Manfred describes to the others what he learned from the inn's patrons and Tom's own somewhat strange behavior. "I truly do not know what we should attempt now. I believe the missing pages to Dain's book are our only avenue of gaining an advantage, but we don't even know if Johan has them..."
As Albanus describes what they had learned about the gnomes, he remains silent, nodding along, eyes darting between Albanus, Survivor looming next to him, and Ashtear.
DM:
"Yes, of course. Whatever you want," he says in his head, eagerly. "I am being watched, my dear, so unless there is a major distraction, I would not be able to get the journal from her and escape before they caught me. But she is fond of the child. If you have the girl Winter, I believe Ashtear and the others will be more inclined to cooperate."
"So the inn isn't good for Winter.. Bringing her along is quite dangerous as well. Dangerous chocies regardless.. Winter, even knowing the dangers of staying and going. What would you like? I know you're young, but you certainly understand the dangers of both I think. We can't decide for you in the end. "
Turning to the rest of the group, "If they want us to meet at their home, then I'd assume the machine is within the magistrate-its also possibly a rather similiar and h igher landmark in the area. So it would make sense as far as the potential reach."
"Do we go to find this smith or do we go to find this baroness, or what?" Dain asks. "Maybe now is a good time to send that message to johan? Ask about the manuscript, the baroness, and whatever else you want..."
Aura seemed quiet after she left with Albanus and the group to talk to the gnomes. A small anxiety growing about the fate of the town and also of her charmed companion. Once the group's reunited, Aura asks Manfred, "Huh... Did you hear from the succubus again? I- hope you don't mind me asking-... I've just been very concerned about you after all of that stuff happened back there..."
Manfred looks at Aura, seemingly startled out of his thoughts. "Sorry, no. I am a bit distracted. We are running very low on time, and yet there is so much to do. If I can probably call upon my father's name to get us into the Keep, but whether we can find the gnomes or Johan in time is as an open question."
Aura went a bit quiet, focusing on just hearing the bard, but after he's done, she tenses a bit and tries to discern whether his words were truthful or not.
Aura shakes her head and looks away, whether he was speaking the truth or not was less of a concern at the moment than knowing he was okay. "I... understand. If they say something, then, you can feel free to tell us. I'd assume it's one of the most important things we need to know as we proceed..."
Albanus will move towards Ashtear and Aura and nod to a spot a little ways away from the main group. Whispering, he’ll say “Let’s send a message to Johan again. Where should we go? Any alley should be okay since we just need to write.” If they agree, we write the following:
Johan advise/ do you have missing pages? / where are you, where machine? / who to trust- is magistrate or baroness compromised? / 25 word reply /
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"That message seems fine." Shuffing off towards an alley way, handing the journal to Albanus to message, but keeeping it near/inbetween them, they send a message while keeping a look out.
23 Perception if needed.
(and Aura if she so choses-but currently we're moved away from Manfred for safety. Ashtear hasn't noticed that he was after her book-just that she was attacked earlier. but still good to be careful asa we have limited uses)

Pages stashed in my room at inn. Machine with me at keep. Magistrate is fine, baroness might be compromised, get pages. Then come to me!

16 Perception if needed.
(While keeping a lookout, you do notice Winter has started wander off, and is heading towards the keep. You also hear something that sounds far off and sort of like a person running, but a very very big person. You surmise its probably some sort of Giant-kin.)
Manfred-
In the back of your mind you hear the whispers again. Well, Janice as you know her, is dealing with the one you call Winter, but in the meantime, I've got a little something to distract the others. At least for a little while. Once my other "friend" arrives, go ahead and get that journal on over to me at Janices house any way you can. Do whatever you have to do.
Manfred will look up at Survivor slowly. "I would not trust me. At all." He says finally, bracing for whatever is about to happen, but at the same time unable to warn them.
Ashtear will clap shut the book and call out "Get Winter, Something's happening!"
(If winter is nearby (i.e. within moving distance), Ashtear will stow the book and use her movement to get to her. Primary objective: Keep her safe from whateveri s coming, and the possibility that she is wondering off due to Charm influences as a hostage)
Upon reading Johan's message, Albanus relates that to the group. "We should head to the inn again, we may have missed something. Grab Winter and let's go." Albanus will implore the group to get moving towards the inn.
The way he keeps looking at Ashtear, and her bag then back at you and Survivor its clear that he is planning something -- but he hasn't made a move yet.
Seeing no one else doing anything about Ashtear and Albanus's requests, Aura moves to pick Winter by the arm and pull her towards the inn, where the others of the group were going. "C'mon, we need to leave... Where were you going anyways?"
"Ware Manferd!" Dain calls to the others. "Watch the book..." Glancing to Winter. "don't take her to the Inn, the inkeep there is just as bad as far as we can tell."
Just as these events unfold, you all can hear a scream from the edge of town, several people hurrying to see whats the condition, before running back the other way. Those of you standing in the street still hear the sound getting clkser and closer, before emerging from over the small hill off to the left a massive troll emerge, running at a full sprint towards the town.
The guards begin shouting for everyone to enter the keep, and two go running ahead, trying to head off the troll before its able to hurt any civilians. The two guards by the door begin opening the doors and ushering people in as quickly as possible.
Aura- As you scoop up Winter, she turns looking at you curiously, trying to pull out of your grasp but failing to escape. The mean lady said she is gonna give me back my family. I trust her this time. Let me go, please?
Manfred-
(Up to you what your character would do, but this was the signal you were waiting for to go ahead)
