"Wake you up from a distance, ha ha," Dain chuckles at Kendrick's jest. "You are kidding right? No? I'll bring a pole to poke you with. I can wake whoever is staying at the Topaz Fang, then we can carry my perilous amalgamation to the dome, and wake the rest of you horde at the Beggar's Axe. "
About to leave and head off to the inn, Kendrick is struck by something Dain said offhandedly about their quarry. He pauses and turns to the priest, saying, "You mentioned something about people saying they had seen Maghiel, but that it is impossible that they did. Why is it impossible that she might have been seen?"

Bilick nods to Kendrick. "I'll come with ye to the fancypants establishment. I dinnae think anyone of us should be by hisself while we're snoozin'. Are one of ye going with Osso?"
In a lower voice, he'll say to Tella "If anyone needs a minder, its that one."
"Why would it be impossible to see Maghiel the Shunned? You must have slept though your history classes," Dain taunts. "As history has it, she disappeared almost 500 years ago near the end of the Divine War, where she fought alongside Elves and Dwarves for years. She was a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, a decisive leader, and willing to do whatever needed to be done to gain a victory. Maghiel is most famous for her apparent desertion at the Battle of Gambedel’s Bridge. After some public invective about her allies’ lack of discipline, lack of heart, and lack of balls, Maghiel disappeared from the pages of history. Those that claim to have seen here say that she is unmistakable. There is no Elf can cast magic like she can, especially what she can do even while wearing armor."

Jamath notcice Tella the second she walks in the door, and pops up off of his seat. "Oh, Hey Tella, over here!" he waves, and then pats the seat next to his. "Can I get you something?"
Elel is working the bar. There are about half a dozen patrons, and she seems to be flirting with all of them. "Oh hi Osso," Elel says slowly. "Did my brave dwarf get the bad guy?" She looks at Osso longingly with her mouth slightly open.
-- At Topaz Fang -- (Kendrick, Bilick)
The inn is a two-story stone-walled building, with a small walled yard and garden. Accommodations consist of several small rooms with beds and woolen mattresses. The innkeeper is a cheerful female dwarf. "Welcome! I'm Fari! Would you like a table for dinner!" Fari seems to be overly excited about showing you to a table. "For dinner tonight we have:
1. Roasted Shellfish with Garlic and Artichoke, Glass of Cider (1 sp) 2. Steamed Dragon and Rye Bread, Glass of Cider (4 sp) 3. Baked Chicken with Pepper and Poached Eggs, Glass of Brandy (3 sp) 4. Pickled Hare and Soft Cheese, Tankard of Stout (10 cp) 5. Boiled Chicken and Blue Cheese, Tankard of Cider (7 cp)
There are several other patrons in the fine eating establishment.
"I think she's flirting with you" Tella says to her friend. When she hears Jamath calling, she smiles and walks over to join him "Ah, yes, it is nice to see you to, Jamath." then she orders anything on the menu, and any non-alcoholic drink they have. (I don't know what they have here, is it the same as the other inn?)
Kendrick sits down and smiles at the excited Dwarven hostess, saying, “I’ll have the dinner that comes with the tankard of cider—chicken and cheese, right?. This is my first time to the city; are there any sights I should make sure I get to see?”

Bilick will sit down and consider the menu carefully. Many of the items on the menu are things he could turn into, so it felt a little...awkward ordering them. After hemming and hawing and fussing with the menu, he orders the shellfish dish.
While Kendrick chats to the hostess, he will scan the room warily, keeping his eye out for anything unusual, or anyone from his less-than-savory past.
"Billick, how long can elves live? Is it possible that the one we are chasing has just been elsewhere for 500 years?" asks Kendrick, adding, "or do you think she disappeared magically during the Battle of Gambedel’s Bridge and has just recently returned for some reason?"

