"Just be ready." Lia says, unable to take the chance someone is inside with the kobold thing. She steps up to the door and, making sure her group is ready, opens it fast, stepping aside of the opening as she does so.
"Why are you opening that door? We just escaped out of there!" Gark exclaims, shocked at what these folks are willing to risk for 10 gold. He steps away from the door and readies his last javelin.
Lia, not trusting what she is hearing, goes to open the door, causing a momentary panic in Gark. Valentia is quick to stop her so she could finish her assessment.
Valentia opens her senses more to try and determine the veracity of the crying.
Valentia's findings:
She doesn't detect any sort of magic, but there is someone just beyond the door. Someone smaller than what was pursuing them.
Before Valentia could get any more information, Lia grabs the door and swings it open, almost knocking Valentia over.
On the other side...
A kobold, at the size of one normally would be. Curled up, with an arrow sticking out of its chest, in robes FAR too large for it, and clutching something, absolutely despondent. It's blubbering nearly incoherent, but you can hear, "Korvak worthy... Korvak not fail..." repeated every once in a while.
"Oof, not a pretty sight... The 'ell ya do to it?!" Ragkohm says as he walks over to it and taps it with his boot. It hardly reacts to him, if at all.
"Huh? Isn't this one of the wizard's puppets, as he called them?" Valentia just assumes looking at yet another kobold staying around. She then turns to Lia. "And I thought you told me we need to be more careful..." She continues, and then, from afar, looks at the kobold's face trying to determine if it looked like the other puppets since all of them had the same face the last time they saw them.
Valentia tries to find any resemblance that this kobold has to the puppets that it was controlling. As far as she's aware, they look the same.
Lia and Nephina compare one of Nephina's arrows to the one stuck in the kobold. Other than very minor differences in the piece of wood and the fletching (and the fact the head is in the kobold), they are certain that it is the two arrows are the same kind that Nephina managed to hit the big kobold with. It is even in the same location where she landed the hit!
"Aye, I haveta agree with ya. Rest of yer pay back in my office." Ragkohm replies to Gark, then turns to the rest of the party, "When you lot are done over there, take it down with ya. Bind him up, too. Don't know what it'll do in that sorry state."
"I am worried this guy was the one that chased us, just transformed somehow." Lia informs the dwarf as she finishes comparing the arrows. "If I had to guess, I'd say he was working as some sort of avatar or something, of this being they worship." She shakes her head, but has heard of stranger things in her time sitting around her mother's tavern. "It sounds weird, but it is still the most logical explanation." She helps to tie up the sorry kobold, then follows the dwarf back to his office to get the rest of her pay.
"Is it holding something?" Valentia finally looks at its hand and is perceptive that no one inspected it hand despite it being visible that he was clutching something. She doesn't seem to hear what Lia said just yet, as she focuses on getting it out of his hand. Then, she turns to Lia. "That's, huh, a lot of things you just came up with out of nowhere. At the same time, it almost starts to make sense if we think about what it told us earlier..."
With Gark training his javelin to the kobold, it is tied up. Moods were tense and sense were on alert, but nothing unusual happened in the process.
While kobold was being bound, wondering what the kobold is clutching, Valentia pulls its arm away from its chest after a bit of effort and is able to take a look at it. The kobold eventually just gives up and drops what it was holding so tight. An amulet:
It looks like something used to be in the center but is no longer there.
The trek back to the office is largely uneventful. But as you reach the small building, you see some of the town guard coming from the other side.
One of the guard, a tall, armored man with red highlights flags down the group, "Folks saw some strange light up at the mine... Everything alright, Ragkohm?"
"Ah, Sargeant Forscal! Just in time for everything to be already resolved!" Ragkohm says back with a laugh.
"But, in seriousness, looks like some kobolds were screwin' with the mine." He gestures to bound kobold, "Wish I could say it was luck we caught this one, but fella looks like its whole world has been shattered."
"And the rest here...?" Forscal motions to the party.
"Well, since you couldn't be arsed to look in the mine, they jumped at the chance. Admittedly, I didnae think anyone would try, let alone get this sort of result."
"How 'bout you take this one of our hands, we've go some business to attend to." He puts the kobold in front of the group. "My office ain't exactly a gaol."
"Thank you, Ragkohm." He takes the kobold.
"And lots of thanks to the rest of you." He scans the group, as if he trying to commit everyone's faces to memory.
Valentia picks the amulet, examines it, and pockets it, looking to investigate more about it later.
When the group stops for the town guards who appeared, Valentia remains mostly quiet, letting Ragkohm do the talking. When his thanks are directed to the party, she waits a little before responding. "You're welcome. I'm glad we could help the town while making simple hired work."
After handing the kobold to the guards, which make their way back to town, Ragkohm leads them back in to the office.
"Right, then... I gave ya half to start off with... Let me give ya the other half." Ragkohm grabs the pouch from on top of his desk. Whether it is out of confidence or calessness is anyone's guess. He then pulls out some coins, again making four stacks of five gold each. "I think that squares us off. Thanks fer helpin' and old dwarf out."
"I still have some stuff to do here, so I won't keep ya. I'll see ya 'round town!"
Gark says to the dwarf “Thanks.” as he receives the rest of the payment.
“let me know if you need help with anything else before I head back into the forest.”
if the door to the mine is still open, Gark will head down to see if he can recover some of his javelins. if the door is closed he will go try to buy 3
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Following Gark, Valentia picks her share of the remaining payment and nods in response to the dwarf. "I plan on leaving on a few days, so, the same as him, if you have another job, I'm willing to join this group again if need be."
After leaving Ragkohm's house, she'll examine the amulet she found in the kobold's hand with further detail alone on her way back to the tavern.
Intelligence Check: 5 (I didn't know what specific skill to use. If religion or arcana: +2; otherwise, it's just the straight roll.)

Lia would pretty much ignore Valentia, opening the door and stepping out of the opening so not to be a target.
