Lafetha casts Pass without Trace so the group will have no trouble going either way.
The people in the mine suddenly turn, looking at the group. Some grab picks into their hands as Lafetha casts; her words and the energies surrounding them.
"What?!" "Oh no...." "Someone go!"
A few begin to bolt out of the chamber, leaving things behind.
Two begin to move over towards Lafetha, definitely moving to engage and tackle her.
"Well, I suppose this is going to turn ugly rather quickly..." Abigail whispers to herself before attempting to waylay the advancing miners.
"Gentlemen, please. We are here for your protection, and we have with us a devotee of the Iron Queen who has sanctioned our friend's... unusual blaspheme for the purposes of this excursion. Sorrow is not a force to be dealt with lightly, as I am sure you would all agree, so we must take certain precautionary measures to help ensure the success of our initial survey." She gestures to Tarak to say or do something to help with the credentials.
Depending on what you think is best, I am either trying to help Tarak with a Deception roll, or performing one myself:
Tarak quickly moves to stop them from leaving and begins to placate them. “My friends, please wait a moment listen to what my companion says. This cave is a dangerous place and she is right that while I can do many things with the support of the faith sometimes we make use of other tools of necessity especially...” he chuckles “since I can not do all things by myself.”
The few that had begun to run,and the others who were beginning to advance over towards Lafetha all stop. Taking a moment to listen, glancing between both Abigail and Tarak. Some shake their heads, others give off a laugh to expel their nervous energies.
"Next time just tell us!" "Ahh yes, that does make some sense."
They seem to share a joke among themselves for a moment as they head back to work. A few walking into different areas with their hauls.
One Loxodon looks between the crew with a bit of a furrowed brow, before shaking their head. Muttering something about how Sorrow should just be left alone.
Several folks are gathered around the front. Two of them managing a large chalkboard with names and what appear to be shifts and times. Other notes are written on it as well, but it's all in Loxodon. The two look over, with one smelling the air, before shaking her head to the other.
"Little lost strangers?" One of the heavier set Loxodon woman gestures towards the entry way. "This isn't a place for sight seeing."
Morgan harumphs "It's a through sweep, sometimes we just have to double check... yes everything seems in order here..." Morgan goes to 7
As Morgan begins to walk away, one of the two Loxodon woman calls out quickly. "If you head back inside, without explaining who you are, I will consider you all a threat. Now explain yourselves. I want no problems among my Dek...."
The other Loxodon grabs her pickaxe.
Morgan, you find yourself blocked from heading into (area 7); those in the area seeming to listen to these two leaders of the mine.

"Please excuse my friend they don't always remember that other may not know who we are. Your Dek is under no threat. We have been dispatched to track down a source of some mild um..." he lowers his voice in a conspiratorial way, " embarrassment, to the church and have permission to be here. We promise not to obstruct your work in any way and will be gone before you know it."
he hopes polite half truths will convince them to not come to violence. if it works they will head to 7.

Tarak steps up to the Matron. “Peace friends. I apologize for the improper communication. We truly meant no harm. My name is Tarak, I am a Paladin of the Faith and this rugged bunch are my hirelings and yes while the Faith may be interested in what we find here. We don’t normally announce what we seek...” he throws a look at at Wilson as if chiding him. “But...since it has been brought out into the open...Recently a contact may have entered your mine and hidden something he was meant to deliver to us. When we found him he told us it was hidden in the mine but not exactly where. As discussed with your co-workers in the last two rooms we are here as security experts as we know of some of the dangers of the mine. We know of the creature Sorrow and her children and wish not to disturb them or harm them if possible. We would like to work with you and your people instead of against them. Any assistance you could provide would be helpful.“
He goes on to describe the gnome a nod asks if she recognizes him or has seen any other unusual people.

The two exchange a look. The Matron and the other begin to have a heated exchange. It's difficult to figure out exactly what they're discussing - but the exchange gets heated. Eventually there seems to be some sort of conclusion, the Matron turning back to the crew...
"You may look for what you seek. However I ask you come find me when you find it. The Ashgard are also looking for whatever it is you are as well." The other begins to say something but the Matron seems to keep the other in line. "I'm not here to decide who is right; the Faith or the Ashgard. You say it is for you, they say they have been searching for something that will bring great harm."
Her trunk twirls around. "I won't help you. But I won't impede you. If you find it, I highly suggest you can bring it back here. So we can bring up what to do with it, and who to give it to." She doesn't give any further information towards where it could be, but it does seem your presence will be tolerated. But... you have the feeling that once you leave, at least another will do their best to track down the Ashgard and tell them of the conversation.
"Well then, we should get going... No guarantee we will find what we are looking for in here before we need a break, and if we do not but it is still in here - we have just informed the Ashe Guard where to focus their own search. Now that the charade is up, would you mind if I took a look up there?" Abigail asks the foreman, points up north [Area 16].
Tarak looks to the Matron. “This beast Sorrow, do you happen to know where she nests? We would prefer to not stumble into her on accident. Maybe you have a map of the cave system we could borrow.”
You head off for a moment. Heading down one of the shafts into the newer mine. Several people are busy clearing up debris. Others bracing the tunnel. A few canaries linger in cages from the ceiling, chirping away. The miners seeming to be taking extra care with their picks as they work. Could be similar to the acidic air you saw in other parts of the cave.. some sort of natural gas or danger lurking in the rocks.
It appears they are busy trying to reach a series of stones that have a faint rainbow color to them; only beginning to peek through. But the people here are busy, leaving a sliver of the same rainbow colored stone on the ground, along with what is likely a uncut diamond.
Tarak...
The woman gives a nod. "I do agree," she describes how to get to the location they know her to rest in (21). "Three things you should know about Sorrow, in case you become in danger. She hates the sunlight. She can become spooked by loud noises," this making you think about the explosions you heard coming from the mine. May have been an attempt to spook her away earlier in the day. "And she is immortal."
The chamber itself is a older part of the mine. The walls carved from hundreds of thousand of picks over time. A handful of miners linger around, mostly going to and from different spots. A handful of carts are inside, but nothing of note inside.
The hanging lanterns keep the area rather well lit.
One section has names carved into the well worn rocks, like a memorial of sorts.
It does continue on towards (area 10), which seems to be a more active spot for the miners. Similar to what you saw back when you entered in (area 8).
The area is more quiet than other locations you've passed through. The walls of these tunnels changing a bit; the light spilling out across them causing jagged rainbow patterns. It looks like they began to mine a bit, before connecting to a natural tunnel that leads over towards
Path to 21 A large series of hanging lanters stop at what is likely where their mining expedition met the natural cave. Light pouring down the tunnel which decends into the earth a bit before being consumed by darkness around a bend. Large signs stating DANGER are across the remaining wooden beams. What seems to be remains of boulders, metal and wooden barriers, and other attempts to block off the passage have failed. The creature you have come to learn has the name Sorrow able to tear through it.
It's not possible to see from the edge of the light into the actual nesting chamber. And, having experienced the offspring of the shadow like beast, having a light source will be of critical importance if you want to be able to see Sorrow. Let alone deal with a creature that can turn into mist, or emit sounds that paralyze a person. But, on the other hand, holding a light will make it impossible to move unnoticed. (Stealth not possible inside the brightly lit portion of anything that emits light)
-------------------------------- It does appear that the Loxodon are beginning to mine a new area, as well as a large chamber still lit up heads away from the chamber you need to go to (Area 2). The mining operation having reached a large cavern that expands out quite a bit. The sounds of people further down in it echoing a bit; along with the sounds of skiddering.
Lafetha casts Pass without Trace so the group will have no trouble going either way.
