Randy investigates the other occupants of the room, probing them passively with his mind, trying to determine if any of them might have useful information.
Randy: Yagra looks up at you with disgust. "The Skewered Dragon? I hate that place, it always reeks of fish. It's a dive bar in the Dock Ward, I've been there a few times on business. I can tell you this, that place is not for fancy folk, unless they want to lose their money. The back room has some gambling and I've heard it's not all on the up and up."
Dewey walks up having used his cat sense to spy in the conversation.
“Nothing wrong with some fragrant fish. Why I knew a Tabaxi in Greenest who used to rub it on his nethers to attract the ladies. But tell me more about the Skewered Dragon... how many exits? Any guards? Any brigands?”
Dewey: Yagra is slightly annoyed by the string of questions. "Shit, man, it's a bar. An entrance in the front, and a door in the back to throw out the trash. There are no guards and the patrons are mostly crusty dockworkers." She takes a pull from her mug.
“Haha! A perfect opening for Randy the Rambunctious! No crustiness shall stop him from finishing! Plus, now we know we can always go right up the backdoor!”
You all gather your things, and as you do, Sol Rhea returns with a new bat. Once everyone is together, you all depart the Yawning Portal in the Castle Ward for the Skewered Dragon in the Dock Ward.
You follow the directions Volo gave you. You travel east on Rainrun St and make right on Snail Street, a major thoroughfare. Soon you enter the Dock Ward.
When Snail Street bends left, you find yourselves on a street that has part of it cordoned off by the City Watch. Lying on the cobblestones are a half-dozen corpses, seemingly the victims of some terrible skirmish. Watch officers have disarmed and arrested three blood-drenched humans and are in the midst of questioning witnesses. One of the officers sees you. "Get on," she says. "Nothing to see here."
Randy: You use your Invasive Thoughts ability to attempt to read the thoughts of the members of the City Watch, but you get nothing. It seems this feature only works as a way for you to communicate telepathically, not read thoughts. Instead you investigate the scene, but all you can make out is that it's a mess. The suspects are covered in blood and so is the ground and a nearby wall. The Watch members are smearing with blood, probably from subduing the men. The dead lay where they fell.
Anyone else want to do anything?
Or do you want to continue to the Skewered Dragon?
Dewey: You look over the scene with your cat eyes. You notice some of the corpses have similar tattoos to Krentz. Whatever happened here may have something to do with why Yagra was jumped earlier.
Sol eyes the bodies. "Xanathar's eyes are everywhere..." she says quietly, pointing the tattoos out discreetly while stroking D'artagnan Pennysworth Buttondown II, who is nestled into a small sling on her belt.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Randy cautiously approaches the watch guards maintaining a 20 foot distance and, using the same knowledge of how the mind works which allows him to speak directly into sentient minds, he influences the guards to answer him candidly and forthrightly. "Tell me what happened here and what these facial tattoos mean? Have you sees any lights in the sky? Quickly moving lights in the sky?" Randy's words are but a whisper, but everybody can hear them as though he were speaking them directly into their ears.
Kevin: You notice that a few of the corpses and one of the prisoners has tattoos of flying snakes, either on their arms or their neck.
Randy: The guard perks up at the sound of your whisper. "Just some local gang stuff, nothing for you folks to worry about. The tattoos mean they're committed to the gang for life." She looks at the corpses on the road. "Or death."
"As for lights in the sky, no...I haven't seen anything like that."

Dewey slaps Randy on the back encouragingly.
Sol continues with her spell, occasionally raising her voice as she recites.
I draw!
Randy screams into Dewey's mind "NO PROBING MY BACK DOOR." Outwardly he says, "All right," but deep within his hood his eyes glow faintly red.
