Rose smiles at Gwen and puts her hammer so its resting on her shoulders as she chuckles softly. Oh I certainly haven't dear haha. Eventually when the party makes it to the door Rose looks over to Burgee and gives him a nice hard Pat on the Back saying You can open this up for us nice a quiet like can't ya?
Burgee looks the door over and nods, but rubs his back in the spot where she 'patted' as it stun like a tiny baby hand-print with the power of an adult behind it. He would look over the door for a moment, touching it ever so slightly to get a feel for where it would move.... And after a few more minutes of fidgeting with it quietly... it slips up, and off, as if it was no more than a wisp of smoke. Just before he silently sets it on the ground.
Before opening the door just as quietly.
Inside... The upper floors of this tower have collapsed to create a hollow silo at least thirty feet high, and the upper reaches of the room are lost in shadows. Dust, rubble, and broken glass cover the floor, and old worktables and bookshelves lie strewn to the south. In the middle of the room is a hulking beast that looks like a mangy bear with an owl’s head. If not for the degree of silence that had been displayed, it may have awoken and began to attack. The owlbear does however seem to be in the process of waking up.
The whole while Burgee is working the door, a tense goliath stood behind just itching to strike at the first thing beyond the door. As much as Rose may have been eager to find out what lay beyond the door before, following the spoiled fight against Grol, an unspoken ache had been growing in of his conscious. So, upon sighting what lay beyond, Paavu's tightening of his grip on his morning star, and leaning towards stepping inside to strike down the beast, bound or not though it may have been.
Seconds... Between the owlbear beginning to stir and rise of Paavu's own bloodlust, seconds would be all anyone have to put up an obstacle between the two. For short someone showing signs of trying to close the door quietly, little would keep at least the goliath from trying to bum rush the bear, and beat it into a new bear hide cloak.

Upon seeing the owlbear Rose quickly raised a hand to tell the others to hold. Having just fought one of these things recently, she wasn't in a hurry to repeat the effort. Besides a fight would draw unwanted attention. Rose quickly grabbed a meat ration from her pack and tossed it over to the creature, not all the way but about halfway between her and it. There you go little guy. I bet you're hungry being locked up in this tiny room all day aren't ya? Guys move out of the way just in case. Mean old Drow and Goblins. You know I think theres a bunch out this way, why ddon't you show them how you feel about being locked up?
Rose's love of animals may finally get her killed one day, but hopefully not today. Even though she couldn't actually talk to them, she hoped her tone and actions were enough to get the point across. Just in case she readied to jump out of the creatures way should it come at her.
Burgee halted in his tracks as the door was opened and the owlbear stirred. He looked at Paavu as the anticipation thickened around him. His eyes said "wait", but he was too tongue tied to say a word. He was relieved, ever so slightly, when Rose tossed the food to the beast and backed slowly away to let Rose try her hand with the animal. He leaned in close to Paavue, "If it comes to it, we must be swift. As little noise as possible, and even that may be a pipe dream. Let's pray the lass has the same effect on this creature as she does everyone else around her and soothes its mind so you don't have to skin it."

The owlbear woke up not long after Pavvu shifted ever so slightly, and was about to charge though whether at the group or past them was hard to tell. Suddenly the meat flies past it. it looks at it with curiosity for only a moment before devouring it. And given the size of it's maw... it only takes it a moment. Then, the owlbear looks around expectantly before seeing it's freedom in the distance.. And unless stopped by some means, would charge past or through the group as necessary, clearly not interested in the group at all. Leaving it's tower empty either way.
(Unless someone plans to intervene with it.. where to next?)
Rose would move out of it's way, an motion for the others to do the same. While disappointed the creature didn't wander off to kill some of her enemies she was mostly glad to not have caused a loud fight. Assuming no one attacks the bear, and its allowed to leave, Rose gives a bow as if this is what she planned all along before confidently waltzing into the tower and searching it for anything of use
Every instinct in Paavu's head still screamed killing the beast in passing, knowing full well how vicious and indescrimate the buggers compared to their less monstrous cousins. "Ninez." He uttered past clenched teeth as he too leaped to the side, shoving Lark to in the process if need be to make sure the goblin wasn't trampled over. Even after it went bounding off, seeing Rose waltz off to go investigate the tower, a still concerned Paavu utters a short, "Be back" before trailing after the owlbear.
