If Ormond can find a rock, he'll prepare his shield and weapon and then throw a rock at the rustling bushes.

Roland takes off his armor as the party stops and puts it in his backpack. Topless, with pants, he picks up his glaive and casually walks toward the bushes while Ormond is throwing the rock. 

Rolands upper body is clean shaved and scarred badly. He also has several tattoos. On his back there is the image of  a massive hippos head in front of black clouds, underneath it two lightning bolts cross eachother, giving the image an odd crossbones vibe. No tattoos on the chest or stomach though, only scars, many scars.

 As Ormond throws the rock, there’s the faintest hint of instinctual hesitation. He aims the rock slightly to the side of his original aim. There’s a solid thud into the ground as the rock collides with the jungle floor, which is immediately followed by a child-like scream as a young boy tumbles out of the bush. He shakes his head to collect himself, at which point he sees all of you and freezes.

The young boy has very short cut hair, some sort of paint in a pattern on his forehead and cheeks, what looks to be some homemade accessories of wood and stone, and is likely no older than maybe 9.

Roland takes two swift steps forward and grabs the boy by the ear, not pulling, just discouraging the thought of running (Grapple check:  9). 

"Look at this rugrat. Hey, kid, you spying on us?"

Deshi lights up. Their time at the University was primarily devoted to the education of young ones. Noting the paint decorating the boy, they shoo Roland away and take a small step forward, holding their hands up. "It's all right, little one. We mean no harm. Can you... understand us? Look!" They turn and gesture to their decorated shell. "We are just the same!"

Roland puts a hand on the boys shoulder instead of the ear when Deshi comes over "You run, I squeeze, kid." 

Penny just sort of sighs from her spot sitting on a rock.

The boy very clearly does not understand a word of what any of you have said. He looks frightened, but is trying to put on a brave face. There are still some tears though. He makes a very convincing “raaaaagh” face. Unfortunately, he is very small.

Ormond waves at the boy to grab his attention, and then solemnly presents his wrists outward, bowing them towards the boy. He keeps calm and uses slow movements as he does this.  He tells the rest of the group at large, "Relax - he's just a boy. Be nice because his family will remember to return to us anything that befalls the boy - but much worse."

Roland nudges the boy towards Ormond. "You're the babysitter then."

Deshi's brow furrows. "As to that, we do not own this child. Deshi suspects that he is more than capable of taking care of himself, but just in case..." The tortle slowly points to themself and their companions in turn. "Deshi. Penny. Ormond. Roland." Deshi then points to the boy with a kind, expectant look.

EDIT: If the child responds or offers his name, Deshi will follow up by scratching two large and one small stick figure (with facial markings) in the dirt. "Your parents, (boy's name)? Are they near?"

Penny sticks her tongue out at the kid from behind everyone's back, then smiles to show no harm meant. (There's universal language, and then there's universal language!)

The boy seems confused by everything that’s happening, but markedly less concerned. Now he’s just... trying to follow what is happening. He’s still wary of you all. However, he (4), manages to understand Deshi’s pantomiming. He points to Deshi, “Pei De-shi, Kamtu.” Then the rest, “Pei... Pe...nee, Orr...mon?” He thinks long and hard for a second, “Rionta okaa?” He makes a big frown, and pats Ormond’s leg.

However, as Roland turns away from the boy, the boy catches a glimpse of his back. His eyes go wide and he gets really excited. He starts jumping up and down as he runs to Roland, “Hipau!” He points to his own face ‘tattoos’ and makes a “graahhh” face, as if trying to show off. He points to himself, “Pei ‘Toka!”

Roland turns around at the commotion the boy is making. When Roland notices the fascination and glee the boy has when he sees the tattoos he smirks and lifts a single eyebrow. "Hey kid, you like these?" He does a quick turnaround and points his thumbs to his back in a poste that really highlights the hippo. He tightens his back muscles and the hippos face goes from a neutral to a scrunched up angry face. While posing he speaks to the others over his shoulder. "Yeaaah, I'm kind of famous.. even here they're in awe of THUNDER HIPPO!" He makes a quick turnaround again and goes into hybrid form. "OHYEAAAH!" Roland puts his knuckles on his hips and looks to one side with his mouth open, baring his large teeth, he then looks directly at the kid and points at him before making a "graaahhh" face of his own. "Show me your pre-match hype face, kid!" 

Penny just rolls her eyes. "Can someone ask him for directions?"

 The child goes completely slack jawed and pale as Roland turns into his hippo hybrid form. The child seems to be completely frozen as he stammers a bit, like trying to recall how he’s supposed to act. It’s much like when one has total stage fright... but with a great deal of reverence.

Roland squats down by the boy and opens his giant mouth wide. "Cuh ohn, toucch tha heef" He points to a tooth and pokes the tip of it with a finger, a small crackle of electricity goes across the tooth in contact with the blood.
