonry." She arrives just as the goblin gets an arrow, and nods approvingly to Dwaye. She follows them through the door and upon seeing the pillar's symbol, thinks back to the baby beholder. "Maybe the mama beholder once lived here? We should be a bit quieter." She attempts divine sense in the room, trying to sense good or evil, fiend/undead, etc.
"There's... something bad behind those double doors. Let's figure out what's here before we let it know we've arrived. Lord Never Remember, do you have any idea where Floon would be kept in a place like this?"

Send help pleaseHad the goblin had time to put on his armor he would have been okay, but he did not; he is put back to rest, this time permanently.
Aside from filth, removed small leather armor and a fresh goblin corpse, the only interesting feature of the room that you see is a door.
