"Call it a hunch. It's not every day that a dead woman is rumored to be a green dragon," Keefe answers Zelra.
Brother Keefe pries open the lid of the sarcophagus, revealing a jumbled pile of bones. Resting among the bones are 5 tiny gems: a red ruby, a green emerald, a black opal, a white diamond, and a blue sapphire.
For Sylyra:
You note two things: There are scrape marks on the floor around the sarcophagus, and five of the carvings on the walls have a small hole in them.
For Ruik:
The stonework is exquisite. Whoever Xandria had build this crypt was a master of their craft. Looking at the floor, however, you notice that there are scrape marks on the floor around the sarcophagus.
"Is it just me or do those gems correspond to the different colours of chromatic dragons?"Zelra peeks into the sarcophagus, keeping her hands to herself, and looks around for any interesting items aside from the gems.
"Yes, that may be so. I am also concerned about these scrape marks on the floor. We are certainly not the first to be here. Though whether coming or going I cannot tell." Ruik remarks as he points the marks out to the others.
Sylyra moves around the room, inspecting five of the carvings closely. When Zelra asks her question about the gems, the elf turns to look at her and then steps over to look inside the open sarcophagus. He quickly looks at the carvings again, then leans over and collects the gems. He carries them to the first hole he observed.
If all the gems and holes are the same size, he'll then try to determine whether there's anything about the carvings that would dictate which gem goes in which hole. If he cannot perceive any indication that the gems go in specific holes, he'll attempt to insert a random gem in the hole and see if it fits. If it does, and there is no discernible pattern, he'll insert one random gem into each hole. If the gem doesn't fit, or if he thinks certain gems go in certain holes, but he has trouble discerning which goes in which, he'll then poll the group.
A cursory inspection of the inside of the sarcophagus shows that these are definitely not human bones. Many of them are clearly draconic in nature. It is also readily apparent that half of the bones that should be there are missing.
Ruik's statement draws everyone's attention to the clear scrape marks around the sarcophagus. The gems that Sylyra picks up are tiny, all the same size and shape, and are cut cleanly on the edges, in a way that makes it look like they might slide into something. Sylyra moves toward a wall, but before he is able to do anything, a scraping sound echoes throughout the crypt. The door to the crypt has closed and sealed. A hissing sound makes you aware that some kind of gas is entering the crypt. It does not smell pleasant.
Round 1 Order: Players <=====
OOC: We are now in initiative order. Anyone can act in any order, since it is obviously the players' turn, but each character gets one action in this round of posting.
Uragum nods at the assessment. "You're likely right about the gems and the scrapes and not being the first here. If that's the case, then we best look out for traps left for intruders... or followers."
"Oh shit. Don't breathe in the gas!" Zelra holds her breath and turns to Sylyra looking at the wall with the gems. Looking at the different scenes depicted, she clicks her fingers as though shes realised something and points towards a certain aspect of each scene. She points to the snow covered peaks, thunderstorm, roaring fire, venemous snake and bubbling vials before pointing at each of the gems. White diamond, blue sapphire, red ruby, green emerald and black pearl.
(Don't know if what I'm doing is considered to be an action haha)
Stupid! Seriously, how stupid can one be wandering in the suspicious crypt, knowing there can be a dragon in there (!) - and simply get inside without so much as guarding the door! As someone who grew up on heroes legends, Ola was deeply disappointed with herself. Sylyra's usual recklessness was a good reminder of all mistakes Ola managed to make in just a few moments. Very, very disappointing.
But mental self-beating could wait until situation was rectified somehow, though, Ola had no slightest idea - how exactly. Zelra's advice would be wonderful, if the group was undead, but the livings need some breathing. Ola covered her nose and mouth with handkerchief (signalling Brother Keefe do the same). If it is possible to tell by smell intensity the direction gas is coming from - Ola will try to move in the opposite corner (and take Brother Keefe with her). Should gas come from above - she will duck, if the gas is heavy and flows down - the jumpin on the sarcophagus.
At Zelra's shout, Sylyra does just that: holds his breath. Then, watching her point out the different aspects of the carvings, her holds out the gems in his open palm for others to take in order to get the task done more quickly.
I'm not sure how to break this up into actions, bonuses and movement, either. I guess my action is to stand there, palm open, encouraging others to take the gems and insert them as Zelra has indicated.
Uragum takes a deep breath of the cleaner air from his height and moves at Zelra's urging. He takes the white stone and stuffs it into the slot with the snowy mountains. With enough time, he will grab another stone and move to put that in the corresponding slot. His movements are sure and confident as his lungs are large and he is confident that he can hold his breath beyond this puzzle.
Though Arnald smells the gas getting stronger, it isn't visible, and he cannot detect its method of entering the room.
Ola grabs Brother Keefe, who begins to cough, moving him to the corner. After Zelra points out the carvings, Sylyra holds the gems out in his hand, and Uragum rushes to the carving of the snow-capped mountains, and plants the white gem into the slot in its peaks. The gem slides in easily with a click.
OOC: Be explicit with which gem you are placing in which carving. Ruik and Otger can still act in Round 1, then everyone can act again in Round 2.
Placed Gems: White Diamond: Snow-capped mountains
Remaining Gems: Red Ruby Green Emerald Black Opal Blue Sapphire

Well, Ola hoped Brother Keefe took the hint and will be wise enoufh to try to cover his mouth with any cloth he had. She, herself, joined the gemstones distribution frenzy. Ola grabbed the Blue Sapphire and put it into the Thunderstorm picture.
Arnald is growing frustrated that he can't find the source of the gas. He takes a rag from his pack and pours water from his waterskin onto and holds the rag over his nose and mouth.

Seeing what they are doing with the gems Ruik grabs one and puts it in the slot that corresponds with the color.
Arnald quickly grabs one of the gems and inserts it into the appropriate place and then starts to look for where the gas is entering.
Perception: 10
If he finds the entrance point(s) for the gas, Arnald attempts plug the holes if they're small enough to be plugged.
