Whispering to his companions: "Why don't we try to take a bit of a rest and then sneak off at first light. I have a feeling we may need to eventually deal with the leader at some point though."
OOC - have we met the leader? Are they in the cave with us?
"That's what we're here for, to shut down this cult. Hopefully once in for all... And okay, Let's do your plan and see what we can find during the day tomorrow. There's a good chance though that we'll have to start fighting if we end up in an 'off-limits' area..."
"I may be able to take a peak once folks are asleep. to give us a some further insight... If we think it's worth the risk, I don't mind taking it myself." he whispers to the group, keeping his eyes on a swivel watching for anyone who might be listening in.
"Then in the morning, we won't be snooping in completely blind."
As the group eats their meal and winds down from another long day, you discover a bit more about the caves. To the south of the bunk room is the second-in-command's room. The central chamber is where the loot to be sold or transported is packaged and stored. When ready, it’s carried down to the shore, loaded onto ships operated by the Cult of Talos, and taken to its final destination. Just north of this is Gadrille the Reef-Reaver's chamber - none of these people have been in, nor ever want to go in, her chambers. And to the east are the Hags.
Soon it's dark. You discover that high tide partially floods the caves - making getting around more challenging, but the constant roar of the waves covers most regular sound beyond a few feet. The quarters here are damp and cramped, but the cultists find room for you since you helped them haul the cargo AND cooked them a great meal. But they are tired and insist on going to sleep shortly after twilight - knowing they will be hard at work as soon as the sun is up tomorrow.
"Ay I'm confident with the crashing of the water muffling my snooping I can get a pretty thorough run through of the place. I'll be right back, worst case scenario you just met me on a ship and I was your navigator or some shit I'll find a way out of it so no worries "
He waits until everyone is asleep, removing any gear that might cause noise (only keeping his dancing sword in terms of weapons) , he lifts his hood over his head and secures his blade to its holster before getting on the move. He'll stick to climbing on the ceilings(Spiderman style with his slippers of spider climbing) as much as possible along with using his ring of water walking when needed. I want to get a glimpse of the following areas, but ideally as much as possible: the loot in the central room (is it a random assortment of items, are they selling weapons etc?)Second in Command's room(will enter if possible, I want to see who they are and what their potential abilities are) , and the Commander's room (Won't enter unless it feels totally safe/minimal risk) (I'll roll an initial stealth and perception/investigation rolls to start. Let me know what else I need to roll!)
Second-in command's room: You see a drow and four bandit thugs sleeping here. Occasionally the drow erupts in a coughing spasm, spitting something out on the ground before settling back into a fitful sleep. There are some crates of loot - it looks like they were going through them.
In the storage area, there are several closed crates awaiting transport. Each of the crates is marked with chalk describing the contents, like cloth, crafted goods, spices, or other trade items. One of the crates is marked with “Gold”.
You peek into Gadrille's chambers, but stop at the main entrance. In the center of this chamber is a large pool of roiling water with steam rising from it. Sleeping on the ground next to the pool is the form of a large, powerful dog. There is a cave to the north - it looks like a sleeping chamber. To the west is another cave, softly glowing with torch or lamp light but from your angle you can't make out any more. There is a passage leading east - again, you can not make out any more detail from your position.
Yeah - look at the map (link in post #3455), tell me where you're headed, and make another stealth check for the main room and getting past the beast on the ground.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Genren will weigh up his options, not ready to delve into the main chambers of the leader, he chooses to go west to the room that has a feint glow to it.

Genren moves through the main room, but the beast on the ground suddenly lifts its head and looks at the upside down intruder! It growls and stands, ready to attack! Initiative: 19
Genren realizes as soon as he throws the rations that this is no ordinary dog...it's a type of fiend! He quickly rethinks his options... (going to count the ration tossing as a bonus action =)
(Check out the map for layout and where the other rooms are - put an icon for the fiendish dog there. You are 15' away, but the thing has to go around the hot spring in the center of the room.)
Genren will shoot back out of the room the same way he came using his full movement (35ft) to find a space behind crates or boxes as he takes the Hide action, holding his breath with his hand holding onto his sword tightly as he prepares for the worst. Stealth: 23
(also would I have been able to identify what the creature is?)
Genren is pretty sure the dog is some kind of Hell Hound...especially as it enters the central cavern system sniffing the air. It catches your scent and comes face to face with you(50' move!!) before letting out a deathly howl heard throughout the caverns. (I put you in an advantageous position on the map - with an avenue of escape should you chose to run. It is pretty fast, though, and can easily outdistance you on the ground.)
"shit.... stay boy, sit, stop following me ya nasty beast." he whispers harshly before flipping backwards and sprints towards the exit as quickly as possible. He now has his sword drawn as he bobs and weaves through the passage, pulling his hood up and tying it tight to hide his bright blonde hair.
Reaction: Skirmisher to move half my movement away from the hound towards the exit without provoking attack of opportunity.
Action dash: 70ft of movement towards the exit and up the side of the cliff as far up as I can make it. then Cunning action to Hide, I'll keep my body as close up against the wall of the cliff as possible using my cloak to blend in. (Stealth if I need it?): 11 ..... damn
The rogue puts on an impressive display of speed and agility, managing to outrun the hound and get outside! Genren strains to hear over the sound of the waves and his heart pounding in his ears, and after several seconds he determines that perhaps the thing decided not to give chase after all...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Genren will wait about 15 minutes or so before climbing down not fully but just enough to be above the entrance on the far west (closest to the party). He'll peak into the entrance (perception: 27 ) looking for any signs of guards or the hound. If it's clear he will find his way back to the group. Panicked a little and rushing to his companions just in case they could have been targeted after his escape. Stealth: 27
The howl was heard by many, but without any additional sounds, many returned to their beds. Genren is able to make it back to the common area with an excuse of having to relieve himself to any who may look his way... (congrats on not getting eaten...yet! =)

"Sure, if you think you can safely pull it off, that's a really good idea."

Genren would collect himself and try to take a peak into one of the passages (whatever is furthest from the dog. Should I roll another stealth check?)
