"We don't need to rest here... Let's just take the caravan and head back to town. We'll still get there today." Valentia says, still holding her arm, which was still hurting thanks to her being trampled by the mount earlier. There, she made a weak attempt at casting Cure Wounds on herself, which failed due to her lacking the energy to do it. "Well, maybe not. We can rest here if everyone's fine with it. I may not be able to see in the dark, but I have good ears, so I might be able to keep watch after Gark."
"Heard it about an hour ago, coming from the same direction you were searching. Can't imagine anything living making that sort of noise." The guard asks. He then picks up a rock and throws it at where the new and old tracks meet. The rock lands on the other side with a thud. "I'll be damned... You did it! What did you find over there...? Must've been important for whatever you killed."
After the group decides to rest for the night "As much as I would like to get going, I'll have to agree... Even a full day with no progress despite traveling wears on you."
Lia secreted away the mysterious object for further study on their approach. She finds a spot just across the treeline to investigate it without interruption. (after resolving this, we'll assume she's back with the rest of the group?)
Lia's findings:
As you handle it, a slight chill runs up her spine. The feel and condition of the material seems reminiscent of an egg shell. (Roll Nature)
Andivus makes sure the area is safe prior to everyone settling in for the night and sees no unusual activity.
Gark volunteers for the first watch and Valentia for the second.
Gark takes the first watch.

You have seen quite a few examples of something like this circulating on the black market. It's a piece of a dragon egg shell. A very, very old one, as the color has faded some time ago. Regardless, due to the chill you felt and the shape of the scale-like bumps on the outside surface, you are confident what hatched from this egg was a white dragon.
Lia stuffs the egg shell back into her pack and rejoins the others. she remains quiet about her findings until she can get each of the group alone, then fills them in on what she found out about it.

Valentia responds to the guard's question as soon as it's asked. "We found a ritual and a horrifying creature. The creature was apparently trying to stop the ritual which would consume the entire forest and whatever was inside of it. We didn't notice we were on the same side as it, whatever it was, but we stopped the ritual and then it disappeared. I'm not sure we killed the creature, it just teleported away as far as I can tell." She moves closer to the caravan, finding a place to sit down where she'd later take her rest, knowing she'd only have to take watch after Gark was done.

The guard goes wide-eyed, "I... don't know what to make of that. It'd make more sense if whatever you saw was protecting that ritual. But if such a thing scared a fiend like that enough to dispose of it..." He shudders.
"And if it is still alive... It, or others like it, might be paying attention to you lot, now."
Many powers are at work in the worlds at all times. Seems simple enough to think that there’s going to be something keeping an eye on us at any time.” Andivo says, not unsettled by the remark
"I think he's got a fair point." She points at Andivo. "We'll keep an eye out on the enemies we can see, and if we can't see them but they're just here to look at us, then it's a lot easier to ignore them. I mean, that particular creature would probably have a good opinion of us, if anything, we made its job easier... In a way... We still tried to kill it, though." Valentia explains, her right hand grasping her left arm again. "Anyways, I'm done for the night. Until tomorrow." And she enters the caravan to find a place to sleep.

Valentia being the one in charge of the last watch was already awake and would probably be able to watch the guard waking everyone up. But as he passes, she gets up, packs her stuff and follows the party into the caravan, trying to keep a bit of a watch herself.
The day passes as the caravan finally starts making progress on the way back to Kohmstead. With most of the party in and around the carriages in some capacity, and Gark keeping to the forest, but keeping pace.
Lia and Valentia keep watch ahead and behind the caravan, respectively. Although, Valentia is feeling the early morning she had.
The sun is high in the sky and Lia starts hearing something like whispering coming from the brush on both sides of the road followed by the sounds of far-off cracking wood. She also sees two large trees near the road start swaying around 200 feet ahead.
Oswin will probably be towards the middle of the caravan, hearing Lia yell, he’ll try and get up towards her, “Hold the wagons, keep watch on the flanks!”
