As everyone took on their morning initiatives and puttered through a bit of their usual morning routine, Shae had just moved along with the motions, fading in and out of focus. With the extra time, she was simple able to complete her assessments without rushing, medical and navigational. Which was just about her pace today.
It would be as if Shae was snapped out of a trance. When the Professor would say check. She’d double check her supplies and take one last look around the area. She was ready. And when they’d set off, she’d fall into line where instructed.
With all your preparations made, you set off on Shae's plotted route, with Fang guiding the way through the treacherous swamp, keeping a lookout for sinkholes and for any nasty surprises in the water. The first leg of your journey is hard-going, with the Professor and Berrus both struggling in the high water. As the sun rises, the flies and mosquitoes leave you alone for a while, but the smell of the swamp gasses becomes increasingly noxious, until most of you start to feel your heads spin, as a result of the combination from the exhaustion, the heat, and the smell. Around midday, Bertrand, with a red-hot face and streaming with sweat, almost collapses, and only through the timely intervention of Berrus is he kept standing. Placing him on the disc as well, you advance a bit further, but the exhaustion is clear on all your faces, and finding a small patch of dry land, you're glad to rest a little in the sparing shade, and let the worst-off recover.
Now being in unfamiliar terrain, Fang spends about a half hour scouting out in different directions, looking for the easiest path ahead. Shae and Fang had both noticed the clouds coming in with a steady southwestern wind, giving you an indication of the approaching coast line. With the thick vegetation all around you though, there's little sense of progression otherwise, apart from the slowly changing surroundings when you finally reach the end of the mangrove swamp and the ground underfoot becomes solid again, apart from the occasional puddle or stream. Although most of you are tired from the day's hike, most of you notice the sudden valleys and cliffs, which are barely overgrown, all around you, and after sensing a few tremors, you figure that the volcanic activity nearby has been causing earthquakes, which have significantly shifted the loose earth and the clay ground of this stretch of the jungle.
You keep marching until late afternoon, refilling your waterskins when you get to promising-looking streams, and picking berries and other fruit that Fang can identify. With solid ground underfoot and sustenance nearby, you can all feel the energy return and the morale rising, and the latter half of your day is much less strenuous. By the time the sun sets, Shae estimates that you're about ten or fifteen miles from the coast, and that you might get there by tomorrow evening.
Is there anything you want to do before heading to sleep?

Closer to the evening (when it was clear nobody is about to assault the party right away) Maxine decided to test her morning potion. The flying was every bit as fantastic as she imagined, and more so! She did not carefully levitated barely above the ground - oh, no! - she flew straight up! It was slow, she was flying! Maxine had to restrain herself for she remembered about the timing but could not resist to loose a few precious moments for just stretching out in the sky, imagining laying on the cloud with nothing but the wast blue space above her.
That excitement was enough to wash away tiredness (really, must get used to it by now) and the sense of a constant danger for the rest of the day. She went to sleep absolutely happy.
Let's check my math: 10ft speed. Logically - per turn. 10 turns a minute - 100ft a minute, 500ft for the half of potion's duration. Would she be able to see the ocean?
During the day, the Professor worked his air magic to keep the mosquitoes at bay and his water magic to make enough ice to keep the group from overheating. After the first hour slogging through the deeper water, he has an idea. Using the ice creation feature of his Shape Water spell, he makes a sturdy ice shelf to sit on while they are going through the deeper water. One of his porters can easily tow him, and his magic causes the floating disk to follow him. He offers to do the same for anyone who is struggling with the deeper water as well.
When Maxine flies, Snively will smile at her carefree enjoyment of the freedom of flight, happy that his companion has found joy in the midst of all this drudgery.
That evening, during his journal time, he pulls out the Mirror of the Past and focuses on it, willing it to give him its own history, inviting the others to join him and watch if they so desire. After dinner and evening tea, he will set up the standard earthen berm and alarm spell defenses and prepare to sleep by the fire as is his wont.

