Edeleth returns to the wagon and his halfling friends. "I didn't find Zyman in the inn," he says. "Perhaps he's running a last-minute errand, or perhaps he is talking shop with the army's medics somewhere." It seemed unlikely that Zyman had run for the hills (or, to be geographically accurate, for the valleys) since he had been the first to declare his interest in accompanying the armed forces.
Edeleth had hoped to speak to the entire group, but this might be the last quiet time they have before moving out.
"I want to ask a favor of you," he says."None of us knows what lies ahead or what may happen to any of us. If I should not survive this adventure, there is something I need you to do for me."
He unslings the canvas pouch he always carries over his shoulder and opens it to show what look like a scattering of short twigs. "These are cuttings from the sacred Naranda tree of the kingdom of Lomalos. I was sent on a mission to find suitable places in which to plant them. They are much more precious than they appear. The High Druid who created them is quite ancient, and may not have the strength--" or the time "--to prepare more. The druid who has been chosen as his successor may not be competent to do so for centuries, if ever.
"If I fall in battle, it is absolutely imperative that these cuttings be returned to Lomalos. I believe i am safe in promising that the king himself will reward you amply for doing so."
Even if they do agree, Edeleth feels some doubt that his friends would travel hundreds of miles out of their way just to take what looks like a handful of kindling to his home kingdom. But if he is going to be risking his neck on unrelated business, he has to at least try to see that the trees survive. If they can only get home, some other Lomalos druid will have the chance to carry out the sacred trust.

He couldn’t help but be awestruck at the gathering of troops and the giant eagles, but quickly started to panic as he failed to spot any of his comrades. “Edeleth had gotten a cart, he might still be at the stables...” With that, he hurried back to the tavern, hopefully still in time to find the others.
Breathing heavily, he arrives just as Rosri speaks of his will. “Good morning, and how glad am I to find that you haven’t left yet... I really need to start adjusting my sleeping hours it seems. Sorry to keep you waiting. But Rosri, what’s that about your will?”

"Good morning Ozymandias, we were looking for you a minute ago, but couldn't find you. I'm glad you're alright. We were just discussing what to do if we were to meet our fate on this journey." He goes a little pale from the thought of it. "Also, we have decided to get dancing tattoos just like Roscoe when we get back."This he say with a smile that imply that Ozzy would have to do it as well. "Now all we have to do is find Grunda. Have you seen her? I asked her to ready Butterscotch for me some time ago.."Rosri seem a little worried that something might have happend to her. "Maybe I should go to the stable and take a look."
After greeting Ozymandias, Rosri leave for the stable. When he get there he hear loud noices inside. "You dumb beast, JUST. COOPERATE. WITH. ME. Rosri rush up to the frightened animal and try to calm her ( Animal Handling: 11 ). With some effort he manages to calm her and lead her back into he booth. “What happen Grunda? She is never this wild.”
“Don’t know. She just went wild when I approached. Been trying to calm her for 30minutes.”
"if it is at all possible, I swear to carry out your wishes," Edeleth promises. He is touched to think that Rosri has chosen the first Naranda tree Edeleth planted as a resting place. It will make a connection between them for all time. That is, if it happens. Rosri might live for a century more, if they can manage to avoid getting killed.
Zyman rushes up out of the crowd, and Edeleth reflects that the Hanging Chicken arms on the wagon at least help the companions to find each other. He decides that maybe after all, he will not turn the cover inside out or 'accidentally' pour turpentine over the painted emblems.
"It is good to see you, Zyman,"he says. "Rosri and I were just discussing contingencies, in case the worst should happen. I have no will, and hope that any surviving members of our group will feel free to avail himself or herself of any usable objects I leave behind." He repeats his request that the sacred Naranda cuttings be returned to Lomalos, should he die. He repeats Rosri's wishes, as well, as Rosri heads out to the stable.
"Do you have any instructions or last wishes, in case of death in the field?" he asks.
Roscoe has been silent so far, and Edeleth wonders whether the barbarian is considering his own future. He hopes Grunda appears soon, too. Best to get through this all at once.

Roscoe ponders life after death. It was never really something he concerned himself with as family lived on in the tribe through stories and art. Death was a natural progression and it was celebrated when someone was called back to nature. "We's don't need anything special. Just an open air burial if we's are called home. Figure that's how it'd be on a battlefield anyways. Tribe has had brothers and sisters not return after their enlightenment. We's just hope to survive long enough to get home."
”Yeah, sounds like a plan.” Rosri can’t help but get a little excited by Grundas eagerness. Together the ready Butterscotch and go back to where Rosri last saw the rest of the Knights.
As they wait for the army to move out, Edeleth casts the ritual to speak with animals, introduces all the members of the team to the mules, and points out the other Knights of the Hanging Chicken who are assembling nearby. (Perhaps Roscoe will have an Advantage on his future attempts to befriend the beasts!) He also warns the mules that there may be fighting ahead, that there may be spell-casting, and that he might transform into various frightening creatures, but that he will do his best to protect them.
That taken care of, he calls out to Team 1, "There's room on the wagon, if any of you needs a ride."
He is glad the morbid, but necessary conversation has been dealt with, and thinks about what Zyman said, that they were the closest thing he had to a family. How odd, to find a family forming around him out here.
