Another twenty feet past the farther edge of the pit, Anakis, you can see that the hallway turns left into a narrower, ten-foot wide hallway.
"What do you think, Anakis," asks Tarek, regarding Aluzira's hand, "is it onward across the pit, in which case I'm already where you all need to be, or do we go down one of those other long hallways?"
Torrent approaches from the back of the group. "Iffen it's across the pit we're headed, we can lower ourselves down with this," he says, offering his rope, "but I think at least one of us'll still have to climb up the other side. I cannae see any other way."
“Right, that makes sense,” Aluzira says with a nervous chuckle in response to Tarek. “It wouldn’t be the best of ideas to pull you out only to have you climb back down,” she adds fidgeting with her dagger. “I’m good with continuing forwards if everyone else is.”
Anakis nods, "Alright then, let's keep going then." She scampers down the side of the pit and weaves her way through the spikes to the other side, ready to ascend.
The other side of the pit is easier to climb than it looked, and the halflings discover narrow ledges that can be used to traverse the pit on both sides, so before long everyone is across with the halflings lowering ropes to help everyone climb out of the pit..
"If this place is trapped an' suchlike" says Torrent, "perhaps it would be best if I walk up front with you, Anakis, you know, to keep an eye out," and he joins the front rank, keeping watch for traps as the party moves forward.
The hall bends to the left, and after thirty feet, it makes a sharp right. Your path meanders between mounds of fungus. After another thirty feet, the hallway ends in a small, thirty-foot wide chamber. The walls are lined with pegs, from which a few ancient robes can still be seen hanging. A wash basin sits on the floor near a wall. In the center of the room, however, is a great pile of what must be the dung of the creatures that grow the fungus. It reeks terribly, and it too supports a lush growth of fungus. Across the chamber from you, in the middle of the opposite wall, is a closed door.

Anakis sneaks in, looking up at the ceilings after having the creatures drop down in one of the first rooms (Perception :21). Once she's checked the roof, Anakis creeps over to look at the robes and the wash basin (Investigation: 16).

Once they reach the chamber Aluzira looks around for any more signs of Huds presence. “Why would they have made a place like this on there way to the underworld?” She asks curiously while searching.
"Maybe it was for sacrifices?" Anakis says, then realising what she said she shudders, "I mean, there's a heap of robes here. Or maybe it's some weird church? Mr. Buttons, do you remember anything about this sort of place from the stories of your ancestors?"
The ceiling vaults to a height of about twenty feet and looks clear of anything that might be considered threatening. The robes are of linen and very delicate, which reveals their extreme age. In one of the basins is a coil of strong, fibrous rope.
"No miss," say Remacle, "but there's no telling what lies under this city, or how far these tunnels go. The stories just say that somewhere down here is the entrance to the underworld, so I imagine some of these deep places might be fairly ancient, and there's no way of knowing who built them or how long ago."

Anakis scratches her chin and absent mindedly gives Custard a little food as she inspects the rope carefully. "I wonder what this place was for then. It doesn't look it's been used in a while, so that's something to be thankful for, right?" She makes her way to the closed door and listens carefully for anything that might be on the other side (Perception: 18).
You hear sounds of scuffling and slithering, as of some great creatures moving about and scratching their claws on the stone floor. While you're listening, however, your weight shifts against the door and it moves slightly inwards. Immediately, all sound from the other side of the door ceases as if the creatures on the other side have now become aware of your presence.
“Oh dear,” Aluzira says quietly, moving her hands to rest on her daggers. “Do you think they’ll try to come out? Or should we go in? Should we even try to fight them whatever they are? Or should we make our way back to that trap?”
"This is what Byron Strongheart would have done," says Tarek resolutely. Then, looking to make sure everyone is ready, he forces open the door.
It opens onto a large, forty-foot by forty-foot room with a high vaulted ceiling. There's another door on the wall to the left, and in the middle of the room are three very large lizards of the same type as the one some of you met out in the bog. They face towards you through the open door and hiss, lashing their tails. There are also some saddles and large sacks in the room. What do you do?
Anakis sees the lizards and the saddles, then thinking quickly she grabs out some rations, "Sorry Custard, but I think they might be someone's ride and they might be hungry." She holds out the rations and slowly moves towards the closest lizard, "Hey mister lizard. I've got some food for you," she smiles nervously, "Your master must have run away, but I'm here to look after you now."
The lizard sniffs the air hungrily as the rations are drawn out of your backpack, and it seems to forget its hostility towards the group for the moment as the food you're holding out becomes the focus of its attention.
Meanwhile, the other two lizards stand their ground, opposed to letting the group pass through the room to the door on the left.
Anakis inches slowly forward, "Easy mister lizard. I'm just bringing you some food," she smiles and talks as soothingly as possible as she holds out the food and creeps ever so slowly forward.

Anakis shakes her head and stands tall and defiant, "We took on the toads in the swamp, we can take whatever is behind the door."
Aluzira nods her head and draws her daggers “In that case, I’m ready when you all are.”
