Indeed! It is so. Though if the DM is fine with it, and Tony likes to flavor it as such, it can be like a chain of returning sort of deal. Just one with an extraordinary long stretch limit depending on the weapon its attached to. :D Otherwise, think of it more as a sort of expanding brace on a weapon. One with little sigils alongside it that glow whenever held, and magically marks the thrower's hand as a teleport point to return to immediately after the weapon collides or loses momentum after being thrown away.
"Within reason."They clarify. "This one will require additional research time devoted towards this modification before it can be equipped to heavier implements; such as a maul, greataxe, long bow, and so forth."Tefkae starts to return to their more vigilant stance, but hesitates for a moment more to add, "The thank you is appreciated... but unnecessary. It is only logical to increase your effectiveness, so that in part the rest of us are more likely to survive these strange conditions."
While others went about finishing breakfast, if Tefkae notices Zack staring at them, they stare right back until Captain Obaysh speaks up. "As you wish, Captain. But a moment. May I see your--"They try to mirror holding the Captain's blunderbuss of a weapon. Though if that fails, but it is within vision of them, they just go over and point to it. And if that TOO proves impossible, the pantomime sighing and saying, "Your firearm, sir." Whichever one comes about, they pull out a similar attachment as the one they offered Ankor. Only this one seems modified to rest closer to the barrel of any fire arm, expanding and shaping itself to it without off-balancing it by much. "I will require additional feedback and time to research this particular modification. But, it designed to manufacture both the ammunition, and to a limited extent, explosive compound necessary to fire any firearm without needing to reload, using both naturally occurring magic, some inherit within the wielder's weapon, along with a few other things. Consider it an... investment, so that you may perform at your upmost ability should we encounter any more Mist Beast, or worse during our stay."
(@Poke: In layman's terms, she's offering to upgrading his weapon with the Repeating Shot infusion)
Item: A simple or martial weapon with the ammunition property (requires attunement)
This magic weapon grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it when it’s used to make a ranged attack, and it ignores the loading property if it has it.
The weapon requires no ammunition; it magically produces one piece of ammunition each time you make a ranged attack with it, unless you manually load it. The ammunition produced by the weapon vanishes the instant after the it hits or misses a target.

Captain Obaysch discerningly looks at the "modification" that Tefkae is implying to append to his beloved black powder weapon. "Hmm, so you are saying that it will no longer use smoke powder? Bah, where is the fun in that?" He scoffs. "Your magic takes all the fun out of this, you know. Don't worry about me, crewman, your captain will have fresh reserves of smoke powder soon, I'm sure of it."
Zack was relieved when the captain spoke up since it meant he and Tefkae didn't stay locked in on the awkward staring match. He turns back to himself and tries to come up with some actions which might further his understanding of life.
He speaks up to the captain when he refuses the gun upgrade. "Are you sure captain? We are in a strange and unfamiliar land and even if we get our ship repaired, there's no guarantee the next place will have ammunition for your weapon. Would it not be a good idea to take every advantage we can get? Your weapon seems to be quite powerful and not needing to worry about conserving ammunition on it? Moreover, if you don't need to use the explosive powder, we might be able to use our reserves if we need it for something else."
"Out of the question." Captain Obaysch tells Zack. "Firearms are meant to use smoke powder and that's how it shall be used. We giff are noble mercenaries, not reliant on such experimental magical milarky. What if we were back on the astral, and a dreadnought there caught us in its anti-magic cone? It would become a useless piece of metal and wood. No, smoke powder is a surefire way to success, and that's the end of that discussion."
It appears (Zack can tell with his high passive insight) that the suggestion of relying on magic rather than black powder has touched a nerve with the giff captain.
Tefkae clutches the modification to their chest at the Giff's growing ire. "If that is your wish. Though I see several flaws in your logic, such as merely keeping smoke powder and ammunition on hand for such emergencies. If you should change your mind, or would prefer a less... intrusive infusion to your armor or armaments, you need only ask. There is only 'one' Captain Obaysch, as far this one is aware. Your loss at this current moment would be... unacceptable." One can almost swear there was a note of concern to the living construct's voice. But wordlessly, they return to their original position on that point, and began absently attaching the mod onto a thus far unused sidearm.
Once all have truly finished their breakfast, Tefkae wordlessly makes their way towards the door. If they however notice the others lagging behind, they turn back on them asking, "Shall we get moving? Time is of the essence." They then look towards the Inn Keeper. "In-.... Sir. Do you know of the one known as the Scholar's location? Or that of any carpenter's in town? If not, aside from the Mayor, is there any you would recommend we speak to for guidance throughout the town?"

"The scholar?" The elderly innkeeper says. "Oh... yes, the scholar. I remember, they work for The Mayor, right next door to the mayor's estate." He tells Tefkae wearily. "Very smart, the scholar. They have read all the books that our village has."
Captain Obaysch takes a napkin and wipes his mouth. "Now, I shall be away. Number One, let's go find the important things." The modron salutes and follows the large hippo man out of the room. Tefkae finds Captain Obaysch returning to see the innkeeper. "We thank you for your hospitality. Once we have procured provisions and supplies, we shall return and provide payment for your kindness." The captain then turns and leaves the inn with Eight-Bit.
The elderly man looks up. "What's that? A pain meant? No thank you, that sounds like it would hurt."
Well, it seems since the Captain is off to get supplies and the mayor and the scholar are right next to each other, I suggest we go talk with the mayor first. finish the conversation we started. Then we can go about our other tasks. The captain should be done by that point and we can all go see this huntress together." Ankor pauses to let the others answer if they oppose to the order of things he suggested.

Sailor yaps at Mr. Pepper as the winged cat begins to take flight into the mists, just about able to keep an eye on the group as they make their way into town. Seeming as the group wants to visit the scholar first, they backtrack the way they went last night towards the mayor's estate. As they are wandering through, sailor yaps again, as Tefkae notes that on a couple of roofs nearby are some cats which watch the party as they walk past, but keep to themselves.
The scholar's house appears to be modest, fitting in with the other houses nearby. On the door appears to be a wooden engraving as an unfurled scroll. There isn't any sound of life initially as the party arrive.
"Oh, there are no words on this scroll"Ankor sorta rubs the back of his head sheepishly. He knocks on the door and backs off the steps to stand with the group.

Tefkae turns away from cat watch to be more on guard. Though after a moment or two she turns to Ankor with her head canted just slightly to the side and asked, "I am confused now. Were we not to visit the mayor first to finish our meeting before consulting the scholar?"
One other thing that the group has possible noticed is that none of the doors they have seen have had traditional locks. When they were at the mayor's house there were metal stocks on either side of the door to put a bar on, so it is possible that the door is unbarred to the scholar's house.
