Looking betweeen the two groups.. Ashtear finds her unnerving but this turned awkward quickly to her sensabilities. "I mean.. the Innkeeper was busy talking to our group-so he couldn't help. and now she's suddenly surrounded by strangers in a dark alley. Thats alarming Aura."
Ashtear will move next to Albanus and Janice when Dain moves forward, keeping herself between the groups. (Albanus janice, and Manfred Aura), glancing between the two. Still feeling something is off about Janice, but now finding something off about the sudden aggression to a reasonable if odd situation. "That seems the easiest solution Dain, we could also just get the Innkeep as well."
Vulgrom turns to Survivor with the exaggerated frown of being stumped, "Sooo, your name, lad. 'Survivor'? Surely your Ma and or Pa didn't call you that?" He sips the remnants of his drink, making it last as long as he can while still keeping an eye out for bar staff.
Janice smiles, more wholeheartedly this time as both Albanus and Dain speak up, seemingly much more approving of the dwarf wanting some more ale. While looking slightly confused by Albanus seemingly blacking out for just a moment, she is taken aback by Aura and her bold delivery, her brow raising as the Genasi speaks.
"I agree. There is something off about this whole situation. Let's all just take a second here before we open that door. Janice, if there is anything you would like to tell us before things become unpleasant, now might be an appropriate time. If you know anything about this missing persons business, it will go a bit easier for you if you come clean." He slowly unhooks the cover of his rapier.
Janice looks back to you, with even more look of shock on her face. Im not exactly sure what you mean by unpleasant, but I can assure you I have no idea what you are talking about!
Eveyone present can make an Insight check on this. The DC is: 27
(As opposed to rolling with advantage here, I'll just ask if Albanus can roll with disadvantage please.
Also Dain as you yank on the door you find it is still locked, you can try a strength check to force it open, or try something else if you want)
While Ashtear speaks up, Janice continues to take another step back, her back pressing against the outer wall of the old shed, here, Albanus, if you would open the door and show your friends Im not out of sorts here, just a regular beermaid doing her job before leaving for the night. She says handing the key over to Albanus. (For some reason Albanus, you feel compelled to do so, again feel free to rp it how you like)
With more than a few of the group defending Janice, Aura is thrown off-guard, and her guard lowers significantly. Her sudden bout of determination falters, and it turns into her feeling a little embarrassed she got angry in the first place. "Sorry... I, huh, thought there was something wrong here... It still isn't good for us to go our separate ways, though. It may look like I like to stay lonely, but I prefer to stay anxious around other people than in danger alone..."
(Aura's technically the only one in the party who could've succeeded that check without help from other sources like Guidance, but she'd have to have rolled a Nat 20.)

A bit bewildered by everything, Albanus doesn't immediately take the key. Instead, he looks at it for a moment before an unshakeable impulse - an almost-magnetic attraction - forces his hand to the key. Albanus will head towards the door, bringing the key up to the latch. Before he inserts the key into the latch, a sliver of uncertaintly knifes his way into his mind. Albanus casts Thaumaturgy and manifest the sound of a cacophony of indistinct whispers coming from the bottom of the door. He'll then step back and look at both Janice and his companions and look at them confusedly. He will then turn his eyes the colour of bright fire, step up, and open the door.
Ashtear Inisght (because I"m sure this will work) 18 I can't mechancially succed that one.
(Additionally Ashtear wouldn't have a problem with this situation-- Janice was about to open it herself, and now she asked us to while acting frightened of the situation.)
Manfred curses to himself, still certain something is wrong, but increasingly seeing the mood of the group change, unwilling to challenge Janice further. He replaces the cover on his rapier and studies the barmaid intently, looking for any sign of deception.
Insight Check: 11 (No way for me to succeed on this roll either)
Seeing none, Manfred instead mumbles a quick apology "My apologies to all of you, but to you in particular, dear Janice. Our current errand and my life the last few months have made me quick to distrust. It has been a long day, so I think perhaps I should take advantage of the proprietor's generosity and retire for the evening."
With Aura not being aggresive now, and Albanus stepping up to open the door, Janice relaxs a bit. I understand really. You're companion mentioned something about the Giant Slayers guild, I can only assume you're working for them like the last guy that came here. I'm glad you are taking this so seriously and all, but like I said, I cant help you with any of that. Maybe try the magistrate tomorrow.

