Saerirra looks to the now sleeping gnolls and nods to Laievis. Taking the teddy bear back and grabbing her flute once once, she gathers with the group near the entrance, looking a little nervous, she takes a deep breath to steady her nerves.
"Okay, Uther is leading, I'm at the back, are we just marching in right up to who or whatever is in there and engaging them, or does somebody have a plan?"
As Saerrira takes the bear back Peshley says, "It is the bear that transforms. It is not used to transform other things. I wonder if this was supposed to act like a guard dog for whoever owned it. Either way the owner was the one who picked the word. I don't have any way to figure it out. But...Hmm, if that person is still alive inside...maybe this can transform into something that can help us get out?"

Saerirra nods. "Yes, perhaps they could. Once we find them I will pass the bear between them. Also, I just had this thought. If after taking care of all but one of them, if you wanted to interrogate the last one, I could help with that. But if we just dispose of them, I am fine with that as well."
"Uther, you did a great job with those hyena back there. Hirangi and I," Peshley nods her head toward the familiar perched patiently on her pack, "will back you up."
Sleeping gnolls looked so peaceful.... Layevis sighed: "if they are indeed hyenas - twisted and cursed - they deserve mercy. Do not think they will awake while we are in the ruins. Let's leave them here" he almost begged. Assured no one is going to execute poor monsters here and now, he looked at the ruins. "That temple belonged to Satire. Or was erected in his honor. I wonder if he can help us inside with that strange figurine of yours, Master Cade."
"Peshley", - Laievis torned to the gnome, "do you think your Hirangi can help us to scout a bit ahead? Going completely blind might prove too risky not only for us, but for prisoners as well."

Uther looks at laievis " i can see in the dark, we will not be completely blind if we go take a look quietly" he then nods to Peshley and smiles to himself, as he thinks hes impressed Saerirra. He walks to the entrance slowly and quietly crouched. He enters the cave and takes a closer look.

Uther ventures slowly into the ruined Temple, and takes a few stepps down the staircase where the flickering light and the chanting are coming from....he hears some loud growling coming from downstairs, and another blood curling scream...as he's trying to remain stealthy, and forgetting he caught a cold this morning after bathing in the ice water pond, he accidentally sneezes very loudly, and at the bottom of the stairs, clearly hears a loud "HMMM?? "
And footsteps echoing through the temple start to make their way up the stairs, slowly...
Cade - Behind Peshley and in front of Saerirra resists the urge to do a customary blessing when someone sneezes as he doesn't want to draw any more attention than the sneeze already may have done.
Saerirra grips her flute tightly, steeling herself for battle. She whispers to the group.
"Ready yourselves everyone. They are coming. If you can keep them busy, I will try to make my way down to the prisoners after the enemies come up after us. Laievis, I ask you to accompany me down there. They are likely not sending all their forces up here at once, and the prisoners are likely going to need much medical attention. Possibly more than I can provide on my own."

"And may I ask how do you intend us to give medical attention to anyone, while being under attack from the enemies in front of us, while the rest of our group is fighting enemies behind us?"It was difficult to say whether the question is sincere or sarcastic but everyone was on edge lately.
"I'd suggest we all deal first with those who are coming up now, then proceed further"
"And Uthar, come here - let's get read of that cold of yours while we have a couple of seconds until patrol comes up"

"I had thought that Uther, Peshley, and Cade deal with those coming up now. And you and I head down and deal with whoever is left. And then take care of the prisoners."
As Laeivis rubbs some eucalyptus paste on Uther's nose, a shadow makes it way up the stairs. The shadow of a Gnoll. He seems to be alone, patrolling the area...you all have ONE ROUND before he gets all the way up the stairs to your current position...
Cade - Having already taken out his sling and readied a steel-ball bearing into it takes aim at the where he believes the head of the Gnoll will be and steadies himself ready to fire the moment the Gnolls head is visible to him.

It was a long, long, LONG (no, seriously VERY long) day. And a long evening. And judging by the events night promised to be no shorter. And after all, Laievis was still a very young elf... Words of his combat master rang loudly in his head "sure, kind words is a nice thing, but with kind words and a crossbow you can achieve much more that with kind words only".
He stepped away from Uthat, coldly asked for Meryn's blessing (Bless on himself - 2, Uthar, Peshley) and armed his crossbow aiming at the entrance.

Uther curses under his breath as his sneeze surprised even himself. He thought he was a little better. He mouths "thankyou" to Laievis then unsheathes his axe and walks to the side of the entrance hoping to catch the Gnoll off guard.
He waits until the gnoll passes him then slams the Gnoll on the back of the head with the flat side of his axe. He is not sure if the Gnolls are transformed dwarves or just possessed dwarves. Either way he tries to not kill the Gnoll if possible.

If this doesn't work:
Initiative Roll: 17
ooc: I think Cade and Saerirra inspired Uther. Does he get an advantage or an extra roll ?

Noticing only a single gnoll making his way up the stairs, Saerirra frowns in minor anger.
"Guess my plan is out the window."
She keeps to the side to allow the more physically able members of the group to ambush the lone gnoll.

(Cade inspired Uther, Saerirra inspired Laievis)
As the Gnoll reaches the top of the stairs, Uther and Laeivis both use a surprise round to spring into action, but both MISS!
Uther got a 7, so even with a +1d6 for bardic inspiration, his attack will miss.
Cade, Saerrira and Peshley may still take actions during this surprise attack, before Initiative takes effect.
The Gnoll rolled a fabulous 5 on his Initiative roll, so even Saerrira gets to go before him with an 8.
Cade and Peshley still need to roll Initiative