Maxine, the feeling of flying is everything you dreamt it to be. Clearheaded as you are though, you're determined to make the most of your potion for the benefit of all, and flying straight up, you try to get a vantage point to see the coastline to confirm your heading. You can tell that the terrain is mostly sloping downwards from here, off to the horizon about 12 miles away. It looks as though the horizon in the distance is misty, as if the nearby water was reflecting the light, but you're afraid that part of that might just be projection on your part. After all, Shae did estimate you to still be at a distance of about 15 miles. Still, the feeling was great, and you touch down onto the ground thoroughly happy and relaxed.
The Professor and his assistants have meanwhile made a fire and set up the camp's defences, the Captain is starting to cook a simple meal from some of your rations, with berries and leaves you picked up along the way added in. When looking at the Mirror of the past, you're shown an alchemist, silvering a piece of glass to make the mirror. Then it shifts to the face of a haggard-looking elderly gnome holding it and looking into it. The third image you see is a room with bodies strewn about, and a young woman in warrior get up step over the bodies and picking up the mirror. She looks remarkably familiar, although you can't quite place her. The last image shows you a red-hot foundry, but instead of metal, sand is being poured into the fournace. The mirror then goes matt, before reflecting the image of the same haggard-looking elderly gnome you saw before.

A bit startled at seeing his own reflection looking so haggard, the Professor attempts to shave and wash as best he can--no sense looking too old before your time. He definitely needs to get back to civilization and start eating normal food again--he is looking positively gaunt!
Thinking back to the artwork in the cave, Snively leafs to the page in his journal where he made sketches and compares them with that young warrior woman from the mirror--could the female hero buried there be the one who found the mirror after defeating her enemies on the field of battle?

Shae would have accompanied the Professor with cooling those using Shape Water, whether he desired her assistance or not. She’d do her best to focus on keeping the wounded and their heavily armoured cooled along the whole way.
With Fang’s expertise in pointing out safe streams to refill their water and identifying berries and fruit, Shae would shadow him a little more attentively than expected. She assisted him in foraging what he suggested to be best. Only a few times during picking would her eyes fade away to other thoughts. She’d be quickly brought back when rounded up to review their haul for distribution. Should it be okay to do so, the scholar would be willing to distribute meals accordingly to make sure everyone ate. As if habitual at this point, Shae would sneak some of her portions onto Berrus’ before presenting him with his meal for the evening.
When Maxine would take to the sky, Shae’s eyes would follow her. The corner of her mouth would twitch in a smile for her friend to finally be able to experience flight on her own. She wasn’t able to share it with her, but if anything, Maxine was self sufficient and sure enough, she was able to brew her own potion to fly. Although limited, she still was able to be free. Shae would almost dig her feet into the ground as she’d witness Maxine enjoy her flight to the fullest. It warmed her heart to watch.
Eventually pulling her eyes away, Shae would take a seat in a quiet corner of the camp, sure not to set off the Professors alarm spell. As she’d pick at her meal, she stare as she would turn something over in her hand a few times. She’d swallow. The warlocks eyes would occasionally flick to the Professor staring at his magic mirror.
Shae's heart would skip hearing Berrus' voice. She had been in such a daze she hadn't heard him approach. Her eyes would dart almost in panic, but eventually they'd soften and she'd sigh. "I'd be lying to you if I said everything was alright." The warlock would slowly spin the feather in her hand. "I had another dream last night..." She always felt silly admitting it, and even more so to Berrus. At least Maxine was used to Shae's crazy premonitions.
"Company would be nice." Shae would nod a little before her cheeks would go pink. "Makes the darkness feel less lonely and consuming..." She was struggling with a lot on her mind and didn't know what to start with, if she could bring herself to say anything at all. Does it really matter? It's not like she can change things...
Shae nodded along to Berrus’ words. She believed them. Dreams can be fickle. But at what point is it actually a vision or truly a visit by another entity? Is it even a dream at that point? The warlock would stare at the feather that she’s been holding since she woke up that day. She could feel herself lean in to their protector sitting beside her for comfort.
Turning the feather over yet again, she’d run the tip of it To tickle along Berrus’ arm. “Does this feel real to you?” It was more or less a rhetorical question. But the point was to note feather was real, right?
”Each time Kam visited me in my dreams, or showed me something, it’s come to be pretty accurate, right?” Shae would think out loud to Berrus.
Fang takes the time to finish his shield (provided he was able to find what he needed to finish it). He takes offers healing to any that might be in need and volunteers for first watch. He also observes Shae and Berrus conversing by doesn’t join them in it. Though he is curious what the pair are discussing.

Maxine, unfortunately you're still a bit too far away from the ocean to be able to see it.