(Below subject to change depending on owlbear's course)
Once confident it didn't try to break into Grol's room in its rush to find a way out, the goliath rejoins the group, eventually finding small, crumbled passage that just appeared to double back northward. So, while Rose finished up her investigation, a curious and wary Paavu made his way up through and into the intersection to the south. Where he waits with his pig sticker instead in hand, quietly awaiting for the others to catch up before peeking past the by then Southern most door.
Lark too moved out of the way, as did Burgee when it was clear the bear couldn't care less about them. Paavu trailing it noisily until he saw it run out the very place they had come in. Charging out, and nearly tripping at the sudden incline to the earth about ten feet below. But after the slight crash, continued running out until it disappeared into the forest. Hooting and hollering finally happy to be free. How long it had been locked in there was unknown, and the purpose even less known.
Back in the tower, where Rose was - As she enters, she notices that the floor is covered in feces, and smells horrible. The bones of various humanoids scattered among the detritus. Dust hung heavily in the air. All that remains of the tower’s second floor is a jagged ledge, upon which sits a battered wooden chest. The chest is hard to see from the floor, but out of the very corner of her eye, Rose would see it. Lark and Burgee choosing the better part of valor.... and staying out of it. Burgee even using his storm powers of wind manipulation to keep a gentle breeze pushing it all back into the tower and.. likely out the arrow slits and exposed roof.
Rose, ever the explorer, bears with it, and makes her way to the chest after climbing across some sturdy looking rubble. Opening it and being rewarded wit ha face full of dust in her lungs.. but within, she would see what was likely a captains supply of items tucked away within it... The chest is unlocked and contains 90 ep, 120 gp, a potion of healing, ascroll of silence, and a scroll of revivify. Two suits of padded leather armor, that seemed to be wintrized already. Unfortunately, there were no weapons to be found here.
Back with the others, Gwen, Dot, and Ja'ree, all relatively comfortable by the fire as they worked their blankets into tatters in anticipation of needing to pad it. Gundren, had finally worked up the energy to stand guard proper, while trying his best to avoid peeking at the naked female behind him. Not having much interest in Dot... Crossbow readied at the door, should anyone come in that didn't look like the party.
A wind picked up suddenly, as if a vacuum of space had been torn and was drawing all the air towards it. The center of it seemed to be within the room the prisoners had been held in just moments before. Rose seeing a milky strand leading where the air was being suctioned. Time and space were unraveling to a singularity, before, with a pop and wind noise only audible to the former prisoners and Gundren... a body is tossed against the wall. A blue man, with blue skin, and a starry robe appearing.
Rose held her nose at the stink of the room. As she peered around she couldnt help but wonder why they had been keeping the owlbear here, but that wasnt really important now. Seeing the chest however her eyes went wide with excitement. Upon opening it and seeing the contents she breathed a sigh of relief. This potion may come in useful, and we can potentially use the silence and fog cloud again...well maybe not. The other spell...well hopefully we won't need that. She would grab the coin, intent to split it once there was no immediate danger or exploration ahead of them. And finally grab the armor. Exactly what she was hoping to find, should keep the others warm and protected. As she pocketed the loot and put the armor in her pack she started to head back towards the others when she noticed the milky strand. She drew her weapon, and followed it, beconing the others to follow as she investigated the odd trail. Once seeing the oddly dressed male on the ground Rose would cautiously approach and try to gauge if then guy was still alive. Eventually poking him and asking Hello?
"Another day, Menace." Paavu stated flatly as the owlbear disappeared into the treeline. Only after concerned about the creature's somewhat noisy exit, the Goliath hurried his way back to the others. He started to at least flag Rose down en-route, only to have the halfling speed past. Curious and confused, he glances to Burgee and Lark, a question clear in his expression. Yet he waits for no response for long before following after the speedy flower.
By the time he has entered the room, Dot has draw a sword and had it leveled in the new guy's direction. It is only for Rose's sake that she kept her distance. For now. "Where from?" He asked the whole room in general, as he stepped inside for a better look with Grol's morningstar in a vice-like grip.

