"Hold up, Yeemik. If my friends and I are going to be able to present a credible threat to the Spider (and therefor an adequate distraction for you and your allies), we're going to need some rest. Don't worry though, you and your friend here will be well looked after."

lol - love the Nat 20 for an exhausted and wounded demon barbarian towering over the lying Git who led his friends into one trap and might be leading them to another!
"You want to rest HERE? NOW? At night? It's freezing up here with this wind! Look boss, maybe we should just part ways. Castle's not too far off in that direction (north) anyhow. You can't miss it. He can show you, even!" Yeemik gestures towards the other goblin, who is now awake but bound and not going anywhere. He does not look pleased that Yeemik would leave him.
Yeemik continues to cry about taking a rest and give the party a thousand reasons why it's a bad idea saying that they have patrols and the Spider knows everything and will come for him, etc. etc. but ultimately the party knows at this point that he'll say just about anything to get away from them. From atop this ledge, which is narrow in places but as wide as 15 feet in others the party has a solid view of the rocky cliffs they are currently crossing, many tree covered hills making up the Neverwinter Wood to the north and south, and a mostly full moon reflecting light down upon them.
The group gets well into a rest without much disturbance other than Yeemik's objections. Almost an hour after settling down anyone awake witnesses quite the sight, the silhouette of a dragon flying in from the west and to their north. The dragon comes in low and disappears behind a hill only about a mile north of the party's current position. About five minutes later it appears again and flies east, disappearing out of sight. The party is able to complete a Short Rest minutes later.
Pausing for any role play, actions, etc. before potentially continuing on. Are you going to try for the Long Rest?
Fae would have sat down on the ground with her knees hugged to her chest, and rest her head on her knees. She would have nodded off to sleep shortly after, and be unaware of the dragon flying over. She wouldn't wake until someone lets her know it was time to go.
When Zeke mentions her needing a good nights sleep she just smiles really big. "Oh, don't worry about me. I'm fine, don't worry."
When the dragon flies overhead Elra curls up and doesn't relax until it's flying away. takes time while the party is resting to pull out her tarot cards. Holding them in her hand she presses them to her lips and whispers to herself, "What's going to happen if we stay here any longer?" before laying them down to see what Oghma says.
Casting Augury as a ritual to see what the results are
Once Elra finishes casting her spell to Oghma she feels warmth wash over her and sees light in her mind's eye. All at once she hears a deep rumbling and feels it right through to her bones. The rumbling becomes a word as a deep voice slowly says "Weal" and then the rumbling fades. At the same time the vision of light Elra sees in her head becomes clearer and she sees two familiar images, although not ones she has seen while awake previously. The first is of the goblin defiled shrine to Oghma she had seen in her dreams, and the second is a dwarven hand reaching out from the darkness. This time however the darkness is washed away by at least some light and Gundren's battered and worn face is there. Soon all visions, light and rumbling are gone and the cold chill of the night air brings Elra back to her previous surroundings.
You can see the future in the cards? That's incredible. Only the most powerful druids can see into the future at all, and even that isn't very far. Nature is more concerned with the here and now, I think! What did you see?
Ethan takes a break with the others, trying to recuperate from the fight and the blind, tension-inducing-race through the dark-spider-infested forest, before it.
About half way through the rest, Ethan'sEldritch Canon again silently fades away into ash and dust, until there is no trace left of the magical construct.
After the dragon is spotted and has flown off into the distance, Ethan nods his agreement with Zeke about camping for the night.
"I don't think I could go a night of more travel, and I don't think it would be in our best interest to be trying to stay awake, while also trying to rescuing Gundren."
"Are we agreed to camp here for the night? If so, I can set the magical perimeter alarm before we bed down."
"Also, might I suggest Yeemik join his friend?"
Ethanindicates the ropes binding the other goblin.
"Wouldn't do, to have him run off without us."
Ethandoesn't look like he has any good will for either goblin at this point, mostly he just looks very tired.
If we are stopping for the night, Ethan will spend how ever long is needed, to ritually cast Alarm over and over, until a good size circle of overlapping 20ft squares surrounds the group (maybe 5-8 castings?). The Alarm's are set to make an audible noise if anything as large or larger, than a house cat, crosses into their space.
Ethan will then set out his bedroll and get some sleep.
"Well, 'future' is a subjective term. The cards just help me focus and listen to what Oghma is saying, and even then i can't see that far in, or know what exactly is going to happen. But it looks like we should be fine to spend the night here," Elra explains, picking up the cards and putting them back in her bag, "I'm not very good at it yet, but Loremaster Altervast told me that doing things like this takes time and patience..." She pulls out her journal and scribbles a few things down before tucking it back into her bag and laying out her bedroll. "I'll take second watch," she offers. "Zeke, well you need to rest at some point. Can't keep us all safe if you're half-asleep."
The party rotates through watches and endures a cold but otherwise peaceful night under the moon and atop the rocky ledge overlooking the forest, just as Oghma had foretold. The thus far unnamed goblin is quiet but Yeemik protests as much as he can and tries to escape his bonds when no one is looking but has little luck but a bit of wear on the ropes. No one on watch catches a glimpse of a dragon again for the night.
The party finishes what would constitute a Long Rest before the sun is even up in the morning due to an early bed time the previous evening. Only now can the first few rays of sun be seen creeping into the sky far to the east, the ledge and surrounding forrest still shrouded in darkness.
Before the group can set out Yeemik asks Arvel in a somewhat defeated tone "so the castle would be ours, boss?" He seems to be contemplating his options while looking at the symbol he pulled off of the dead goblin in the spider den. "I'm not sure who I trust less, you or the Spider."
OOC: Anyone have any overnight / down time activities or role play they want to get in here?
"Well, look at the evidence before you Yeemik. Back in the caves I promised you we'd let you go if you drew us a map. The Spider promised you that the spiders wouldn't harm your goblins. Which of us have lived up to our promises? Think about that while you lead us to the castle."
Elra's up and smiling. "Well, isn't this nice? My favorite time of day!" she declares, smiling broadly and clearly trying to overcompensate for how she was yesterday.
Yeemik grips the symbol from his dead comrade and kicks a flat piece of shale off the ledge with a clatter as it hits the slabs in the canyon below. He doesn't say anything more on the subject.
Elra watches Yeemik hold onto the symbol, but doesn't say anything about it. She puts a hand to her own amulet around throat and finally speaks up. "Um... does anyone know if, when you desummon and resummon your familiar, does it keep anything it had with it?"
The charlatan's familiar fades into view, still with an arrow trained on Yeemik.
"Still got that potion I gave you?"
Krikketgestures to the vial attached to his belt.
"Good."
Arvel snaps his fingers and Krikket disappears. He waits a few seconds and then snaps his fingers again and Krikket reappears. The potion vial is still attached to the sprite's belt.
Elra looks hopeful at that, but her face falls. "Maybe I'll just wait," she seems to psych herself out. "I mean, I don't know if he's done writing his letter yet and I don't want to have to send Vincent back if that's the case..."
"Hold up, Yeemik. If my friends and I are going to be able to present a credible threat to the Spider (and therefor an adequate distraction for you and your allies), we're going to need some rest. Don't worry though, you and your friend here will be well looked after."
