Esmee holds her tongue for fear that if she starts talking she won't stop and everything terrible that's just happened will spill out of her in a torrent of unintelligible babble. She knows from past experience that if she does that, the Elders will just sigh and chalk up everything she says to childish fancy and her group desperately needs to be taken seriously right now.
(Just a heads up. You don't have to role-play out telling them what happened. It's fine just to say "We tell them everything that happened" I leave situations like this open if someone does want to role-play it, instead of me just saying you all make it back and tell them what happened)
Barmo steps up all brash and usual bluster and explains what they saw. Mostly about how great he and his friends did in abating the giant rat menace. The details of the shops are not as blustery but still informative.
Upon hearing the news Wilbur's fist comes slamming to the table "See, I told you this would happen! You start letting strange folk into town and strange things start happening!" (He is obviously one who voted against you all being mentored) Blobbin interjects "You hush now Wilbur. We'll not be going over that again. We have much more important things to discuss!"
Hilna interjects "Well this explains the arm found in the nets today. Surely all those dead are going to foul the river?"
Blobbin is nodding in agreement "That is sure to be true Hilna. We will need to gather Gunther and his boys to investigate further and clean up what they can but the way I see it there could be more ships that come over the falls. They could dam up the river completely. We have to find out what's going on in Brassport. Who knows why they are sending these burning coffins down the falls. The problem is the only way to Brassport is by boat, and the closest place to find a boat is down south in Wayport. I'm afraid the journey to Wayport is too dangerous for the common folk of The Dale. I suppose it was for the best that you were all trained. I'm afraid I have to ask you all to travel south. Perhaps someone in Wayport has news but if not you'll have to book passage to Brassport."
Hilna agrees but WIlbur chimes in "I don't like sending our folk away when there's plenty to be done here but what you say makes sense. We'll need to gather some supplies for them. It's at least 10 days travel to Wayport"
Blobbin looks to the party expectantly "Indeed we will. We can round up what's needed tonight and have it ready in the morning. What do you all think. Will you take on this task"?
Esmee's eyes widen a little at Ed's quick willingness to go back out when they had all nearly lost their lives so recently. She looks to Eikis and Barmo, wondering what they will say.
Barmo, for all his bluster and swagger actually hesitates. He takes deep breaths as he teeters from courage to cowardice. He loves his luxuries, as his stoutness no doubt speaks to but didn't he undergo this training for his people?
He finally lets out a heavy gust, "Aye, we will go for the Dale. Let us go and seek these answers."
Eikis agrees to take on the task as well and it's decided that everyone should get a good rest and meet back at the council hill in the morning to gather supplies.
(If there is anything specific anyone would like before heading out let me know. Pretty much any common items are available.)
(Did we get paid anything for this first adventure? Because if we didn't Eikis is definitely not going shopping, haha...)
Eikis will take the evening the bury the limb she brought back with her - it seems like no one on the Council was willing to do anything with it after all. Plus, it would start to smell soon. She felt a little strange, having a makeshift funeral for all of the victims she'd seen that evening centered around some guy's detached foot, but she figured it was better than not paying any respects to the dead at all.
Finishing up her silent prayer, she placed a tiny wildflower on top of the miniature "grave", and then looked back at Vicious. "Wayport," she breathed. The guilt came back; was it wrong, that she felt more excited about the chance to finally have a real reason to venture out from Hickorydale, where the people always thought so small of things, than trepidation at the reasons for the journey? "Ugh... I'm too curious for my own good," she says to the honey badger, who simply tilts his head and waits patiently for her to rise. "Well... at least Barmo and the others will be going with us. We'll be in good company, boy!"
Brushing the dirt off, Eikis gets to her feet and moves inside of her house, preparing for an adventure.
Eikis will pack her cook's utensils with her - they'll prove handy on the road, and there's nothing quite like watching the bafflement on other peoples' faces when she casts a spell using a frying pan as a focus, after all.
