Ormond follows closely behind Roland and the natives doing his best to pick up on the language, trying to listen for similarities compared to the tribe he first interacted with.
As they walk he mutters, "Gods it's hot."
//. CON Save vs heat exhaustion... 24
Ormond's walk slows to about half his normal pace.
Ormond hearing Penny make similar complaints, says, "I'm on the same train as you... I didn't want to take my armor off, but if I keep going like this I may collapse."
With both Ormond and Penny stripping down from their armor, it immediately feels much cooler. Your limbs can stretch freely without the threat of an ever impending rash. The remaining trek through brush is much quicker than it would have been now. Meanwhile, the massive macaw-like creatures still flap far above your heads. There are times when they draw near, but the native group knows how to ward them off before they get any funny ideas.
After another hour, your group finally reaches the source of the smoke, a small village built amid a clearing. Around the perimeter of the village are fences arranged to keep animals and wildlife out, but allow people through. There are, of course, guards stationed who stop your group at the sight of you. Tonta converses quietly with the guards, nods are shared, and one guard leaves deeper into the village. From what you can see, there are only about 50 or so buildings in the area, which much smaller than many of the towns above ground. Ormond would also know that it is definitely smaller than Rionta was.
After a few moments, several guards accompany an older, portlier man, clad very thin, fine fabrics. Furthermore, he sports several ivory piercings that accentuate his tattoos, which also seem more ceremonial than Tonta’s. He seems a bit disgruntled at having to leave, but completely changes his attitude as he sees Roland. He falls to a knee and the other guards do as well, “Mai, gale Hipau. Peilei Kohipau, okaagale Hipauta.” And then he gives a lot of words that are far too quick for you to get.
Roland rests his glaive on one shoulder and strikes a pose. "That's right! I GET IT NOW! I am THUNDER HIPAUTA!". He then gestures for the man to get up and makes signals while talking very slowly. "Pei..ho?..Ormond. Peiho Deshi. Peiho Little-Girl." Roland opens his mouth wide. "Food..a? " He pretends to hold something in his hand and throwing it into his mouth, making smacking his jaws together rubbing his belly. "We hun-gry."

Hino nods, meanwhile Kohipau and his two guards stand and lead you deeper into the village. The rest of the tribe watches in awe as ‘Hipau’ returns to them once more, after centuries of being gone. The homestead is roughly twice the size of the other homes. Inside is a small fire. Interestingly, the structure of the fire is definitely a more modern design, as Ormond can tell. Furthermore, Penny notes that there are actually a few rudimentary oil lanterns. The tech is a bit off, but the general idea is definitely there. Odd thing is that both designs were developed after the New World was made.
Meanwhile, Deshi notes the absolutely fascinating tapestries that drape the ‘walls’ of the homestead. The designs are very similar to the tattoos present on the people, but very much geared to a more historical record method.
Roland notes that there is food! GLORIOUS FOOD! But... on the way in... he could’ve sworn that he felt a chill run up his spine. His hippo senses tell him... he was being watched. MALICIOUSLY!

Roland notices the food on the table, clearly he is anxious to try it. Trying to imagine how they prepare their food down here he pictures a dino steak, fried?.. Roasted?.. Stewed?. Roland snaps out of it, grunts and looks around. Anything off about the room? Does it smell like anyone is hiding behind the tapestries or under the tables?

Roland pokes the meat with a meaty finger. "I see they made me food. Looks like there isn't any for you suckers." He grabs a knife and cuts off chunk of meat and starts eating, with his mouth full of dino he glares at the door with squinted eyes.
“Can we just leave him here with his people?” Penny asks the others as she puts her stuff down.
"That," Deshi replies, standing near Penny," would certainly make our endeavor a bit more predictable." He peers more closely at the tapestry before him. "However, you cannot deny that his propensity for bloviation has benefited us here."
The tortle sits and summons his quill, scratching away at his larger notepad a copy of this apparent historical text. "Beg pardon, Master Hino," He beckons the interpreter near. "Deshi wonders whether this tapestry depicts, ah, true history, or is this a story made by your people?"
If that's no go, he tries again, but with more hand movements!
"Hino," Ormond abruptly asks, "have you seen others from Mawa? Tribes in similar dress with weapons. Also, how do you protect yourself in this heat? My armor is useless."
He repeats his last question and bit about the armor in undercommon assuming it may be more useful as it's a trading language.
Puffing (Con Save: 7), Penny holds up a hand, "Hey, wait up. I just have to get out of this stifling armor..." and she doffs her armor.