(As you open the door you look inside and see just what youd expect to see, several kegs of beer and a few bottles of wine on racks further towards the back of the shed. Janice looks inquisitively at you and the door upon hearing the whispers from the doorway, but says nothing. Go ahead with a perception or investigation roll if youd like to look a bit closer at the room)

She nods to you, more at ease now than previously. I think that would be best as well. To.s brother will be here any moment to relieve me but I can go ahead and get your rooms settled I'm sure, if you'd like to just come with me, I think we all could use some rest. She says, gesturing back towards the back door of the inn.
Survivor will continue looking around for either the barman's brother or the barmaid, hoping to get some food soon. Shaking his head at Vulgrom's question, "No, my clan does not use personal names except on truly important occasions, and even then, only within the clan. But we are each given a nickname, one that reflects our deeds, and can change as our lives go on. My clan gave me the name Survivor after they all died in a dragon attack, as I was the sole survivor. Any sign of anyone working here? I'm getting hungry."
"Lookin like da kegs be right over dere..." Dain says with a nod to where the kegs sit. "Which of em do ye want brought in?" Dain asks the serving girl. "Seemin like dere be nuff of us ta be gettin da job done right quick."
Insight (with guidance): 8 (Still going to fail though...)
As he pushes the door open, the smell of spilled ale wafts from inside. Albanus, with darkvision, will step into the shed and look around closer. (Investigation: 6)

Janice nods towards one of the kegs closest to the door, keeping her eyes mostly on Manfred as she directs Dain to one of the kegs, and also looking to the back over her shoulder as if expecting someone to arrive. (Edit: Only Ashtear notices this)

((Ooc sorry for taking awhile to respond, work schedule has been crazy past few days, but should be back to normal now))
"Oh, lad... I'm... I'm so sorry to hear that." Vulgrom looks down for a moment, he touches his symbol of Moradin, mumbles a blessing to himself. But he's quick to change the subject as quick as goliath.
"Yeah, ye right! Where is that landlord's brother? Did I hear that right?"
Ashtear notes her intentions... but doesn't find it strange considering this is the 2nd or 3rd time someone's walked up on her in the last 5 mins--expecting our other members to randomly show up isn't unwarrented.
However, Ashtear will keep her attention for any oddities or sounds, just in case it's not just simple "stranger danger" nerves. Particularly in the direction she pays heed to--doublely so if it isn't towards the Inn. Idling opening a small metal slide box, and consuming a pill.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dain makes a very careful check of the room inside. He figures it might be good to know what kinds of ale and such the place has for making his next order.
Manfred will take a step towards the back door of the inn, but wave off her efforts to accompany him, still on edge.. "No, thank you, lass. I've troubled you enough for the day, especially since you're about to leave. Your employer mentioned you hail from the North. I happen to be the wayward son of the leading families up there. Whereabouts do you hail?"
He'll look to the others to see if anyone else is making a move to go back inside, if not, he'll hang back awkwardly, totally confused about the entire situation.

(As you look around, finally the door opens and a halfling that could only be Toms brother, walks through and hangs a coat on the coat rack by the door. He looks around a bit perplexed, more than likely wondering where any of the fellow employees or his brother are.)

((Nice!)) (Looking about carefully, you pick up on something that Albanus seemed to have missed, a small silver disk with a glass center has been stuffed between two of the barrells. It seems to be arcane in nature, with a few runes carved into the disk, but they look almost random and disjointed.)

At hearing this, Janice stops short, before turning away from you all and saying oh you know, here and there. Probably nowhere youre familiar with. Why dont you all come back inside now and John will get your rooms settled. I believe I just heard him come in actually.

(Yes, sorry for the loose terms, but yes as far you guys know those guys are basically the towns guardsmen)
Noticing the townsguard, and not wanting to see... well more suspecious than we are-and ideally helping the situation Ashtear calls out to what she assumes is a township guard.
Waving her left arm, "Hey! How's it going? We're uh. Helping Janice with some kegs, I guess they're not used to large groups at once." Trying to be amicable as to not have the guard assume the worst of the strange situation.
