Penny is going to be scanning ahead of her for danger. Perception: 14

With the cat distracted for a moment, and determining that the second cat must’ve been some sort of instinctual illusion, your team builds on the lead!

It will still be a while before you reach the bottom of the ravine. However, Deshi takes the time to scribble notes, “Fascinating... Look over there,” They point to a series of rocks, or structures, of some sort toward the other side of the ravine, “I have never seen rock formations like that!”

Meanwhile, the massive macaws fly over head... and immediately swoop and carry off a Doberman-sized lizard into the misty distance. In fact, now that you think on it, there is indeed a very rainforest-like haze that carries in the sky. The humidity is... less than pleasant. In fact, I’ll need a Constitution save from everyone as the journey carries on.

Penny tries to fight off the debilitating effects of the jungle sauna with a Con Save: 20

Ormond breathes heavily as he jogs along the rest of the party...

Roland, in hybrid form, starts sweating as the party trudges through the damp warm underbrush. The sweat has a strange pinkish orange color and looks kind of oily. "Natural moisturizer." He says, wiping some of it off of his brow. 

Con save: 9

Unfortunately, with all of the heavy armor on Ormond, the sweltering heat is proving exhausting. He takes 1 level of exhaustion. Frankly, with all the armor you guys are wearing (except Deshi), this humidity is going to take a toll eventually. However, you estimate that with less armor, you could avoid this.

Ormond complains about the heat, "...but I'd be damned if one of those beasts catch me out of my armor." He trudges along, tired.

 Correct. The armor that you guys are wearing is not equipped for the brush and level of humidity.

Roland scuffs at Ormond. "You know what? If it helps me get any cooler and we're staying here for a while, I'll take off my armor. Comfort over safety, any day.. I'll wait until we stop later though, don't want to stop in case murder kitty back there comes a'sniffing."

Deshi walks on, unperturbed! 

He has since recalled himself to his senses. Osskill is perched on his back swaying with each step.

Penny is not comfortable enough in this land of the lost to take her armor off, yet.

The group, some electing to shed their armor, continues further along the side of the mountainous jungle path. It is difficult to estimate how long you have been here, as there is no sun to estimate the time of day with. That being said, the crystals embedded in the ceiling seem to twinkle with a kind of pseudo-daylight. Perhaps there may be a method to determine the time of day even while underground... 

That being said, you are able to reach the base of the canyon with few other issues. However, the jungle is even thicker at this point. The mist at the base is even thicker as the heat collects. Meanwhile, if you continue, you will likely need to make another check to resist its effects. However, if you do so, you may just be able to reach that smoke signal that you saw in time. However, a quick rest never hurt anyone either...

“Can we stop for a bit?” Penny complains. “No sense getting there and being too tired to deal with whatever we find.” She slides to the soft, wet ground.

Deshi nods. "A rest would be most welcome. Excellent reasoning, Penelope." 

The tortle walks alongside a particularly large fern, his claws trailing through the dew-speckled fronds. "Deshi cannot believe the vibrancy of the flora and fauna here. I always pictured the world below as a simple network of caves and lifeless ruins. Certainly there would be treasures and history, but that life has continued and flourished... It's simply..." They stop, words failing them. 

Penny flashes Deshi a glare at the use of "Penelope" but lets it go. It's too hot and dank to work up a good snit.

Ormond whispers with a chuckle, "Penelope?"

While the party is resting, Ormond doffs his armor for about fifteen or so minutes to stretch and cool down before putting it back on.

“I’ll have you know, that’s not what Penny stands for,” she pouts from her seat on the ground. “Why is everything wet and steamy here,” she says, relocating to a rock.

After putting his armor back on, feeling its weight and heat, Ormond sighs and says, "Shall we push on?" 

However, in the time that you all have been resting, you notice... a rustling in the brush. It’s very brief, like a twig snapping, then it freezes.
