A look of tormented guilt, barely concealed, wracks Cyrus' aquamarine face. He rushes to Gaerich, rapier drawn. "We need to get everyone who can't fight below deck. Now. Can you see anything??" He approaches the railing with a sense of dread, leaving a good ten feet between himself and the edge of the boat, and peers out.

((My bad for the delay. MLK weekend was out of town and had bad service then when I got back home I ran my Dungeon Crawl Classics campaign for my group. Thanks for your patience))
The great mist becomes thicker, almost chocking as it engulfs the ship. Cyrus and Gimble, with the help of Archibald and Theo manage to get Hammand and his guests below deck and then Archibald follows them down and closes the trap door behind him. Gaerich and Muldoon, who stays on the upper deck, prepare by both unsheathing their weapons. Gaerich pulls out his battleaxe and javelin while his two handaxes dangling on his belt ready for action ((correct me if wrong in the description Mark)), and Muldoon pulls out his specialized blowdart rifle and they start scanning into the mist. Theo then joins them with his scimitar out and waves it in front of his grin.
Clavorus rushes up to Captain Russell, feeling sorry for not being able to detect the mist with his druid craft, but Captain Russell puts a hand on Clavorus's shoulder and says "aye, I don't think this mist is natural. You've been doing us good this whole trip, lad. Don't let this get ya down. Now prepare for the worst." Captain Russell then joins Muldoon and Gaerich and yells "alright mates, we've been through a lot, let's make this a toast for later tonight." Matty nods at her captain and then runs up to the ballista at the bow of the ship and starts loading it. Aegis follows the trained routine and runs to the stern ballista and starts loading it. While Matty and Aegis scramble Maggie has by then joined Cyrus and Ronan as they all scan into the thick green mist on the starboard side while Gimble, Shanna, Huron, and Theo give lookout to the port side.
A silence hangs over everyone. The ship just floats on top of what looks like a green mist, yet water laps its hull. Only the sound of the sails slackening and the ropes relaxing can be heard.
And then Cyrus pats Ronan and Maggie on the shoulder and points at something in the mist only 80 feet away. Ronan squints his eyes and looks back at Cyrus and then rest of the crew and screams, "pirate ship!"
A long warship, floating only a few inches above the water, glowing in a neon green light, emerges out of the mist and comes toward the ship in a position to sidle up against it. The shapes of three figures stand at its starboard as it gets closer.
The muffled sound of Ronan's scream reaches everyone on the ship.
((go ahead and each do an action and feel free to ask questions to help you situate the scene more))
((And Maggie they were offering to hire you after this trip to work for them as a private musician))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((No worries at all! I was similarly out of the way. This was an awesome thing to come back to :) ))
Cyrus grits his teeth as he comes back up from below deck and sees the glowing ship emerge out of the mist. He pats Ronan on the shoulder. "Not the reception I was hoping for...no time to parley I suppose." Redrawing his rapier he scans the opposing ship's deck. A guttural primordial chant escapes the half-elf's lips as his offhand glows an eldritch blue, and he targets a blast of deep blue energy, wobbling and undulating, towards the middle of the three figures. Perhaps it's a coincidental lapse in the noise of battle preparations, but Cyrus' eldritch blast careens through the green mist with an eerie silence.

Maggie spots the pirate ship being pointed at. “Ooh, fun. Pirates.” She says with a bit of a hiss at the end of pirates. She moves her lute to her tail and draws her weapons.
Clavorus would rush to the aid of his friends on the deck, getting to the midst of them where Gaerich and the rest are. Drawing his handaxe with his right hand, he would grab a sprig of spruce that is coated in the ashes of a mistletoe leaf from his component pouch. He would then go through the actions and whispers, casting Pass Without Trace on himself and whoever of his friends and crewmates that is within a 30 foot radius. "This should help a bit" he says quietly...

Maggie smiles, showing some of her fang-like teeth. “Who says pirates can’t be freaked out?” She uses Thaumaturgy to create a rumbling sound 30ft away from The Persistent in the direction of the pirate ship.
The eerie heaviness of the green fog engulfs The Persistent and those who sail her. Muffled screams can be heard as everyone rushes into position after Cyrus and Ronan yelled out the warning of a pirate ship. Hovering several feet above the white caps of the green-tinted water is a decrepit long-ship, the hull marked with gaping holes from long ago battles and ravished by time, the sails ripped into shreds that look like dead skin fluttering in the air, and green moss and thick cobwebs hang from the ropes and rafters.
Captain Russell yells orders to keep ready at his crew, but the Captain's yelling is cut short when Cryus unleashes his eldritch blast at the ghost ship as it sidles closer to The Persistent. The eldritch blast creates a neon glow as it cuts through the green mist and hits one of the three shadowy figures in the chest. Green and blue flames burst from its chest and a muffled cry can be heard as the figure loses its grip and falls over the rail and into the waters below. The other two figures close rank and together open their mouths and a shriek like nails on a blackboard breaks through the muffled green mist, piercing the ears of everyone.
Two more figures emerge at the ghost ship's rails as the ghost ship becomes perpendicular to The Persistent with only 15 feet of water between them.
((What kind of offer are they making to Maggie?))

Gimble takes Cyrus’s warning seriously and starts to order and usher those that cannot fight below deck.
Gimble hears Cyrus’s comment to Maggie and gets excited and starts to keep an eye on the water as she ushers people below.
Maggie giggles at the sound of the adventure.
