OOC: Welcome back, Uther! Right on time for the good stuff.
As soon as Saerrira shouts a warning to her companions and inspires Uther, a barrage of arrows flies out of the trees, straight to the Party (your Vilain and his minions did not get their surprise attack thanks to Laievis and Cade, but got a 19 on their Initiative) Each Character has 4 arrows shot at them, and 4 arrows to each Eagle.
Since the Characters are riding Eagles and have the high ground, they benefit from half cover, temporarily getting +2 to their AC. Also, the archers are firing long range, and it is windy, so they attack at disadvantage.
Here goes...I just rolled a LOT of dice here. And luckily for you all, they HATE my guts! Note that i only recorded damage for attacks that I think MIGHT hit...remember +2 to AC for half cover.
Attacks on Laeivis: 10(miss)-5(miss)-20(hit?2damage)-12(miss?5damage)
Attacks on Laevis's Eagle: 8(miss)-14(5damage)-11(miss)-7(miss)
Attacks on Peshley: 3(miss)-9(miss)-3(miss)-8(miss)
Attacks on Peshley's Eagles: 10(miss)-19(6damage)-5(miss)-11(miss)
Attacks on Cade: 22(hit?4damage)-7(miss)-12(miss)-5(miss)
Attacks on Cade's Eagle: 9(miss)-8(miss)-15(6damage)-15(3damage)
Attacks on Saerrira: 6(miss)-11(miss)-9(miss)-7(miss)
Attacks on Saerrira's Eagle: 21(6damage)-5(miss)-7(miss)-13(2damage)
Attacks on Uther: 15(miss)-11(miss)-15(miss)-7(miss)
Attacks on Uther's Eagle: 10(miss)-6(miss)-10(miss)-3(miss)
Attacks on Gorlahk: 5(miss)-9(miss)-8-(miss)-5(miss)
Attacks on Gorlahk's Eagle: 4(miss)-15(5damage)-8(miss)-3(miss)
Gorlahk immediately fires a flare into the sky, leaving a plume of bright red smoke visible for miles around. "Good Gruumsh! There must be at least 50 of them there! Looks like we've stumbled upon a whole Ennemy platoon! Everyone back off, and climb up, NOW!"
His Eagle flies 80 feet up, bringing him at an altitude of 230 feet.
As she pulls signals to her eagle to follow Gorlahk, she looks back over her shoulder and casts Sleep on the soldiers below. She then flies as high as she can to avoid the arrows flying toward them.

Sleep (2nd level slot) - 31
Peshley is 150 feet above the Ennemy. Sleep only has a 90 foot range. Even with the 20foot area, the max range you could reach would be 110 feet, still leaving you 40 feet short...
(I added a giant eagle to my sheet to track it's damage, already marked the 8 mine took. Also, just out of curiosity, how far am I from the enemy? I don't think we ever got directly over them, and Saerirra immediately bolted back the full 80 the eagle can manage, so maybe 100ft? She maintained the 150ft height as she moved, as well.)

OOC: I feel like we are in a live version of GoT s.8 :) They are firing at moving targets on the bother of the weapon distance without disadvantage (?) and manage to hit! BBE higher a nasty squad of snipers!
But if you say GoT, then GoT it is. Still, Gorlahk's Eagle was under Sanctuary and Laievis was trying to fly out of reach for normal weapon, since his allows firing at 320 feet.
Ok, Bless 2nd lvl (4 creatures) on everyone in the group but himself. Healing Word6 on his eagle as a bonus action.

Cade - As the arrows are traveling through the air and he feels one strike him and the eagle below him twitches as it get hit with arrows. Not knowing what to do and then hearing the order to go up Cade pulls on the reigns in order to go as high as possible and out of range. When the flare is ignited it lights up the area and Cade can't believe the enemy was that close.
Arrows wizz by Uther and his eagle, luckily they are both unharmed. He notches an arrow on his crossbow and lets loose with a grunt, aiming at one of the enemies below.
Attack: 21 Damage: 8
(I rolled with adv because we are above them but I wasnt sure what's the right negative modifier for exceeding the 80 ft range for a crossbow. )
Uther then pulls the eagles reins to ascend with Gorlahk.

At the end of the combat round, a voice in draconic calls out (see the spoiler for translation!) from below, and a twanging note accompanies another deadly whistle as a second wave of arrows rises towards the heroes!
"The eagles! Bring down the eagles you fools!"
The arrows focus their fire on the mounts this time, bringing 8 shots against each of the 5 eagles! Gorlahk's eagle, being under sanctuary, dissuades 5 of his would be attackers, who divide their shots among the other mounts

Yes, all Ennemy archers ARE attacking with disadvantage. But there are a lot of them, so some shots actually hit...G.O.T 😈
And I forgot about the Sanctuary, sorry.... So Gorlahk takes all the attacks directed at his Eagle instead. He seems okay though.
Sure thing. How far are we from the enemy? At least Laievis and Saerirra both claimed to flying away in the first round. Where are we now?

OOC: AND OUR VILAIN STARTS FINALLY REVEALING HIMSELF, MUWAHAHAHA! Months of planning are finally coming to fruition. But lets put a bit of order in this battle, shall we.
COMBAT ROUND 1 RECAP:
1)Saerrira shouts her warning and inspires Uther. (Eagle movement?)
2)A volley of 50 arrows shoots out of the trees.
3)Gorlahk shoot a flare, and flies 80 feet up. Peshley and Cade fly 80 feet up, Uther shoots his crossbow down, but missing (Eagle movement?). Laeivis casts Bless, and Healing Word on his Eagle, flying 80 feet up. New altitude: 230 feet
4) A 2nd volley of 50 arrows shoots out of the trees, accompanied by loud voices in Draconic. PCs with Passive perception 15 or higher start noticing Red Dragonborn soldiers down below...
COMBAT ROUND 2
1)Saerrira needs to take her turn
2)A 3rd volley shoots out from the trees, with even more shouting in Draconic (which Saerrira would recognize as the Red Dialect...)
3)Laeivis casts Cure Wounds on his Eagle, and Healing Word on Peshley's. Cade, Peshley and Uther need to take their turn. Gorlahk shouts "FULL SPEED RETREAT, NOW! WE CAN'T TAKE MUCH MORE OF THIS!! THERE'S EVEN MORE OF THEM THAN I THOUGHT!" As a full action, he dashes upwards with his Eagle, 160 feet up. New altitude, 390 feet. Max range for longbows is 600 feet.
In the distance, tiny flapping silhouettes flock towards the PCs, as Gorlahk's distress flare is being answered. Tiny plumes of red smoke can be seen lighting up the skies all around...
