Kal has been out on point, crisscrossing between the road and the surrounding area. He frequently gets out of line of sight for a bit, but he stays within normal hearing distance.

Niche rolls her eyes at Natalia’s suggestion, “Alright, alright, I guess I’ll come down and stretch my legs a bit. If only Kal stayed a donkey a bit longer, maybe he could carry a few sacs for us.” She nimbly hops off the slow moving wagon and land on ground. “Thanks Bran but don’t bother, I see myself being pulled away by these oxens rather than keeping a hold on their reins.”
She walks alongside Natalia for the next stretch until they make camp again or something else happens.
Natalia says to Niche quietly, Ibelieve that we have a few things in common you may not realize. I have known quiet a few different people in my work, and I think that I may know of someone that might interest you. He is anodd one, but he is looking for his past. I have given him anoffer for my assistance but he has declined. I think that you may be able to help him, for you are the only other halfling I have met besides him that has been reluctant to talk about their past and family. She gives you a knowing look. Depending on how things turn out I think it would be good for you to both talk, or maybe it will just be a comfort because your kind in general tend to bond with each other and your family far more then outsiders. He is not far from here and I have plans to meet with him once we reach Phandalin. If this is something you get into and you can help him out, I will just be grateful and consider it a personal favor. I am sure that you will get along with him, odd as he is, may the Gods smile upon the both of you in this. Just know that things are not always as black and white as they seem, as I am sure you know. If you are willing to help me in this, it could be of a fair benefit to you, I want you to be sure in that. I believe that we will have to sit down one day and have a few drinks together in private and discuss a few other matters. But alas, who knows, it depends on how the winds carry us as to where we go. His name is Zandrich Osgood, and I believe he should be in Phandalin before we arrive, he is normally punctual, even though he doesn't always seem to be. Of course, he does not know I have moved our business timetable up, so I may just arrive before him and surprise him. (she chuckles at this and you have the feeling that the business that he is working on will not be completed before her move up arrival.)
(The book says thieves cant will take up 1/4 of the time, but during a pbp it is harder to describe the gestures/looks required so even though the words take up about 10 times the space to make it look like a normal conversation we will still go with the 4x from the book. Just throwing that out there.)
Kal, on the Eastern side, you notice there are more rocks and the forest begin to mesh with rocky hills, it is still fairly thick, but it is beginning to thin a fair amount. You notice nothing out of the ordinary on the trail or anywhere. You see a hawk circling above as you walk and see it swoop down near the road ahead and fly off, something in its grasp. It is about the size of a squirrel if you were to guess. On the western side you can see the slope down the hills and you can make out the sea a fair distance away, about a two to three hour travel at this pace you would imagine. The trees on the western side have been cleared in this section near the road or possibly never grew here before at all as there is no sign of stumps or ruminants that there were trees here. You can see a bird bigger than the hawk in the distance circling in the air to the east side.

The sun it seems has started to bake out the road and is not effecting the oxen near as much as earlier today. It does not appear that there will be rain that you can see for the near future. You pass a clearing that looks very firm and would be a nice place to be sure that the oxen won't get stuck on the west side of the road. There is a sign up ahead that points east with an arrow and straight up with another. As you get closer you read that it says Phandalin and Conyberry to the east on both sides of the sign, and when you stand to the north it says Leilon on the skyward arrow, and on the south side it says Neverwinter.
Assuming the signs point in the expected directions based of the map we have, then Kal returns to the wagon to provide the information about the clearing and the turnoff to Phandalin.
Just to clarify - it was one hawk that swooped down relatively close while one bigger bird is circling farther away to the east (but not over the road like the hawk was)?

It is getting close to the time you set up for camp last night, what would the party like to do? Set up camp here, go back and set up camp off the road a bit on solid rocks, investigate bird circling, something else?
Good lookin' camp site ahead. Anybody else notice the birds? Got haf a min' ta check out where tha' big bird is circlin' 'round. Anybody wan' ta come wit' me?

Bran and Kal set out through the forest taking a more direct path to the circling bird. The sun is starting to come down (It is about 5-6pm range) as you set off. You can still see the bird circling through the trees occasionally.
Please make a survival roll and perception roll with advantage for both.
(Also if anyone else does decide to join but we moved too fast, just make a post)
"Hmm I shall stay here and see to the wagon. " Varax draws his large sword and stands at attention. "There's no sense in sending the whole team ahead. Besides..." His chainmail shifts and falls into place as he gets settled in his guard post "I would not be great for sneaking around."
As the both of you move through the woods (headed southeast), the distance closes and you see and avoid a wasp nest. You make good time and stay on track to the bird you see circling above. You realize as you close the distance that the bird is a vulture. It slowly starts to lower itself until it is no longer visible and you can assume it is probably feasting on something dead ahead. You continue on and as you come over the top of a hill you see the 2 horses about 40 feet away with arrows protruding from them, the vulture is on top of one of the horses and is currently feasting on its right eye and socket and digging deeper back towards the brain. It raises its head up and as it does so, you see an arrow burst out of its back. It tries to take flight and then another arrow hits it. You both hear some guttural language about 70 feet from the other side of the horses and the road and then some laughter. You are currently covered by a few bushes and trees between you and the road. You see one goblin appear out from the other side of the road and he is walking over to the vulture. You can see a bow in its hand and a sword or scimitar on its belt as it is had to make out from this distance. He tells something back to the other goblin or goblins (as you are not sure how many there are). How do you wish to proceed?
{Are we close enough to tell if the horses are familiar? Are the horses on the road or have they been pulled off into the tree line? How far back is the wagon with the others. If we yell for them to come running, should they be able to hear us?}
Kal motions to Bran to keep low (arm out, palm downward and making a pushing down motion) and the traditional finger to lips, quiet motion.
Kal holds 1 finger up. With the other hand he, points back and forth between the two of them, then points back the way we came and makes the finger walking sign.
Then he holds 2 fingers up, points at himself, makes a big circular motion and then points at his eyes. Then he points at Bran and puts his hand up in the stop motion.
Then he makes a questioning face, shrugs his shoulders and goes back and forth between 1 and 2 fingers.

Party is about 20 minutes away through the forest. You can make out 2 black horses and no riders that lay in the middle of the road.
As you instruct Bran with your hand signs, you see the goblin drop his bow, grab his scimitar and grab the vulture that is currently in its death throws right below its head and chop 2 times, decapitating it. He places the head on a hook on his belt next to what could be 2 more objects you can't make out from this distance. He then begins to drag the vulture over into the woods on the other side. Another goblin appears that you can see as you look down the hill and grabs ahold of it and they begin to carry it together.

Aye I’ll come with, just let me park the wagon at that campsite you found. If that large birds a buzzard could be someone needs assistance.
Branagh gees on the oxen to keep them moving towards the campsite
Kal and Branagh, do you travel on the roads or cut through the hills and forest?
Warforged Fighter Talien
Branagh would suggest through the woods. He isn’t very sneaky but cover is better than being out in the open if there’s a chance of conflict
