Swift says, to no one in particular: “I wonder what news Virran brings”. She hopes the storm will end soon and she (and whichever others wish to) can return to Tresendar. Perhaps beyond tresendar. Maybe Virran has quelled the bugbears and found the route to wave echo cave. Perhaps....
“So, Virran, it is wonderful to see you back unharmed. We were concerned for your wellbeing given what we fear remains at Trensendar.” Naivara says as Virran begins his approach. “Are we to head back to the manor? Do we stand a chance against those that remain? Should we attempt to fool those bugbears or do we need to simply eradicate them?”
The half-orc shakes the rain from his hair and clothing, leaving a watery trail in his wake. Having scanned the room and seen that most of the party around the fire, he addresses the group, flicking his head in Stig’s direction as well.
”They come - the last of the Redbrands. Maybe three bugbears, too. While I think they've moved elsewhere, that could be a ruse. The Redbrands were passing The Sleeping Giant as I came in, we have but a few moments.”
With his few words uttered, Virran starts scanning the room again for a likely place to await an attack, should it come to an inside battle. He’d rather it didn’t.
Swift retrieves her bow and some arrows, and moves towards a location she can see the main door clearly. “Are you sure they'll come here? “, she asks virran as she moves, concerned they may be moving elsewhere, hoping to ambush them when the leave the inn.
“Given bugbears prefer stealth to direct interaction, it’s likely they'll send in the red brands first to draw us out, if we are their targets. I wonder, though, if we are their targets or if they have come to free glasstaff. I think that is more likely. Perhaps, Virran, given your stealth skills, you could take a look. Better we finish them without them freeing glasstaff.”
"How many of these heartless ruffians can we expect?" Stig asked Virran.
Hefting his shield and taking a grip of his hammer, he starts making his way towards the door. "I'm tired of these schoolyard bullies terrorising this town. It's time we ended this once and for all."
Stig pauses at the door awaiting Virran's reply. Whilst he's eager to enter the fray, he hasn't given leave of his senses entirely.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Virran looks a little stunned at all the words and offers a series of abrupt grunts in response. After a moment to process, he turns to Stig and says, "Redbrands - four. If the bugbears join in... seven in total. They'll either pass this way or sneak around the back toward the Townmaster's Hall. Sildar knows. He sealed himself and a couple of others insides. But I agree. Glasstaff is likely what they've come looking for. And he'd either be here or at the Hall. I'd come here first." Looking back into the downpour outside, Virran lets his eyes adjust as he peers down the roadway (Perception check: 7) (OOC: Who know what I've done there... should be perception with advantage...).
Anticipating them, it is not too hard to see where they should like be - one red cloak stands in the doorway down the road, highlighted somewhat by the light inside the Sleeping Giant. Beyond that, it is difficult to tell. Praying for luck to avoid flashes of lightning and giving Stig a nod, Virran dashes across the road and next to the building across the road. Here, he'll monitor their movement and move as necessary (Stealth: 8).
A nervous tension floods the Inn; a feeling almost solid enough to touch. After the death of Thel, anything is likely to happen and these people know it. Subtly, many of them move to the further edges of the room as if to shy away from the main fray, but a look of anger also lights their eyes. Curiously, Qelline moves forward, hands on hips and a furious look on her face.
"I'll take no more of it. The dwarven cleric is right - it's time to deal with them and before they get the chance to find this Glasstaff fellow." The halfling cuts a firm demeanor, with a presence that holds a much greater space than her small size suggests. "Well, I'll join ye if ye need it, though I don't have more than a butter knife..." She casts a glance around the room and you immediately know her only hesitation.

"dont put yourself in undue danger. I think we should be able to surprise them especially in this weather. I'm going to try and sneak across the street so we can pincer then either as they pass or come to enter here. If you are able to come with me LSA I would appreciate this."
Virran quickly darts across the street into a close alley or alcove
OOC: Finni are you able to set up some kind of map of the inn and street outside on Roll20? This would definitely help with who's where and what we have to work with.
Swift move towards the door, following Virran. She pauses briefly to look down the street, hoping the rain will give her enough cover so as not to spoil virran's stealth. She's not quite as good at disappearing into the background, though she could be better with a bit of practice.
That’s a thought for the future.
Now she moves quickly across the street, not quite following Virran, as a feint to watchers. She walks at a slight diagonal, away from the red brand that can be seen. Once in the shelter of the walls, she keeps close to the wall and moves towards the red brand and the alley Virran has entered. She hopes she is reasonably unseeable in the downpour.
She feels a lot like she imagines a drowned rat would feel as she blinks the water from her eyes. A wide brimmed hat would be a good purchase, she thinks. If we get through this, I’ll add it to my list of things to buy.
Swift looks over at the inn door when she reaches the other side of the street. She wonders if the rest of her band will remain inside... dry but maybe trapped. She wonders if the newcomer, Candle Khan will join in the fray. He certainly seemed ready for it, the way he was quick to cast that armour spell.
Swift wonders if there will be any one to assist her and Virran if the rest stay sequestered in the inn.
Ooc... it’s been so quiet she wonders if they’re all busy protecting their rolls of dunny paper and are too busy to join in!
(OOC! Success - here's a link to the Roll 20 map. While not exactly canon to your exact location, short of making one myself, this is the closest I could accurately steal from online. https://app.roll20.net/join/5596725/4kpPbw
Shall we now see what happens with everyone? @ Wendigo - if you follow the link, I can then set the character as yours and you can move as necessary.
Seeing Virran and Swift take action Stig runs across the street to the east and stands near the corner of the opposite building, hammer in hand waiting to see if any crimson clad cretins wander past.

Time seems to hang in the balance for several moments, then the team seems to launch into action. Leaving the dry, safe surrounds of the Stonehill Inn, Stig joins Virran and is immediately soaked by the down pour. Flashes of lightning light the sky. In the ominous darkness between flashes, the figure of the Redbrand in the doorway also seems to move. While you do not believe they've noticed your presence, you still lean further into whatever shadows can be found.
The Redbrand turns and begins making his way toward the team, his fellow Redbrands also filing out of the Sleeping Giant to follow him.

Naivara moves quietly across to the derelict building across the road. She readies her bow and knocks an arrow, using her keen night vision to locate her first Target (Redbrand closest to her) ready for a surprise attack.