((I don't have enough experience with this to know that I need anything other than the starter gear that came with creating the character))
After the group has all given their consent to take on this responsibility from the Elders, Esmee tugs lightly on Barmo's sleeve as he's walking away towards the tavern. She takes a deep breath and then says in a rush, "ThankyouforsavingmylifeIwould'vediedwithoutyou." When she's done her chest rises and falls in shallow motions as she tries to get her breath. She doesn't meet Barmo's gaze, but lets go of his tunic and hurriedly moves away.
Before the night is over she needs to talk over all this with her mentor and say goodbye to her parents and siblings.

I don't think we got paid. The Elders did say they where going to help equip us for our journey though.
In the morning after everyone has said their goodbyes to family and friends and taken care of any other responsibilities the party meets back at the council hill. Blobbin and Hilna are here as well as many of the residents of Hickorydale. (This being a very odd occasion of people leaving the Dale) Once gathered he tells the party that he has done what he can to collect what he thinks will be needed.
(For everyone... if you use ammo update your sheet so you have 40 total of whatever ammo you use, including whatever case is needed to hold them. Rations are now 12 days total. 4 waterskins total. (each waterskin is 1/2 gallon of water. Regular consumption is 1 gallon/day) There are also 2 climbers kits and 100' of silk rope)
After showing you the supplies he also offers you two small sacks. "This was given to me by your mentors when you first started training. They said there would come a day when you left The Dale and I was to give it to you then. This other sack is almost all we had in the treasury. Hopefully it will be enough to book passage on a ship"
Inside the first sack is a ring of protection for each of you as well as a potion of healing for each of you. There is also an amulet with the design of a bird surrounded by a wreath. An included note says "Present this amulet to a guard in Wayport to gain an audience with the ruling family"
Ed asks: "How far south is Wayport? Also, is there a recommended route to get there and maybe a map? We appreciate the confidence you have in us to be able to complete this mission and we will not let you down."
Blobbin replies "I'm sorry we don't have a map for you and I only know what I've learned from visitors. It is a 10 day journey due south. You will first need to head east through Rolling Rock Pass but then it is almost directly south. I know there is a large cliff that you will have to drop down about halfway through the journey. I've heard that there are some abandoned towns along the way that should be avoided. Other than that I'm afraid I can't be of much help"
Ed says: "Any information is valuable and we appreciate any and all advice. Again thank you and we will do our best to keep whatever is going on away from our Dale."
Barmo spends the night eating, drinking and telling tall tales. The morning brings the big guy saying goodbye to his ma, da and eight sisters with no lack of fussing and gushing.
He packs up his things and only makes two requests for equipment and that is a tent and a wood axe. "Gotta make those fires hot if we are going to cook proper," he blustered in response.
The next morning, bright and early, Eikis gathers her supplies together and gives them a once over. She looks at her meagre handful of gold, and sighing, makes a decision: you can't eat gold, and gold won't save your life while you're on the road. It's going to be hard, living thin with no money in her pockets, but Eikis knows she'd rather have the comfort of a place to sleep at night in the wilds, than a few extra coins in her pocket.
That being decided, she stops by the general store before meeting up with the others and makes a few trades, bartering a bit. When she's finished, her pack is heavier by a bedroll and a tent. There's just enough room to squeeze in half of the rope and one of the climbing kits provided by the elders; when Eikis shoulders her pack, it really does feel like she's packing up her old life and leaving it behind.
Joining up with the others, she sees Barmo and Ed already discussing the particulars of their journey with Blobbin. It's nice that the town elder is here to see us off,Eikis thinks to herself with a cheery smile. Then she takes another look around.
"Hey! Where's Esmee?" Eikis bites her lip in worry. "I think I made her cry yesterday... do you think she's still mad at me? Oh... I hope I didn't scare her away from coming with us!" Vicious whines in agreement, picking up on his master's worry.

Ed will take a couple of healer's kits, 1 vial of antitoxin, and a couple of flasks of oil with a lantern before he goes home for his long rest.
A few regular healing potions for the group would not be turned down either I think.
