Regardless of outcome, Ian intends to insult Irma by whispering "Fool of a paladin!"
If Ian acts first, he intends to cast a sleep spell on the aberration pulling out his lute and singing a lullaby.
If a party member goes unconscious, Ian will use healing word as a bonus action after shouting a vicious mockery at the enemy creature.
If other party members attack prior to the sleep spell, Ian plans to stay behind Irma and shout vicious mockeries at the aberration, only engaging with his rapier if warranted.
If other party members run away, Ian plans on running away in all haste as well.
Gregor's currently clawed hand clenches and begins to leave a faint trail of mist in the the air. Having thus prepared his Frostbite, he waits for the creature to engage the party.
Putting aside his feelings of embarrassment at his blunder, Irma readies his hammer and his shield.
If he is able to act first, Irma intends to defend the group with his shield, moving in front of any member that is targeted by the creature.
Irma will cover the bard Ian from damage to allow him time to cast the spell if Ian is going after him.
If the creature moves to rush the group Irma will push forward to meet up in a defensive position then follow up with an hammer swing to draw it's attention.
Staying out of what little light remains, and having stayed as stealthy as possible, Falshen moves to whatever position might best allow him to ambush the creature from darkness and waits to strike. He hopes to catch the creature from behind, but will utilize any good opportunity to make a sneak attack.
Gregor unleashes his Frostbite spell, a beam of crackling cold energy streaking through the dark, foetid air of the tunnel to strike the malevolent abomination, forcing the creature to make a Constitutionsaving throw: 19

Ian laughs derisively at the missed eye-ray and says with vicious intent, "You crooked-eyed cumberworld! You couldn't see the broad side of a barn, much less hit it."
The abhorrent orb's central eye bulges in rage at Ian's abusive broadside, and one of its tentacles actually explodes in a fit of apoplectic frenzy.
Then, from the shadows, Falshen's arrow zips straight into its slavering maw, and the thing gives a raw gasp, coughs a spate of dark blood, wavers in the air, and falls to the ground with a dull squelch.
Leaving the mostly exploded corpse to be investigated by Falshen or Gregor, Ian peers with his darkvision down the tunnel towards the ladder at the trifurcation to see if he can perceive any traps, movement, or other creatures. He will do so stealthily while holding to the darkest spots of the tunnel ready to leap back at a moment's notice behind Irma's cover and to raise alarm.
While moving into position Ian inspires Falshen by saying, "Your eyes, quick wittedness, and strength proved the difference for us here. May it continue to do so now."

As the party readies itself for the encounter, the tiny aberration suddenly stops, bares its teeth, and hisses - you are spotted!

Whatever arcane knowledge Irma might have picked up over the course of his career has utterly failed him at this juncture.
Gregor motions Falshen to continue along the path, then turns to Teapot, "An attempt to silence you, or mere coincidence, do you think?"
Turning, Gregor sees no Teapot. The kenku has vanished.
"Gentlemen," Gregor says, "We have a problem."