A gaunt man with light blue skin and long, flowing white hair, and eyes the same purple as a late evening sunset, slowly rouses from unconsciousness, groggily surveys the stony area. He is wearing a long ostentatious coat (one of the two costumes that his mother made him). The coat is designed to look like the sky at all different times of day: at the shoulders is is pale blue with fake clouds embroidered in the coat, it then fades into orange and purple, like a sunset, then at the bottom it turns dark blue, with pearls laced into the coat to make look like stars against a night sky. He suddenly jumps to his feet in a panic. "What is this? Where am I?" He tries to make sense of his strange situation. He appears to have recently taken a very light beating. You're not sure where it's from but he did just get thrown against a wall by a wormhole, so that seems like a pretty safe bet. He notices the goblin in the room and begins jumping to conclusions with the disposition of a cornered wild animal, "Of course! We must have gotten ambushed by another goblin brigade! We've been taken to Cragmaw!" He notices the Goliath holding a Morningstar and has a look of half recognition and half confusion, "Vimak? No, you're not-- Where is Vimak? Where is Bastille?" He pulls out two swords in a panic: a rapier and a shortsword. The guard of the rapier is unique in that it looks like many strips of metal forged to look like a silver tornado. He turns his head and sees Gundren, and is shocked and happy, "Gundren! Finally I've found you! If we make it out alive we can go back to Phandalin! yourcart of supplies and your body guard Sildar are both there and waiting for you!" Finally, he notices the Kenku and he gets serious and points his weapons at it. The owl told him that there was one black creature in the castle, and now he's in the castle, and there's a black creature in front of him, so they must be one in the same. "And you must be the Black Spider. Look, I don't care why you paid Klarg to ambush Gundren's cart, what you want with him, and I don't especially care why you're teamed up with the redbrands, but what I do know is that you are a spell caster, and you've teamed up with evil people to fulfill your evil plan, whatever that may be. So I'm going to assume that you're not going to let me take Gundren back to safety without a fight. Am I correct? Also, where are the redbrands? We've come to kill them or take them into custody so that phandalin may punish them as they see fit."
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Rose looks confused at the display and tightens her grip on her hammer, just in case. The way this newcomer was speaking...he was confused clearly, and it didn't sound like he was in league with the hobs or the drow. Still he could be dangerous, or maybe a odd ruse on part of the Drow. Some of his information was wrong after all or at least from as much as she remembered. Still if this was some trick by the Drow it was peculiar. Trusting Paavu would be suspicious for the both of them, Rose decided it would be best to act kind, and let the Goliath take care of looking scary.
Hold on there buddy, Burgee ain't evil neither is Lark. This ain't no ambush, well unless you're ambushing us, though if that's the case I'd say you're not off to a good start hurting yourself in a portal like that. But aye you're in Cragmaw, we just drove off a Drow and killed some hobgoblins to save Gundren here as we were asked to do. Gundren, do you remember hiring this guy? Is he one of the ones you hired before us?
In front of him the newcomer would see a stout halfling female in chainmail armor over simple dark clothing. On her back is a sheild and in her hands is a warhammer. Around her neck is a holy symbol of Selûne. She has tanned skin and dark brown hair cut shoulder length and eyes of lavender. She appears to be trying to stay focused on the newcomer while also admiring the Robe, failing to be discrete about it.
Burgee lets out a chuckle, "You're off your loaf you are mate," he says to the blue guy, "Does me look like me got eight arms? I take it, ain't no spiders whence you came?" He wrenched his hands around the carved driftwood staff and his expression firmed. "So that's me. How 'bout you give us you?" Burgee looked around at Rose, Paavu, and Lark. It had been only a few short days, but seemed so long ago they were at the inn feasting and celebrating. He'd not known them long, but had come to trust the three. He looked quickly back at the new arrival, "And make it quick, we're running low on patience. We put ourselves at great risk to help the dwarf and a wisp of smoke striding up making claim shan't sit well for much longer."
He looks over at Gundren, "Sir Dwarf, do you know this soul?"

By the time everyone had came in Gwen was barely able to hold the blanket around her otherwise naked form as she took a defensive stance, much like most everyone else within the room. Unfortunately, she currently did not have a weapon she was skilled with, nor any instruments to ply her craft with... So all she could really do in this situation, was appear threatening, and play defensively. Paavu having learned, just before heading back that where he had went was the far southern exit that led down a flight of stairs. Luckily he hadn't been noticed by any potential patrols that were outside looking for the very group that was inside the castle.
