As soon as I finish speaking*, I launch myself at the leader with a terrifying battle cry and a glowing sword**. 24
I laugh maniacally as my sword buries itself deep in the cultist's torso (dealing 14 piercing damage). I pull my sword out of his lifeless corpse and keep laughing.
*That's why I thought I might get a surprise round.
The cultists are all surprised. They cannot take a turn on their first turn in combat. Only four remain. "George" slithers up the leg of the leading cultist and rests on his shoulder. The three other cultists release the chained yuan-ti broodguard and it lashes wildly.
Broodguard Initiative: 3
Note: The broodguard is not surprised. Also, if you defeat all of these enemies, each of you gain +175 XP (550 XP till next level).
Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.

Ooc: Luckily, however, I have beaten the broodguard to the punch.
I will choose an enemy near one of my fellows and sink two daggers into it. Main hand: 15 to hit, 9 damage (with sneak attack). Off hand: 23 to hit, 1 damage

"George" had no relationship with you. Ever. At all.
And for the record, he does not use the stats of a poisonous snake.
Rears up and speaks to Grigor in an ophidian whisper: "When Sseth rises to power, I will have him enslave you instead of killing you. Consider it a reward for getting Tssra Tauroch to Chult without a ship pass!" With that, the snake slips into the jungle.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Do I see how far the snake could've gotten into the jungle?
(OOC: What I'm thinking about is if it took move+dash, it might've gotten to 60-80ft away from us. I can cast Sleep, which is 20ft radius circle, which covers a good chunk of ground. So if it first moved like 30ft to the edge of the jungle and then we lost sight of it, I have a pretty good chance of catching it with my spell still. But if not, then not)
If the snake is gone for good or someone else catches it, I will cut the broodguard: Main hand dagger - 14 to hit, 11 damage (with sneak attack)
Offhand dagger - 9 to hit
(Edit: Hmm, i did not change any of the rolling stuff, just added damage part of it... maybe I should just post->edit->post->edit and not add any rolls to the middle of text?)
Rat and Grigor can see the snake directly ahead of them, slithering through the jungle.
The broodguard has 6 hp remaining.

He used me...
AND HE SHALL SUFFER MY WRATH!
Ooc: Grigor is, to put it simply, enraged beyond words. Time for serpent genocide.

OOC: Ketuyne isn't very happy, either. The Amazons of Greek Fantasy Earth are quite fond of excessive vengeance.

Ummm.
The yuan-ti broodguard is still alive.

Ummm. . .
It's not my turn. If there are any cultists left, it's their turn. Otherwise, it's Aelmyn's.

(Rat) I will cast Sleep on the snake in a way that leaves me and Grigor out of the effect zone.
HPs rolled for Sleep: 28
