Dane doesn't flinch or even blink. He stares at the fire with a mild sense of glee. "Ah, you know a piece of the truth in regards to the fire. Luckily, I've submitted to such purification long ago. You're right that in many cases, the law gets corrupted by whoever is in charge. The law is weakened when it is applied unfairly to those with more power. It becomes a game of whether or not one gets caught, and if one does, whether they can buy their way out of the punishment. That is no order, you are correct. That's why the Lawgiver instructs us to cultivate the law equally among all peoples." Dane pauses, tilting his head and smiling. "And then to burn away the corrupt in order to foster new growth."
(Mine was a natural 20, so the DM will decide if that makes any difference, though I doubt it)
"Burn away the corrupt people?" I ask, "What does that mean? What does 'corrupt' mean? Order pushes people to break the law. Order pushes people to become 'corrupt' because law always fails those born at the bottom of the system, doesn't it? You're born into a family of law-breakers, and you grow up with that, so you do it, right? Does that make you corrupt? Are you corrupt because of the way you're born? That doesn't sound right to me?"
I shoot a fire bolt directly up in the air.
"Fire burns away abusers of powers. Those who push others into slums, those who create terrible living conditions and discrimination. If order creates positions of power, it corrupts. All order corrupts the people that your god will burn."

A few of the men gathered around Dane begin to look doubtful, but they remain by his side.
Ox, the Lawgiver is a deity who demands that his followers obey his laws to the letter, which include social stratification and brutal punishment of those who disobey. There are rumors that the Lawgiver is dead, killed during the Grand Conjunction, but his clerics deny this.
"Ah. So fire is the thing that purifies the body and soul. A street charlatan told me it was the bottle of purple liquid that they were selling for ten gold apiece. Glad we've cleared that up."
After listening to Dane's speech, Nylia returns to her work.
"Good luck getting these sailors to follow a dead god, anyways," Ox says as he walks away.
After moving forward about 5 paces, he turns back towards the crowd, "If you want to learn the true ways of the world, ask me, not this phony god-worshiping oligarch."

Dane's face immediately flicks to rage. "Say what you want about me; I am but a broken vessel, but the Lord of the Flame lives eternal!" Radiant light bursts out around Ox (intentionally not touching him). Dane begins trying to return to his calm. "Enemies of the flame beware. The penitent will be spared, but the corrupt will burn!"

As Ox sees the bright lights burst around him, he turns around with rage in his eyes, glaring deep into your soul, "I can show you what the true purifier is."
He then reaches down for his double-bladed scimitar, as he grasps the hilt the blades start to glow pure white. Covering the whole blades, bright light spreads out every direction from me. My eyes then flash white as I pull the blade up in a defensive position with both hands grasping the large weapon in front of me, holding it nearly perpendicular to the deck.
"I can purify that tyrannical cleric butt of yours," I growl, taking one slow step forward.

Hearing a fight break out as she returns to her duties, Nylia turns to see Dane and Ox going at each other. She pulls out her holy symbol and readies herself to put a stop to it.
"Tch. As if I didn't have to worry about enough."
Initiative: 10
If she can, she casts Command on Ox before the fight starts (Wis save, dc 13.) “Drop your weapon!”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
On my turn, if I have my weapon still in my hand, and I get to move, I will mark Dane with the Blood Curse of the Marked, amplify it, and then attack. I have advantage from amplifying it, and deal extra radiant damage when I hit.
Attack roll: 13
If I hit, damage (I'm separating the rolls because the tooltips aren't working, and I get to reroll 1's and 2's):
Slashing Damage Die 1: 4
Slashing Damage Die 2: 1
Radiant Damage Die 1: 1
Radiant Damage Die 2: 4