Gundren coughed several times, having caught the coronavirus been caught nearly off-guard by the sudden appearance, and not from where he had anticipated it most. The Dwarf almost entirely nude himself, covered in bruises, looked the blue-man over with a scrupulous gaze... that only doubled in doubt at the mans claims. As the others entered the room too, volleys of questions and accusations like archers in war being hurled in every direction.
lark gasped in faux surprise when he was accused. Well I never! I understand that most of my kin get.. a bad.. rap... but that's just because they never had another choice! Growing up in the wild... I hav a few cousins from my clan who might meet your specifications, but I, my friend... am a Humble Bard! Lark, the morninglory, at your service! for a goblin, his vice was eloquent, and well spoken in common, but the look of hurt at the accusation was visible.
Gundren finally chiming in after having had time to fully examine the strangely ostentatious man. No... I can't say I know who he is. Never 'afore seen him in me life... Though I recognize the robe he's wearing lookin' mighty similar to a tailor with some renown along the sword coast for making well.. clothing like the boys wearin.
But the men I hired for the job was a cowardly lookin cleric... A man with a spear, who's forgettable... and another folk whom I don't recall after me beating. But... Gundren looks closer, daring to take a step towards the auspicious man. He seems tae know me... And quite a few details about me plans up till now... for some reason. No clue who this "Vimak" or "Bastillie" character be either... Either this is the cleverest ploy that drow wench could ever come up with... or somethin else is goin' on 'ere.... He also knows o' me friend Sildar... And the redbrands, those ******** from Phandalin...
The rest of his spoutin' sounds of nonsense, or .. perhaps madness?
Gwen would look at Rose curiously, as Rose always had been a better judge of character than she was, and if Rose looked back, she would notice that Gwen herself had the faintest of glows... Perhaps she was returned to Selunes plan and their initial reunion hadn't been the time to reveal it. But, also, following Gwens eyeline... Seeing Cirrus again, the boy glowed as well of Selune's light, but of a different hue.... what that meant, she couldn't possibly know.
No matter where Cirrus looked, Vimak and Bastille seemed to be no more. The morning star however, was in fact Klargs... Gundren was definitely Gundren... What was going on?
Rose looks at Gundren as he speak but keep the blue man in her peripheral at all times. Aye he does...the Redbrands...Lark didn't you and Salazar run them out of town? Or killed them...not sure they'd be here but we haven't checked the whole castle yet. And aye he seems to know Sildar...not sure the drow would unless you told her...Rose looks over to Gwen and just now notices the faint glow of Selûne around her. She smiles in relief at that sight, amd wonders briefly if she missed it earlier. Turning her attention back to the stranger she noticed Selûnes glow on him as well. He's got the mark too? Or an odd version of it. What are you up to my Lady? Rose shrugs off the thought and relaxes a bit. Clearly he was not an enemy, in fact it seemed he would be playing a roll in events to come if the mark was any indication. Relaxing her posture and placing her hammer so its resting on her shoulder she laughs and says Well it seems our new friend here is involved in all this somehow. He knows Gundren and his friends well enough and...well I can tell he's not working with the hobs or the drow. I'm Rose, cleric in service to our Lady of Silver. And who might who be and how do know so much of our friend Gundren and events concerning him? Rose sticks out a hand in greet and smiles a big stupid looking Grin, reminiscent of when she meet Paavu and the others.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
It is hard to tell with the goliath if he was more amused, confused, or merely agitated by Cryus' waving of weaponry or wild accusations. His grip had certainly tightened once they came out, but no more than that. By his silence, it appeared more that he sought understanding. That, and the fact Dot had her own wicked looking longswords already drawn; appearing ready to throw down, despite the obvious fatigue in her expression.
Paavu grunts then commented in regards to Burgee's one point, "Paavu not think Son of Sky literal in meaning Spider." Aside from this brief insightful tidbit the goliath had returned to being silently observant. For a time.
If Cyrus does not lower his weapon and/or cast spells or attacks without approval:
If, however, Cryus failed to lower his weapon after Gundren even declared a lack of familiarity, only then did he step up to put himself more bodily between the "mad" genasi and everyone else. If that meant taking a blow or having to 'gently' push aside some folk, then he does so without any immediate retaliation.
