Seeing two team members stunned and two pinned in the tunnel Tarak casts minor illusion Recalling the sounds Sorrow’s children made when screaming for her to come help them earlier he quickly recreates that sound as far down the other tunnel exit as possible. Hoping to give the team time to unstun and search a bit.
It’s an intelligence (investigation) check against my Spell save DC14
Summary: Morgan and Abigail find themselves lock in their own bodies. Paralized by that low bass pulse. The surge of energy in their muscles contracting to keep them still. Wilson fires off a shot, (10), but it unable to move the massive creature. With Sorrow still in his and Lafetha's face; her hand tosses out. A cloud of poison gas forming across her face (20). Sorrow reels back, letting out the sound of gagging for a moment.
Tarak casts; his bone arm vibrating for a moment as the sounds of Sorrow's crying kids fill the end of the room. Her attention turns quickly, turning into mist and reappearing before moving over to the edge. Her head twisting around a bit, before exiting the chamber.
Situation: The crew is in the nesting chamber. Sorrow is down somewhere in the tunnel (by 20). Due to the minor illusion, she'll like turn back around (on initiative 10) and return.
A series of old egg casings line the walls. It's about a move to reach one, or her current nest. (Investigate or Perception)
Summary: The crew begins to take a look through various leftover casings of eggs. Abigail (on A), isn't able to search very well. Breaking out of her stealth to look through it. Pushing and rolling things away, clacking against one another. Lafetha darts over to a different section of eggs. In the discarded bones and egg casings, she does manage to find a somewhat crushed and half eaten necklace. The stones that remain easily worth 200 gold.
Tarak heads over towards a separate area. Looking through it, and is certain nothing is there. Wilson heads over near Abigail. In his pursuit he does notice it; a small box fitting the description from the gnome. It's easily palm able, able to fit in a pocket. A small lock on the front keeping it's contents safe.
Morgan moves around the active nest. One of the eggs is rotten. Decaying bones inside of it that seem twisted and broken. It's possible to reach in and grab them (you could have done this after your roll as a free action.) Another one of the ostrich sized eggs wiggles a bit. A not yet hatched.. whatever Sorrow is.
Sorrow returns. Looking around her chamber and seeing the others, but her eyes lock on Morgan. Her body turning to shadow before reappearing before them. A quick bite (19: 10 physical + 9 Necromantic) followed by her attempting to claw and pin them to the ground. But Morgan's quick reflexes keep the claw at bay.
Situation: Morgan and Sorrow are engaged in a melee fight in the middle of the nesting chamber. The others are scattered around the perimeter; about 30 feet away from the two. Morgan is about 30 feet from either exit (20 - an unknown / 13 - back towards the Loxodon miners).
The others are each 30 feet from two engaged in the middle of the room, and are a easy (full action to move) to get to either exit (20 or 13).
Morgan looks at the egg and says, "get out of here! you belong with your kind! you're a wild animal! civilization is no place for you! it's better this way!" Morgan turns away tears streaming down their face "...better this way! Oh wait!" They look to the sorrow, "I honestly forgot you're still here, are you mad? you look mad. Look I'm just going to go...." disengage and move to 13
Assuming that Wilson has the box, Abigail makes her way toward Area 13 (otherwise, she will grab it and head toward Area 13 - just want to make sure this does not become a case of, "No one SAID they picked it up.").
Tarak once again casts Minor Illusion and makes Sorrow’s “kids” call for her. To give the others the best chance to leave unimpeded then he moves to 13 as well.
Intelligence (investigation) check against my Spell save DC14
Sorrow beats her wings, likely not fooled this time by the sounds of her children after just checking on them. The creature narrowing it's eyes as they crew turns and runs. Heading out of the lair with the small box in hand.
As you head back up the tunnel and to the main sections of the mining operation, it's clear Sorrow doesn't have intent to follow. Now back to where lights hang and dangle around. The faint smell of processing and the sounds of the picks. Two other Loxodon stand nearby now, compared to before. One with a hammer and shield, and the other with several sticks of explosives. Likely drawn there when Sorrow unleashed it's bellow - the sound easily heard for a miles around. They sort of have a... annoyed look on their face seeing the crew rush out.
You know that (18) the Matron of this particular down is down in the mines, or at least was. While only a few are standing around (8). But both paths lead directly out into the main area. (2) - somewhat off to the side - remains unexplored but you also hear people down that way.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Wait. Here, Wilson, let me see that box. I have an idea."
If Wilson gives it to her:
"Alight, here goes nothing. You guys stay here for a minute," Abigail starts toward a less active area of the mine [Area 7?], "It is going to look like I am just leaving you all down here to fend for yourselves... but that is exactly what I am going to be doing. You guys head to the exit and have fun. Hopefully they do not try to stop you when you clearly do not have the box."
Abigail attempts to duck behind some inactive carts or some shadowy crevice, where she will not be observed [Stealth if needed 27 ]. She plucks an eyelash and presses it deep within a small sappy orb before casting Invisibility on herself.