Bilick mulls over Kendrick's questions, still eating as disgustingly as ever.
"To be honest, lad. I dinnae know. It seems fantastical, that such a creature can live for so long, but I've seen plenty of strange, fantastical things at me grove, ye know? The place has been touched by the fey, so there's an uncanny kind of energy there. Always felt a bit uneasy around elves since then, I have. What I don't get is, if she's such a brilliant magical being, why is she interested in placing a magical curse on all of us what use magic?" He says, between mouthfuls of crab. "if yer man's machine works as its supposed to, we ought to see what the Academy's library has on this lass."
Bilick turns to Purbag, little bits of artichoke and garlic in his beard, cider streaming out of his mouth as he talks. "And what's yer story, big fella? Ye said ye came from Tsendur, but you've been pretty tight lipped since then. What have ye got to say fer yerself?"
(It is now about dinner time. It being winter, the sun will set soon.)
-- At The Beggar's Axe -- (Osso, Tella)
On the menu is:
1. Barley Porridge, Mug of Stout (4 cp) 2. Boiled Mutton and Lentils, Tankard of Cider (10 cp) 3. Vegetable Stew, Mug of Cider (4 cp) 4. Buckwheat Bread and Curd Cheese, Mug of Cider (5 cp) 5. Stewed Carrot, Mug of Stout (5 cp) 6. Pottage, Mug of Perry (5 cp)
Jamath has a smile that stretches across his face as Tella sits down next to him. "Hey, yeah, the cider is nice here. It's still got a lot of crisp sweetness to it. Not hard at all. It's nice for when you have a hang over." He seems to have second thoughts about his last comment and drowns his mouth in his ale. Then he sees that she came with Osso. "Oh, do you have a boy friend?"
-- At Topaz Fang -- (Kendrick, Bilick, Purbag)
Fari leaves and is replaced by a human woman who has extremely long, curled, white hair and brown eyes and soft pink skin. "Hello, I'm Godiva, and I'll be serving you tonight. Chicken and Cheese, yes," Godiva says as she straitens out some of the silverware and shifts some of the glasses. She's tall, and has a lean build. Her oval face is incredibly fanciable which is accented by an unfinished piercing on her right ear. "What to see around here? Ugh, I would say the academy, but with this blasted curse that's shut it down, I hope you like looking at rocks."
(Bilick doesn't see any unsavory types. The clientele all seems to be very well groomed and dressed. Although some of the other patrons seem to be giving you snooty looks.)
"Here, you go." Fari has returned with dinner jackets for the three of you. She helps everyone put them on. "Ah, don't you all look dashing." She then leaves to greet some guests that have just arrived.
"Cheese curd! We make back home." His mind is drawn back to his simple life before that fateful day in Durgans Rest. He missed it. But the city was so big and full of wonder. The sweet sound of Elals voice draws him back to the present..."ah, n-no bad guy. But soon. After sleep we go to golden wall and KABOOM!" His hands move as if signifying an explosion. A huge smile crosses his face. He hands over a single silver to cover the meal. "Rest for you"he grins. He settles into a chair, waiting patiently for his meal, thoughts of home flicking through his mind.

Jamath blushes when Tella says she is single, and takes a long sip of his ale. "Ah, the legendary Battlemage Maghiel the Shunned. Her magic gives her and her minions an unfair advantage in a fight."
Elel is engrossed in Osso's story. "A big bang huh?" Elel says with a smile as she playfully slips the silver coin out of Osso's hand. Out of nowhere, A male halfling delivers a punch landing on Osso's jaw. He is tall, and overweight, with blond hair and light gray eyes. He wears leather armor and has a short sword at his side. He stumbles after landing the blow and knocks over some drinks at a near by table. "Elel's my woman you little dwarf of a ... dwarf." He yells at Osso.

Somewhat taken aback from the sucker punch, he pauses for a moment. Remembering the altercation outside and the lesson Kendrick had taught him, Osso turns to the Halfling. "No trouble friend. Just buy a drink. No buy trouble"Even though his blood pressure is rising, he is managing to keep his cool - for now.

"Really, an advantage in battle, wow, her magic is something else" she says sounding interested. Then she sees Osso get punched by Elel's boyfriend, she bites her lip, then turns back to Jamath "Excuse me for a minute" she says to him before leaving the table to intervene in the fight before it gets worse or turns into a brawl "Leave him alone!" She says fiercely to Elel's boyfriend, then gives both the boyfriend and Osso an intimidating face.
Bilick strains at the tightness of the dinner jacket. "Gods, man. This feels like a restraint. When I was a wee lad, I'd look at places like this with envy. Now I know -- they are boring. The rich really are different."
He shakes his head in wonder just as the female halfling wanders up. "Ye do, do ye? Let's hear what ye have to say. Just because we're in this establishment dinnae mean we have any money for beggars, just so ye know" He says, somewhat suspiciously.