But in the event of an assault, the once faint air of hostility turns into genuine menace as he glared down at the genasi. "Drop. Them." The words broker no argument. Even if Cyrus meant to say a few words first, the moment he tries without putting away the weapons at that point, the goliath tries to grab him by the throat, and lift him up bodily into the air.
"Drifter. Wanderer. Paavu dealt with kind before. But extreme is this one case." He states, taking off his helmet and settling under an armpit. "Paavu Moonmire, this one is. Not know a Vimak either. But Goliath name, all same. Truth in some words, at least. Save time. Time that is still of essence for us." He gives Rose, Burgee, and Lark a look on that note. "Answer little flower and friends. Your name and... last memory. Mayhaps you merely godsent?"
Before Cyrus is indeed a goliath, if only judging the sheer size of the being, as he is adorned from head to toe in armor and thick furs in one form or another. The bulk of which appears to be a chainmail adorned with intricately carved runes. A like style set of runs covered his shield as well; a crude but functional slab of metal strapped to an arm. The overall wear gives the sense of someone from the far north, or at least as far as anyone can tell based on the style. The goliath is likely far older than the one Cyrus met, if only given subtle propensity in line with that of other gentlemen when idle. Then the helmet comes off, and its all the clearer. A minute number of old scars pepper his head. But all are but scratches compared to the trail of warped flesh covering the right side of his scalp and face, loosely touching on his eye and corner of hips. Scarring that could only come from fire and burning liquid.
As for Dot, one off to the side and looking equally tense is a petite(easily no more than 5' tall) and stocky, lime green humanoid tortle. Her shell bears many ridges, and odd but slightly sharp and natural bone protrusions run up her arms at various points. She is bereft of any clothing, even the bare minimum Tortles wear more for appearance sake than need, and has a nose ring tinged with long dried blood.
Burgee looks at Paavu quizzically, and speaks in a voice more to Paavu's own nature "Then why he say spider if he no mean spider?" Burgee shakes his head and dismisses the thought. He turns back to the new arrival, falling back to his more normal sounds of the sailors he grew up with, "Seems we're all at a loss here mate for who ye may be." Burgees grips his staff and a gust of wind twirls about him making the bottom fringes of his red frock coat ripple. "Now, I don't be this Spider thing you seem to be after, and I've no proof other than the word of these folk here, but mind you lad, your manners are testing us." He looks over at Rose as she speaks and Burgee relaxes a bit as Rose lets down her guard, but not enough that he would let any harm come to her. He lightened his tongue and turned on a bit more charm as he continued, "Burgee be my name if you'd mind askin'. Spent my years upon the sea until a storm set me on a different path. And now here we be. No harm meant to you, lest you mean some around, so what say let's relax those sword hands and get to the bottom of who's who?"

The Halfling's cheerful disposition was about to calm him down, he began wondering how Gundren could have the chance to hire anyone else, but the snide comments form the Kenku got him riled up again, "Do you think I'm an idiot? Klarg explicitly told me that the Black Spider is a man, not an actual spider. I assume it's a title." He points at the Goliath, "he probably knows what I'm talking about, every Goliath I've met has had some kind of honorific." He catches sight of the woman clad in nothing but a blanket and hopelessly tries to simultaneously avert his eyes from her and also keep suspicious eyes on everyone else at the same time, to no avail. In regards to the goblin, "yes, I've met the 'goblin bards' you employ in this terrible fortress with their magical drums. Well I'll have you know my associates and I took care of two of them, and the hobgoblins they were empowering." He is wary of all types of goblins, but this one's visibly hurt feelings catches Cirrus off guard. This one didn't seem to be planning to take potshots at his nether regions as others of his kind had in the past. Gundren's confusion confused the blue man all the more, "Yes, my mother Claribelle made your wife's wedding dress! I told you this when we first met in the Broken Crown Inn!" he says with exasperation. When Rose makes the comment of Lark and Salazar running the Redbrands out of town, the blue man interjects, "What? No, they didn't run them out of town, we did! We rallied the townsfolk together and..." He spaces out for a moment, clearly lost in a memory. Until he snaps back to reality when Paavu approaches him demanding that he drop his weapons. The height, muscle, furred pelts, and the fact that he's holding that Morningstar all give him a vaguely bugbear-esque build, which chills Cirrus to his core. He immediately drops his weapons in the ground with a clatter. He then remembers that the Halfling asked for his name and he looks to her and shakily replies, "M-My name is Cirrus Fujin. I was hired by Mr. Rockseeker to escort a cart of supplies to Phandalin. On the way he was kidnapped by some goblins and we rescued his bodyguard from said goblins. We then... tracked a group of bandits that were plaguing the town, the redbrands, to this castle and I was hoping that while we were here making them pay for their heinous crimes, we might find the Black Spider, the man who hired Klarg and his minions to kidnap Gundren and bring him to Cragmaw, and I was hoping that we might be able to get him back to Phandalin and back to Sildar and Barthen's Provisions. Honestly I was unsure if you would be alive when we got here." He says the last part looking at Gundren.
