"What else do newcomers need? News. People to rescue, monsters to slay, a way to build up a positive and heroic reputation," Hatch said before taking a big swig of ale. "Preferably something that makes the area a bit safer afterwards," he finished after a glug.
The dwarf looks amused, " Oh.....your that sort of folk. Probably should have figured with the shell, and the horns and that metal thing outside."
" Theres a parcel of bandits been hitting shipments from the farthest mines....workers have seen them off but their getting bolder."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Bandits huh?" Brocc says with a look around the common area as they talk. He scans the crowd for anyone who has made any sort of reaction to the word bandit, as he said it loud enough for other tables to hear.
Rufus sits back as he enjoys the mug of ale. He is listening to the conversations going on about their table. He thinks to himself that bandits have got to be easier to deal with then demons...
"Bandits sounds as good a problem to solve as any. I can't stand bandits myself," Hatch said before asking the dwarf, "Any word on how large a group of bandits we're talking? Something we can tackle head on, or large enough to call for picking them off piecemeal?"
"The town was burned down by another band?" Hatch asked. "Horrid jackals." He grabbed a bowl and filled it up from the pot before grabbing a hunk of bread.
Lindale joined Banzo unceremoniously - the shock has passed and hunger kicked in. Walking around and solving random problems of random people still felt strange a bit, but she was getting used to it (or so she hoped). For now she let others to settle the matter and concentrated on "less talking - more eating".
The group woke the next morning with nothing missing from their rooms and no ones throat slit during sleep.
Broccs spider had not fit up the narrow stairs and was safely ensconced behind the bar, though a number of early rising dwarves were sitting near it with parchments and writing implements sketching furiously.
The taproom was fairly empty this morning with the workers having risen early.
An old human man was tending bar with a teenage boy bussing tables, a small humanoid with earth tone skin and a short snout could be seen cooking in the rear.
Brocc gives the old dwarf a bow of respect. "Thank you good sir." He says with a smile. Moving to the spider he pats it and would show the dwarfs specifics of the construction. He places the item into his pouch.
Hatch goes down to join everyone in the morning. As he wasn't much of an early riser, he was more quiet and stoic than usual, standing behind Banzo like a big red statue.
Banzo goes up to the bar. "Did we sleep late? Can we still get food?"
At Banzos distressed call the barman laughed loudly, " Five more specials!!", He called over his shoulder.
A short time later five platters of dark bread piled with slabs of firm white fish, venison sausages and a mustard sauce were slapped down on the table.
Banzo sure knew how to travel with at least relative comfort. Lindale fully and without any remorse capitalized on his skill joining the breakfast. "So, we are staying and clear out those bandits here? I mean, try to? And then search for a ride back to Chalice? How do we do it? Pretend to be helpless travelers?"
"Doubt if me and my spider will look like helpless travelers." Brocc points out as he joins the others at the table and digs into the food. "I'd be best at a frontal assault, but could just hang back for you to try some other ploy..."

" Been pretty quiet otherwise that I know of."

"Wrapped in their guilt as in a dark cloud," it sounded as if Lindale was reciting a poem. "Not the bandits. Anyone but them, I am sure of it."

The dwarf woman returned with a pot of venison stew and a pile of hard bread to eat it with.
" Huh? The bandits...seems like maybe a couple a'dozen...not sure."
" Not as many as burned the town to the ground a few years ago...thats for sure."

Brocc digs into the food as well, suddenly hungry with food in front of him.
Hatch pays the 15 silver for the group before heading off to bed.

Brocc moves to the dwarfs and gives them pointers on their diagrams, helping them to refine as they work.
" Yours? Hmm, Gnome work....bit of magic in it...", one of the older ones said.
" Still.....I think a truly mechanical one...or at least a more basic design could be made....perhaps..."
One of his companions reached into his coat and handed Brocc a small gold cloak pin in the shape of a hammer crossed with a pair of tongs.
" Might come in handy."

"Isn't ale best for washing everything down?" Brocc asks, lifting up his ale cup.
