Valrish walks around, trying to find any place to sell his club, shortsword, and the drow jewellery he had kept. After all, when it comes to shiny things, gold is much better than any gem. He also tries to look for a couple scimitars, and maybe another couple oil flasks for his lantern.
Perception (in case he spots any rabbit-ish derro): 15
You find one weapon vendor who claims to buy anything, but as soon as you try to offer him the club, he berates you with insults. In the middle of his tirade, a derro comes up, asking to purchase a dagger, and the merchant immediately reacts properly and kind, offering the give the derro the daggers at a discount. You move on, finding another merchant who gives you 5 gold and and 10 copper for the weapons. You easily find and purchase two scimitars (50 gold total) and two flasks of oil (2 sp)
You ask around about where to sell the jewels. None of the duergar merchants want anything to do with them, quickly identifying them as drow jewelry. Some even mutter something about curses, and more than one shutter is closed in your face as the merchant retreats from the pitch black gems into their stall.
After several tries to sell, you do manage to get pointed towards a merchant stall run by drow traders. They deal mostly in weapons, but have been known to take things that other residents of Gracklstugh shy away from.
(OOG Before I continue, I want to confirm if you go to the drow to sell the gems.)
Weapons, weapons, and, just for a change of pace, more weapons. Typical duergar. Is there anything civilized--I'd settle for a "Welcome to Gracklstugh" sign at this point--in this entire bazaar?
OOC: A bookstore would be ideal, if I can get one.
You cast your eyes about for traders selling books. The duergar aren't known for their love of reading, but you do manage to find one merchant selling a variety of books collected from those passing through the underdark. He bids you to browse and pick out anything you want. "Find something you like! All books are 5 gold, regardless of the content. Can't say I've actually read what's in them anyway."
(OOG Investigation check to peruse the books for something good. Let me know what type of book you're looking for.)
19. Anything that can teach me something I don't know, especially about giants, demons, or faerzress.

The drow merchant eyes you suspiciously as you approach, which doesn't altogether seem that different from how most people view you in the underdark. Upon presenting the gems, however, his eyes widen, and he let's out an audible gasp. "Where did you get these? Quickly, tell me!" he demands.
The merchant starts looking furtively around the market. "Well, I hate to tell you this, but that merchant played a cruel joke on you, and no wonder. They must have wanted to unload these quickly. I hope you didn't pay much. These are 'blessed' by Lloth. Surely you must have noticed? No matter. Whoever has these is a target, and that's not going to be me. I left Menzoberranzan for a reason, and it wasn't to give them a beacon to find me. If I were you, I'd drop those in the nearest sewer, and then get far away from here."
He looks around the market again, then swears under his breath and goes to shut the door on the stall. Valrish, you can tell he's quite worried. He believes you got them from a merchant, but he also believes them to be dangerous. If Ilvara and your previous drow captors are still looking for you, these may be endangering you and your group.

You scan the shelves and stacks of books for anything pertinent to your current predicament. You find a lot of worthless books and journals, most likely left by adventurers and traveling groups that didn't make it in the underdark. There are a few histories, full of names from long gone eras, and far away places.
One book, however, does peak your interest. It's an old journal, with well detailed notes on the fungi of the underdark. You are about to dismiss it, but then see talk of the Neverlight Grove, and strange occurences there that sound all too familiar for your current situation. You're not sure when the book was written, but you decide you may want to spend more time going through it.
"Oh that's a nice one,"says the shopkeep, seeing you browse the book. "It's got recipes in the back there, if you're looking for more ways to eat the local flora. It's a steal at 100 gold for that one."
"If what the drow said is true, our former captors already know where we are. I doubt they will try a reckless move in this city. Nevertheless, we must lose them."

Meanwhile, Oorr will be out in the Bazaar looking for a cart, caravan or boat heading out the city (Perception 19).
You see plenty of carts around, but most are for the merchants, and you can't be sure those will be leaving the city any time soon. However, you're not that far from the darklake, and as you look around, you notice several familiar figures loading a boat on one of the docks. It's the adventuring party you saw the last night in the inn talking in the corner. They appear to have finished supplying and are preparing for a long journey on the lake.

He smiles wide as he takes your gold. "Thank you for your business kind sir! If you don't mind, spread the word we're having a books sale! All books, 5 gold pieces, regardless of content."He puts the money in his cash box, as you take the book.