"All that aside for a brief moment," he looks a bit bashful, "if the *ahem* lady is in need of clothes, I have a nice red dress in my backpack."

A pleasure to meet you Cirrus.Rose calls out. Her friendly tone is only slightly cracked when she notices the man eyes Gwen. She didn't like those eyes she decided right then. But she reminded herself jealousy was not becoming of a holy woman as she simultaneously judged the angle she would have to swing to break his Cirruses knees if it came to it.
Though I'm afraid your story doesn't make much sense. Granted, I only came in on this job recently, I have heard the tale or parts of it anyway. Gundren hired a group for the cart like you said, but he has no memory of you. The ambush occurred as you say. But according to Lark, he and Salazar cleared out the Redbrands from their hideout. Not without losing one of their own mind you. The tale as Lark tells it is a sad one yet also exciting. Showed that redbrand leader what's what. Just walked up to him and poof. Dead. As far as your black spider, I assume that is a moniker for the Drow we encountered but she was certainly no man. Rose thinks back on the encounter with the ***** drow, doubting for a second her own memory. Nope definitely not. Though, well I suppose there can always be more drow. As for drums...well I didn't hear any magic drums when we came in here....then again no one heard much of anything right? Rose nudges Burgee, a bit to hard, as she tries not the laugh at her own terrible horrible just god awful joke. Rose clears her throat and turns back to the newcomer.
Ah well...for anything about the redbrands Lark here would know best. You can also ask Salazar back in town. It's my understanding he was hired by Gundren from the start. They would know best truthfully. Right now though we have a castle full of enemies to be wary of. We may have tricked them to check the perimeter but that ruse won't last long.
Once the Genasi starts offering dresses to Gwen...HER Gwen...well...there wasnt anything written that said she couldn't be jealous and If there was she would choose to ignore it. Actually Gwen, I found this nice leather armor that's padded with nice warm furs. In this weather you want to be nice and warm. A dress won't really do that. Her last words have perhaps just a mild hint of anger directed directly at Cirrus. Which is immediately reinforced by a angry glare directed his way, her violet eyes piercing the dark surroundings to glare imaginary daggers into his.
Ja'Ree notices the second set of armor and asks Rose Is that second set for m- before he finds it tossed in his face. The Tabaxi noticing the look in Rose's eye wisely decides not to risk making Rose angry while she is within kneecapping range.
20 + 4
Occassional Dungeon Master.

The chest is unlocked and contains 90 ep, 120 gp, a potion of healing, a scroll of silence, and a scroll of revivify.

If we make it out alive we can go back to Phandalin! your cart of supplies and your body guard Sildar are both there and waiting for you!" Finally, he notices the Kenku and he gets serious and points his weapons at it.

Gundren coughed several times, having
caught the coronavirusbeen caught nearly off-guard by the sudden appearance, and not from where he had anticipated it most. The Dwarf almost entirely nude himself, covered in bruises, looked the blue-man over with a scrupulous gaze... that only doubled in doubt at the mans claims. As the others entered the room too, volleys of questions and accusations like archers in war being hurled in every direction.lark gasped in faux surprise when he was accused.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Athletics: 26.
If Cryus is cooperative ignore spoiler above:
"Drifter.

A pleasure to meet you Cirrus. Rose calls out.
