Ireniana nods and begins to walk forward.

@Rhayna Identify requires you to be in contact with the item throughout the casting of the spell, even if cast as a ritual, so you will have to be adjacent to the dragon door, not in the circular room. You don't need material components if you using an arcane focus (at least that's my interpretation, and I'm sticking with it).

Ritual spells take 10 minutes, and Rhayna already cast one for Detect Magic, so I assume some of the more action-oriented PCs are getting impatient - I'm looking at you Kastix! I have:
- Rhayna by the dragon door casting ritual Identify
- Kaylyn in the room with Rhayna
- Royan ready to proceed down the corridor
- Ireniana following Royan down the corridor
- Kastix following Ireniana down the corridor

Please confirm if this is your intention, or if you are doing something else. I'll wait for all to confirm before proceeding.

I'm good with that. Kastix is without a doubt an highly aggressive guy, only limited by his knowledge of his lack of durability. Also he's after a bounty and he has no idea if there's a back exit to this place that his bounty could escape through. 

OOC: I think we've invested enough effort into this door to leave it for later if needed. 

(Sorry. I wasn’t sure about ritual casting Identify. So Instead of going back to the circular room. She stays in the dragon door room, takes a deep breath, touches the door, the cast the spell.)

Royan is happy to wait.

Ireniana nods. "I can wait as well."

Kastix sighs as the party seems to pause for another 10 minutes as Rhayan cast another ritual spell. "Kastix, just thinks of the money and goblins. You can't fight all those goblins on your own." Kastix will set about pacing in the circular room.

OOC: Doesn't identify even if ritually cast requires a 100g pearl? Arcane Focus simply negate the material need if there's no price tag attached. 

OK, since Royan and Ireniana are prepared to wait, and Kastix is reluctant to explore the corridor on his own despite his impatience, I'll assume all are waiting for Rhayna.

As Rhayna sits quietly in front of the dragon door, one hand resting on the door and the other on her pendant, the rest of the party wait patiently. After a time Rhayna rises and informs the party of the information granted her from Selune: 

The door has the arcane lock spell cast on it, with the addition feature that the spell can also be temporarily suppressed with a special key.

(OOC: @Shodai_Kishi, PHB doesn't exactly say that you need the VSM when ritual casting, but I agree it is implied. Personally I think it's an expensive requirement for Identify, especially since anyone can identify a magic item just by sitting on it for an hour, so I tend to ignore it.)

(OCC: I am really sorry guys. The way I see my character is that if there is a puzzle that she thinks she can solve, she will not let it go until all options are explored.)

After learning the puzzle behind the dragon door, Rhayna steps back from the door, and rubs her chin. "Hummmm… Someone REALLY did not want that door to be opened. I apologize for the delay friends. You did not have to wait for me, but I do appreciate your patience." She fixes her glasses, turns around and look at the group. "Can someone cast Knock?"

Kaylyn waits patiently as the others try and work out how to open the door.

When Rhayna suggests someone use Knock she almost laughs out loud but is able to contain most of it.

"I surely hope that if one of us had that power they would have done so by now.  It is not within my power to do so.  Time to try the other passage I think."

I'll just post the map again, this time in hi-def.  The corridor on the top left hasn't been explored yet, and has three doors coming off it. The room on the bottom left has the dragon door on the western wall.

The marching order entering the Citadel was Royan, Ireniana, Kastix, Kaylyn, Rhayna. I'll stick with that unless told otherwise.

Just to expedite this next section ... while Rhayna was casting her ritual spell, the others had time to check out the corridor and determine that there were no perceptible traps of any kind in the corridor itself. So you can safely traverse the corridor and start kicking down doors ...

"I would not waste my talents with such a utilitarian spell if I had the power. As you have definitely this truly a dead end for us, so let's continue on and hope we can still find our quarries," Kastix stated. He will use Thaumaturgy to slam the door to the dragon door room when everyone is out. 

Defeated, Rhayna follows the other to the next door. She will go last.

At Kastix's remark, and then his slamming the door shut, Kaylyn truly does laugh out loud. 

"I see that you will waste it to shut doors though."

She composes herself.

"Let us carry on."

Royan stretches whiles he waits for Rhyana to finish her investigations. He also takes the opportunity to have a sip of water and a bite to eat. This is taking a while. I hope this doesn't happen at every locked door.

As he sees Rhyana settle in to what seems like a second spell, he decides to quietly explore the corridor. Everything seems good here. Time to go.

Royan tries to picture the floorplan in his head of what they have seen so far. If I were Sir Brafordwhere would I have gone? I am looking for petty thieves so it would not be deep into the castle unless I couldn't find them elsewhere.

Royan approaches the door on left and prepares to open it.  "This way," he says quietly to the group.

Ireniana sighs and whispers "Good grief," unsure about her new companions. She walks up to Royan and holds a sword out in the open. "Ready when you are."

The door on the left also has a stone relief-carved image, this time of a dragon-like fish swimming. However it has a door latch and lock like the other doors in the passage, which are plain. A careful check of each door reveals that the dragon-carved door is locked, while the other two are not.

"You do not have to look at me folks. I will assume it's the same thing as the last door. I am ready to go whenever you are."

With the left door locked, Royan decides to continue down the corridor to the end. "Here we go guys." He opens the door as quietly as he can and looks through.
